Radiance OTS Royal Suite perks?

Recommended Posts

Hubby & I are on Radiance’s Oct sailing from San Diego through the Panama Canal and splurged on the Royal Suite, cabin 1558. Wanted to see if anyone has suggestions on how to maximize the few perks that might be available and not necessarily published. We have had several genie suites on Oasis class- Radiance has none of those many perks, but there has to be something for the Royal Suite, right? Understand the published perks, looking for advice on what they don’t tell you but we can ask for anyway. (Like all the great genie advice we have gotten through this blog.) TIA.

Back in the day (pre COVID) you might get a free bridge and/or galley tour. Also an invitation to lunch or dinner at the Captains Table (although I don't think this is a thing anymore). Also an invitation to a suite party of some sort -- helipad sailaway or cocktail hour with bridge crew or something like that. You just never know what might happen!

Nothing much or exciting really. I have come to the conclusion that the RS on a ship without the Royal Suite class system is really just for the room and space. There are no real "unpublished" perks. You get an officer escort on boarding day (usually the suite concierge), you get the welcome dome of appetizers and fruit (the one that usually comes in a star cabin), and that's about it, and that's all published, not a secret. You don't even get complimentary VOOM. And it's going to really depend on the suite concierge too on these smaller ships. When we had the Royal Suite booked on Freedom last summer, the concierge was terrible. We barely saw or heard from her. She didn't even escort us off on the last morning (which is a perk for all suite guests). Meanwhile, this past summer, we were not in the Royal Suite on Liberty, and the suite concierge did way more for us than the one on Freedom did. We have another Royal Suite booked on Adventure for next year, but I only booked that for the room. I don't expect any extra perks from that.

We are Diamond + and have the Royal Suite on an upcoming 4-day cruise. So, I think I read that the best thing for me to do is to purchase VOOM after boarding in order to get the 2-day credit for being Diamond +. Correct?

Yes, you can either take the total value of the free two days and apply it against a package onboard or you can use it to buy 24 hours at a time.

When purchasing a package, if you can wait until midnight the first night the length of the remaining voyage will go from 4 to 3, thus saving you a day (meaning you're only paying for 1 day).

If there are 2 of you with D+ and you both don't need constant access you could each do 4 24 hour periods and cover the entire cruise.

If you are both D+ you will both 2 days each. If you don’t mind sharing a logon and having only one device connected at a time you should be able to get your 4 days free. Activate your free Internet for 2 days and once expired activate the next 2 days on the other account.

we recently stayed in the Royal Suite on Brilliance. Absolutely loved the cabin and the space, you will have a great time.

Yes, we are looking forward to it, it's our 1st time in the Royal Suite. We normally book the Owner Suite and it fine with us but always wanted to try the Royal so... And it's the wife birthday. But it is also the 1st time we have had a suite and not received VOOM complimentary. Does anyone know what the deal is with the VOOM?

Royal has additional suite classes on their newer ships (Quantum, Oasis and Icon) which include WiFi. Older ships such as Freedom, Adventure do not have the additional suite class.
