B2B lunch

Recommended Posts

I'm finally doing my first B2B next month and curious how the lunch works.  From my understanding there is a dedicated B2B cruiser lunch in the main dining room.  Do you go straight to the dining room after being led back on the ship or do you just meet there at a certain time?  (Or did I hallucinate everything and I'll be stuck with the hoards at the Windjammer?)

So far, every B2B that we’ve been on has had a consecutive cruiser lunch.  In the distant past I think there were occasions when they did not have the luncheons, presumably due to there being too few B2B’ers, but I think with the onset of the Key program, they have simply combined the B2B’ers with the Key folks if the B2B numbers were low.  I have been to one such combined event recently.  Frankly, you would not even know the difference as the menus and seating/arrangements are very similar.

So I would definitely expect a consecutive cruiser luncheon of some kind.  They will give you a paper with B2B information as to when/where to meet for the consecutive cruiser parade and then also info on when and where to go for your lunch.  It’s a great perk, IMO since embarkation day lunch is such a PITA without some kind of organized event.

If there is a consecutive cruiser lunch it will be at 11:30. I have been reading, and told, various stories of the lunch not happening. I think there has to be a threshold of consecutive guest. I have also read and been told that on some sailings consecutive guest can enjoy the Key lunch. I have a B2B2B next month and I am hoping the lunch will be available.

Interesting, in the past B2Bs we have been on there was no offer for a B2B group lunch in the MDR. We always book lunch in Chops after we get back on board as a "new cruiser". The price is right, no big crowds and the food is great. I agree with what barjoe said above about "it may depend on the number of B2Bers there are". 😎

Update for those interested.

There were 35 B2Bs on our cruise so the lunch was offered.  They mentioned they don't usually offer the lunch when there are less than 30 so we barely had enough  They said they hadn't offered it at all the past few months as our cruise was the first one over the magic number in a long while.  They also mentioned that in instances when the number isn't high enough nothing is offered, you just have the normal embarkation day lunch options.  Reading between the lines I think this may be ship specific and not fleet wide.

The lunch was offered in the main dining room, in a separate area from the Key lunch.  The menu was a REALLY small offering but I think it might be the same as the Key lunch.  It was offered from 11:30-12:30 and worked about the same as a sea day lunch: don't have to arrive right at 11:30 but must be there sometime before 12:30 to be served.

Overall it was a very easy and enjoyable experience.  We didn't receive a letter in the cabin explaining what to do the evening before, but a trip to the diamond (excuse me crown) concierge remedied that as it was just an oversight and should have been delivered.

Freedom.  4 and 3 day.

I would almost guarantee it that you wouldn't get a B2B lunch. I think not enough people would be doing a B2B. If you haven't already, think about doing a lunch at one of the specially restaurants, if you didn't want to do the WJ or Sorrentos.

I am on Freedom starting Mon for a B2B2B (4/3/4) and hope that at least one of my sailings has enough B2B'rs because I didn't book lunches based on reports of the lunch being held.

I suspect you will.  Once again reading between the lines, it sounded like the number of B2Bs on that ship would be increasing as it's getting closer to summer.

Maybe see you on Monday. We'll be on from May 13-17 then going to a hotel, then back to the port and getting on Icon.

Yes, I will have purple hair and mostly in the casino. Also, slightly jealous that you are doing Icon. I regret cancelling it because the pricing became insane.
