As this is your first cruise you wont have any loyalty points. But points go with the person with the most points - so everyone would effectively have the perks of the double points - although they would only have the single set of nights. This will be a cheaper way of speeding through the points than cruising in suites - which would also give you double points (if you did this but had 2 suites 1 with a single adult booked then that adult would get 3X the points!) Assuming mum is the single adult then for a 7 night cruise she gets 14 points and the rest of the family get 7 Just make sure that when you cruise again, using the same trick, it is the same adult that is the single adult. That way after 3 x 7 night cruises the single adult has 42 points (3 x 14) while the rest have 21 but are all sharing perks of Platinum and are one cruise off Emerald. The kids get the same level as parents until they turn 18 - then they keep the level the parent had and dont move up until they have the correct nights for themselves. Hope this makes sense

A bit - but you need to live near a port that does short cruises as well. Hubby retires at end of June (officially mid August when the Scottish schools go back) - we have 5 cruises between start July and end October. But that has a B2B2B to minimise flights and we have long cruises there. Currently on 82 nights - so just made Diamond. By beginning of May next year we will be 7 nights off Diamond plus (JS on a TA of 14 nights helps ) we would love to do more cruising but living in Central Scotland means that we need to fly to the US to be able to cruise between October and April so that adds rather a lot to the cost of the trip

Hi. Bahamas will not be covered by the Schengen visa (which is for Europe) and won’t be covered by the US visa since it is part of the Great British Commonwealth. I would check the Côte d’Ivoire government website about whether you need a visa for the Bahamas

can definitely confirm this. I was Emerald when we got married and DH was gold and he got immediately promoted to Emerald perks with Gold number of nights. It works in a similar way for kids - but Spouses can get to pinnacle together while kids have to get to earn pinnacle points in their own right to get the pinnacle perks

And after his nice parents do the triple points trick it sounds like he is just a 7 night in an interior from diamond my kids all get Emerald perks but were no more than platinum points when they turned 18 and disconnected from my level

I have cruised freedom class 4 times, voyager class once, radiance class once and vision class 4 times First time on oasis class will be July then radiance class in August, B2B2B on ovation in October and then TA on Odyssey in April next year every class has its good and bad points and I haven’t found a totally bad RC class yet. Absolutely nothing can compare to the TUI ship I sailed on (Thompson Discovery) in the early 2000’s that was a nightmare to navigate - it had half decks, stairs that didn’t go where you would expect and was generally horrible as a cruise ship. But it was cheap for a family with 4 kids and it gave us the ability to cruise and take the kids places we wouldn’t have seen otherwise now as an older adult I don’t need water slides and entertainment 24/7 so I think the quantum class is going to be fine for us and I look forward to taking my now adult kids and grandkids on oasis ships in Europe in the next few years

We were scheduled to arrive in Athens last summer at 5. 10 days before we got there (mid way through our previous leg of a B2B) they changed it to 7:30. As that was our final stop this caused chaos with flights. so I wouldn’t book anything earlier than 9am and check if you can rearrange timings if needs be

Also don’t be surprised if the OBC being offered for your cabin class is less than the advertised amount. in the U.K. we frequently get “OBC of up to x” and if you aren’t in the top of the range suite you will get a number well below x

DH turns 60 this year and we would have been onboard for it but I just wasn’t happy booking hotels, visas, flights and vaccinations only to find out really close to sailing that it was cancelled. so we decided to change and do Vancouver to Sydney instead and then realised flights to Seattle were cheaper and got a cruise up to Alaska to make it a B2B2B for just a bit more than the difference in flight costs from Scotland!

I started sailing RC in 2008 with my ex and my 4 kids. I cruised with my SIL a couple of times and sometimes not all kids came with us by June 2011 I was emerald level and had split from hubby (forgot to tell RC) and kids had emerald level perks but platinum level nights - they still have emerald perks and are working towards having the correct nights to move up to diamond in their own right when I sailed again in 2019 with new partner (now hubby) he had no extras perks when we married in 2022 and sailed that summer we saw the loyalty rep on the first day, showed the marriage certificate (not sure if we needed to) and he was upgraded to emerald perks for that cruise this July we both sail on diamond perks for the first time. I have 82 nights and he has about 33 not sure what will happen when my grandkids sail in 2026 - will they get the emerald perks of their parents or the level that the parents nights say they should have?

DH and I had booked to sail Anthem from Rome to Dubai and then to Singapore in October and November 2024 when they changed the Serenade Dubai to Med cruises in Feb we changed the cruises and have gone for transpacific instead Today I went to check if the Anthem sailings were still available and can’t see anything between Anthem being in Southampton for a 12 night from 20th September and then it turning up in Dubai for the spice route cruise on 7th November did they cancel the Southampton to Dubai sailings as I know a lot of folk had B2B2B from Southampton or B2B from Rome booked

2025 Europe should have been released by now - they went up in Nov 2023 i am expecting Europe 2026 for anything post April 2026 to be released first week of Nov 2024 assuming they follow the same schedule as for 2025

2025 has been declared a Holy Year so Rome will be extra busy with pilgrims, particularly round the main feast days. We are doing the TA which ends in Rome in May next year and have looked at the IHG (particularly Hotel Indigo because of its location) and also Residenza Paulus VI (across the road from the Vatican) which has been recommended by a friend at church. Hotel Indigo gave us a silly price but it is showing “dates to far out “ on their website at the moment and Paulus VI have said to phone again in May. So we will see what happens in May / June when we might actually be able to get reservations at more sensible prices

Hi - feel free to kill this if it’s not allowed but I thought this group probably has lots of useful info April 2025 the DH and I are doing a “tour round North America and cruise home to Europe” trip as part of that we will be flying from Houston to Orlando so we can do Kennedy Space Centre for a full day ( would only have about 3 hours if done as part of our July 24 cruise). We are planning on doing 3 nights in Orlando / Canaveral area before flying up to Washington Any help on transportation ideas would be very gratefully received -FYI I have a driving licence and have driven in Florida before, DH does not drive Also suggestions for where would be best place to get a hotel would be useful as wel we are happy not to do theme parks, but a visit to Disney village might be useful for souvenirs Thanks for all your help
