I can't answer that one, but in guessing it will be scrutinized.

I used to be the person who never dined during a port stop and would return to the ship for lunch, wouldn't spend extra for ice cream or specialty dining, but times have changed for me. In part, it's because I have more disposable income, but I also have to acknowledge that cruising is more affordable than it was when I first started cruising more than 20 years ago. As a result, if I have to spend $100 per person to have an improved dining experience, I'm willing to do so and just consider it the cost of cruising. I just wish Royal would up their game when it comes to complimentary daytime and late night snack options. For example, some lines keep their buffets open until at least 11 p.m., where others have much better pizza options, delis, or even pub-type food available 24/7.

Thanks for the info, @karl_nj . I agree with you regarding DCL's pools. My son got clocked in the head because the pool was crowded and kids were goofing around without parental supervision.
One of the things I loved early on with sailing Royal was all of the wonderful salads they would offer each night each with a different house-made dressing. One of my favorites was a Vidalia Onion dressing. Sadly, I haven't seen that in quite awhile and I personally feel that the main dining room variety is slipping. However, it is possible that they're also responding to the changing demographics of cruising and/or passenger demand. Some are simply not adventurous eaters.
On our last cruise, we ate exclusively at specialty dining and really enjoyed our trip, using the Windjammer for breakfast and lunch. On the cruise before that, the MDR was not cutting it nor were the menus, so we dined half of the time in specialty restaurants and ate most dinners in the Windjammer. Fortunately, the Windjammer has greatly improved for dinner over the years.

I saw your previous and first post. From your own admission, your blaming Royal fire a mistake you made and are now upset because they are adhering to their own policies. How is this Royal's fault and how does it warrant suggesting that others not book with them?
 
My suggestion would be you call back and ask you talk to a supervisor. If that doesn't work, write a letter to the CEO. That will be much more productive and is much more likely to solve your issues.

Thank you for the update. Unfortunately, customer service can be hit or miss, but I'm glad you were able to find someone that was willing to help.
 
In the future, Royal is quite responsive on their Twitter feed, too.

Good point. Of course, if it was just past final payment, then the equivalent of what would have been there deposit would be lost.
 
I really don't think Royal would be so rigid over a mistake that was made that one tried to correct within 24 hours. Even most airlines allow a refund within 24 hours.

You won't find Jade on newer ships. It was something that was introduced probably 20 years ago and stated disappearing around the time of the Oasis class if my memory is correct. I think the Freedom class was the last class to have them. 

While the laundry deal can be convenient, it can be pricy especially in long cruises where you may not on enough socks and underwear or have the luggage space. Some lines still have laundry facilities aboard which I like as I can control how my clothes are laundered (e.g., temperature). Princess, for instance had laundry rooms, and for $6 you can wash and dry a full load of laundry.

I usually look at it through the interactive TV program every day or two.  Otherwise, you can go to Guest Services and ask for a printout.  Note, however, that some of the charges are cryptic.  For example, if you buy a beverage package onboard, it could be charged to some random bar.  The same applies to wine tastings and the like.  The amount will be correct, you just might not recognize the charge at first.

That's horrible news. You MUST try it. It's part of the shared experience talking about how bad it is. 

Perhaps they purposely make the pizza bad so that everything else tastes better by comparison. ;)

Actually, I think it may have been my fault. You'll notice that it was in the right place in the list, just missing the "1."
My wife and your wife should meet. She's in the same boat (pun partially intended). She's not a fan of sea days and while we have the group cruise booked, we also have another booked that only has one sea day. My guess is that the other cruise will win out.
