FionaMG Posted December 22, 2024 Report Posted December 22, 2024 I'm having a senior moment and can't find the email I know I received about the gratuities going up (again). I think it was from the beginning of November? Can anyone remind me what the current rate is and how much it went up by? Standard cabin, not a suite. I'm just trying to decide if it's worth pre-paying them for our next one or not. Many thanks! Quote

Biaggio Posted December 23, 2024 Report Posted December 23, 2024 Always prepay. You lock in the rate as they keep going up. FionaMG and RCIfan1912 1 1 Quote
MdFormula350 Posted December 23, 2024 Report Posted December 23, 2024 yeah use to do after cruise for first 2 cruises now last 3 prepaid, so much easier and not having to worry about that charge at end. plus been getting travel insurance as well. Quote

PL8SWPR Posted December 28, 2024 Report Posted December 28, 2024 I don't prepay gratuities or just about anything in life. They get the money when it's due, not before. Not worried about an increase that might cost me max $14 for 2 people if they raise it by $1 a day. If I'm booking a year in advance, you about get that much in interest on the $250 in a high yield account anyway. Hits the card at the end of the cruise, no big deal. Quote

Ah - but prepay doesnt mean "pay it when you book" it means "pay it when you make the final payment" so you are paying 90 days in advance (possibly 120 for a long cruise) and you are highly unlikely to make $14 over 90 days in a high yield account Pooch 1 Quote
Pattycruise Posted December 29, 2024 Report Posted December 29, 2024 I won’t prepay because Royal is notoriously slow refunding money. If I had to cancel my cruise it’s one less payment to wait for. Quote
