Noamsof Posted May 1, 2022 Report Posted May 1, 2022 Hey guys! Going on a cruise for the first time tomorrow, so happy! I was wondering, do I need to carry my ID around the ship if I want to get drinks? Jessi Patterson 1 Quote
AshleyDillo Posted May 1, 2022 Report Posted May 1, 2022 Your SeaPass card will be your ID, so no. Only time you need it is when you get off at the ports. Noamsof, SpeedNoodles, CruisingOz and 2 others 3 2 Quote
Garebear Posted May 1, 2022 Report Posted May 1, 2022 I look on the younger side and often am asked for an ID. If you are clearly over 21 then I would say no worries, but if you are close you may be asked. Noamsof 1 Quote

I though that there was a sticker or something on the Sea Pass card that indicated if you are over 21 or not. Jessi Patterson 1 Quote

Moby Dick Posted May 2, 2022 Report Posted May 2, 2022 Ya, I can relate, I look young for my age but they still ask me for my Medicare card at the hospital. It's real annoying! Fox Forlenza, BigKarl, Lugnut and 8 others 11 Quote

It's coded in the system whenever they ring up the drink with the card. It will alert the bartender when ringing in the drink if they're not the right drinking age for the ship. It also pops up a photo so they can verify you aren't sharing cards. Moby Dick, PPPJJ-GCVAB, Neesa and 1 other 4 Quote
anxiouscruiser Posted May 2, 2022 Report Posted May 2, 2022 The cruise lines have always said the opposite, that you dont need to carry id around. Isnt the sea pass a photo id? As in when they scan it your photo comes up on the cpu??? Quote
JBC Posted May 2, 2022 Report Posted May 2, 2022 You don't need your id on the ship. Your sea pass card is your id. You can't order a drink on board without your sea pass card. Quote
Ampurp85 Posted May 2, 2022 Report Posted May 2, 2022 I think maybe OP has sailed on none commercial lines or even Disney. With RCG, NCL and CCL, they take photos and it is attached to your seapass card, which will display drink package, so no need for an ID. You can technically order a drink without having your seapass card by giving your room number, but again there are photos of everyone in the cabin. Quote
KathyC Posted May 2, 2022 Report Posted May 2, 2022 When our kids were under 21, the graphics on their seapass cards were different than ours, signifying that they were under 21 to anyone who just glanced at it. CrimsonCruiser 1 Quote
CrimsonCruiser Posted May 2, 2022 Report Posted May 2, 2022 On land and sea I have been mistaken for significantly under 21 and I haven't been carded once onboard. Sometimes when that happens I wonder if I just older that day or if they're lax or if my seapass has some indication that I'm not a minor... Quote
Garebear Posted May 2, 2022 Report Posted May 2, 2022 Just giving my experience, Norwegian and Royal, have been asked by several bar tenders. This is in addition to handing them my seapass card. Quote
