juliaj21
Hi all, I sure this has been asked a million times, but I couldn't find it. I have cruised before (Disney Cruise mostly), but never with RC, so I have a few questions I need help with. 1. Drinks (non alcoholic) are not included? We should buy a drink package for soda and bottled water? 2. Meals are included, but not specific restaurants? 3. Shore excursions are extra, but what about CocoCay? I was confused about costs there. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Julia

I have cruised before (Disney Cruise mostly), but never with RC, so I have a few questions I need help with. 1. Drinks (non alcoholic) are not included? We should buy a drink package for soda and bottled water? There are some basic drinks included - tap water, juice, coffe and tea, iced tea, and lemonade. Everything else is a charge. If you will be drinking a lot of soda and bottled water, it may make sense to get the package. 2. Meals are included, but not specific restaurants? Specialty restaurants are additional but there are plenty of free options. The main dining room and windjammer buffet are the main ones, but there are others based on what ship you are on. 3. Shore excursions are extra, but what about CocoCay? I was confused about costs there. No Costs at Coco Cay except the waterpark and Coco Beach Club as well as the cabanas - It is easy to have a great itme and spend nothing extra. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! JohnK6404
Hi @juliaj21! Welcome! (1) Drinks (non-alcoholic) included: tap water, tea, coffee, lemonade, iced tea, milk, juices (not fresh squeezed), and hot chocolate (see Matt's related articles under the "Getting Started" section linked below). Yes, soda and bottled water are not included in your cruise fare. Bottled water can be purchased through the Cruise Planner in 12 or 24 bottle packages OR you may prefer to purchase one of the drink packages that include bottled water and/or soda (eg. refreshment package). The soda package only includes/adds soda and the refreshment package includes ALL beverages except alcoholic (includes non-alcoholic mocktails). Each item in the Cruise Planner will have a detailed listing of what's included to help you make your decision. (2) There are many complimentary casual and more "formal" dining options included in your cruise fare (most common across the fleet include the Windjammer buffet and the Main Dining Room - aka MDR). You do not have to spend extra to have variety and to eat well during the cruise. "Specialty" dining restaurants do have an upcharge. Take a peek at Matt's article for more details! (3) Coco Cay is much like the ship in that you can find plenty to do without any additional cost. Most of the beaches, as well as, the Oasis Lagoon pool are included. However, access to Thrill Waterpark or Coco Beach Club, as well as, cabanas and some of the other activities (zipline, hot air balloon) do come with an additional charge (can purchase through the Cruise Planner). Any drink package you purchase may be used while at Coco Cay... think of it as an extension of the ship! Did you have a specific ship in mind? Matt and his team have ship specific articles and videos that will answer many of your questions! Qeytondude
if you have little ones, on CocoCay there is a no cost water feature area, like an amplified version of what's on board that's also no cost. check out https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/perfect-day-cococay-tips-tricks-secrets
Neesa
I have a family member sailing Royal for the first time. We do small grab bag type gifting so I made a royal cruise starter kit. I'm going to make sure they check in at day 90 or immediately when available to help make their journey as seamless as possible. Nothing like seeing that first time joy! As it gets closer I'm going to probably get them some door magnets as well. WAAAYTOOO, JohnK6404 and SebagoSue 2
