tonyfsu21
Hello, hopefully I can get some help here regarding a couple ports we are sailing to next month. I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old and I won’t put them in a cab w/o car seats. Since we’re not (I repeat not) toting along car seats we plan to (hopefully) walk to a beach or pool (think margaritaville Turks and Caicos) very close by the port. Could anyone please give me some good pointers on close beaches or pools at the following ports?; 1. Nassau: first thought is avoid crazy cabs and take ferry to Atlantis and buy some resort day passes. How much per person? Any other option? 2. Cozumel: our go too before kids has ALWAYS been the amazing paradise beach. We have tried all of them and found it to be the most perfect all Around. Fast forward time and we have 2 young kids that I’m not putting in a cab, where do we go that’s within walking distance? 3. Costa Maya: We have never been here. I did here there is a pool within walking distance? 4. Roatan (hasn’t been cancelled yet): it’s been a long time since we have been here. Absolutely not leaving the port area and would rather stay on the Allure if there’s no very close by options. Thanks for any info you can provide. Suzanne
Have you seen the car seats that have a handle and roll like a piece of luggage? I always said if we ever cruise or fly with my toddler grandson we were buying one of those. This is just one I pulled up on a search. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Go-Go-Babyz-Kidz-Travelmate-Car-Seat-Carrier/15992259?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=1148&adid=22222222227000706441&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=t&wl3=40331486792&wl4=pla-78291556832&wl5=9027818&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=112562587&wl11=online&wl12=15992259&wl13=&veh=sem Skid

Our issue is only partially related to car seats and possibly more related to the way we have witnessed these drivers drive. I wouldn’t ever take the chance driving in a cab out of the country with my two most precious possessions.

British Colonial Hilton is in walking distance from the ship. @Matt did a full review of it here: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2017/04/03/excursion-focus-british-colonial-hilton-nassau-bahamas His kids are not that far off in age from yours, so may be the perfect fit for you. I don't have any help for the other three ports. Sorry. Matt

How much per person? Any other option Pearl Island excursion offered by RC. We did it this past April and, other than cold water, it was pretty nice. No taxis involved, just walk to the boat that takes you to and from the island. If you decide to do this here's a good tip, when you get off the ferry boat, skip the free photo and head to the end of the sidewalk where there is a fence. There is a very easy walk down to a nice secluded beach. It is about 100 yards from the bar and bathrooms. tonyfsu21 and Skid
WAAAYTOOO
Yes, Costa Maya has a nice pool right in the compound. You won’t even have to go out the gates. tonyfsu21
twangster
Cozumel doesn't really have a beach nearby. @mpoole3 recently did the 'Fury Catamaran" excursion that went to a beach. https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2018/04/17/excursion-focus-fury-catamaran-cozumel-mexico Costa Maya - I walked to the local town but it's much too far to walk with kids. The port area does have a nice, free pool area. I've got some photos of the port area in this live blog posting from Liberty a few months ago: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/boards/index.php?/topic/5671-liberty-22518-7-nights/&do=findComment&comment=59748 Roatan isn't a friendly port to walk out of the port area with kids IMO. You can walk around the port area once the masses have done so and moved onto their excursions. In the same Liberty live blog I have some pictures from the Roatan port area: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/boards/index.php?/topic/5671-liberty-22518-7-nights/&do=findComment&comment=59499 and https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/boards/index.php?/topic/5671-liberty-22518-7-nights/&do=findComment&comment=59596 tonyfsu21

El Cid has a beach in the academic sense of the word. Most of the beaches within walking distance have more coarse sand than further south. We went swimming after our excursion and didn't have to pay or order anything. Not sure if that's the norm or not. tonyfsu21
