Agree with Shanethegriff here. I'm in this age bracket. I'm retired and living on limited means. I budget my limited funds to be able to travel!

I agree with the above, yes its bigger but not much. However it’s enough room to appreciate considering the narrow leg room at the end of the bed to the damn wall! Also, Jr suite on some Oasis class ships have a walk-in closet.  But for someone that is all about racking up points to get to the next level, i chose the Jr Suite for more than just extra room. For me its more about taking advantage of double points per nights. I have gotten the Royal suite once and Grand Suite option many times but we are over paying $8,000 to 12,000k per person (those were the days… lol), so Jr suite is the most affordable way to get 2x points per night vs just 1x per night for regular rooms

Rhetorical or not, I don't think that's a fair assumption to make. Many in that age bracket are of very limited means.

When I look at the drink package options in my upcoming sailing, if you scroll to the bottom of the page where it shows the details and "fine print" it says:
"Offer applies to bookings made September 28, 2023 - October 2, 2023 and applies to select sailings departing October 2, 2023 – September 30, 2024. Senior Savings offer applies to guests 65 or older. Offers are non-transferable and not combinable with Crown & Anchor discounts or any other offer or promotion. Offers may vary by ship and sail date. Additional fees may apply to booking changes or cancellations. Prices and offers are subject to availability and change without notice, capacity controlled, and may be withdrawn at any time. Royal Caribbean International reserves the right to correct any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions and to change or update fares, fees and surcharges at any time without prior notice."

This is one of those things that isn't a problem until it is.
What is legal in the US or your home country is irrelevant once you leave the country.
Cruises by definition leave the departure country and visit other countries.  Each country has the right to establish what is legal and what isn't in that country.  When you visit another country you are subject to their laws, not ours/yours.
Will anyone know if you bring something small that violates the laws of another country?  Maybe.  Maybe not.  No one here can advise you in this regard.  You need to accept responsibility for your decision to break the law or policy of a cruise line.
This is usually where someone chimes in and posts a study offering how great some miracle substance is.    That's irrelevant.  This isn't about how effective, or safe, or good, or bad some substance is or is not.
Will the cruise line rummage through your stuff and look for anything that violates the laws of another country?  Probably not.  Unless there is a medical event or some other thing that draws their attention.  Trip and break an ankle?  Then they find an illegal substance in your cabin.  So much for the lawsuit you are thinking about, at that point you are in violation and subject to whatever they decide including being kicked off wherever in the world you are, get home at your own expense.  There goes the lawsuit, you broke their policy.
If you are riding a bus in another country and the bus gets in an accident.  In the aftermath somehow the local police find a pill or pill bottle.  Now it's a problem.  Now you are detained.  It's up to you to decide if you should break a law in another country.
Is that worth the risk?  That's up to you to decide.  No one on the internet will be standing with you at that moment in a vain attempt to argue your case.

Congratulations !  That sounds like a fun cruise.  I wish I could get my family to commit to something like this but they are WORSE than herding cats.
My one piece of advice is USE A TRAVEL AGENT !  A good TA will be able to keep everything linked that needs to be linked (think meals), help you decide on how to book your rooms to maximize value and avoid potential problems.  There are just sooo many details that need to be considered.  Let a TA do this.
I guess I have one more piece of advice...don't try and force everyone to do the same thing at the same time.  Just ask @Ampurp85.  Be together without being bound together.

Try to have dinners together and maybe 1-2 other family events. Otherwise, let people do their own thing.

Awesome lead off expecting hurricane season snark from a blog full of cruisers also sailing during this time of year!
On the chairs, I think your expectation should be similar to your previous 9 cruises.  Chair hogs will be out expressing their entitlement by sequestering chairs for their possible future return.  If you can't get chairs exactly where you want, look at your second choice, then your third and so on.  No idea on if PDCC will be cancelled but I suspect not.  It absolutely won't rain the "entire time".  "So Windy" and "Too Rocky" are relative so I'll shoot you a maybe on those.
How do I go with the flow?  I use the coping skills I learned as a wee lad.  Generally I don't focus on the  few negatives in my view, but instead turn around and look at the vast number of positives.
Relax @Bridgetbien, the purpose is to unwind, not to wind yourself up tighter.  Enjoy your cruise.

We had 12 of us on a cruise once.  They put 2 tables next to each other to accommodate us.  We rotated seats at each dinner to be able to visit with different people.  As you usually only have conversations with the people near/next to you.  It worked great.

I just did the final check-in for our 10-13-23 Mariner cruise and there were only 2 questions.  #1 was about 26 + weeks pregnant and #2 asked about current illness symptoms.  Gone are the old questions #1 and #2 about being vaccinated and/or boosted.
YIPPEE !!!!  Sounds like they are no longer tracking whether or not the pax are vaxxed.  VERY good news.

Eyeonhevn reacted to twangster in Why does it cost so much to bring an infant on a cruise
Every soul on board must have a seat in a lifeboat.  This applies even to an infant that is 6 months old even though an infant at that age would not use their own seat in a lifeboat.  SOLAS regulations don't recognize or reflect a difference from an infant to an adult, a soul is a soul that requires a seat in a lifeboat.
If there was one slot left for anyone to book a cruise before that cruise was sold out, an infant booked on a cruise prevents an adult from booking that available slot.  Given the price models for the industry an infant is no different from an adult right down to the capacity of a muster zone that groups of cabins are assigned to with all the guests in those cabins having a seat in the lifeboats assigned to that muster station.
It's common for new parents to hope for a break in pricing for an infant but the price models for everyone who books a cruise are built so many common costs are covered or shared by the masses of adults booking that cruise.  "But it's just one baby" until there are 30 or 40 or 100 babies on a ship that carries several thousands of passengers.  At that point for a cruise line to offer cheaper rates to infants someone else has to pay more and that would be all the other adults.  That's fine from a socialist perspective but not all other adults want to cover the cost of someone else's infant.
Fortunately for parents Royal does offer Kids Sail Free promotions but as many families discover those rates require more expensive cabins that can accommodate more than two guests which gets back to the seats in a lifeboat concept.  The vast majority of cabins on a ship are designed for two guests and that is part of the safety equation so that every guest has a seat in a lifeboat.  Hotels on land don't have lifeboats with finite seating capacity so cruise ships are not at all like hotels in this regard which can be a hard concept for some families to wrap their heads around.
"It's just a tiny infant" except it isn't from a safety on a ship perspective.   If safety regulations were to be relaxed then there would be some less honest company that would attempt to circumvent safety regulations by over-stuffing a ferry or some other type of passenger vessel to leverage such a loophole.  For this reason safety regulations are not flexible even though a reputable company like Royal may not choose to find a way around the regulations should the regulations be less strict than they are.
These regulations are international and they have evolved over the decades generally resulting from loss of life and previous disasters.
And so it's complicated, more than apparent at first glance.
