Mykonos is very easy to do on your own. Get off the ship as early as possible to get on the water taxi and take photos in the Old Town and by the windmills. We then went to the bakery and to a delicious taverna for a Greek lunch. Afterwards, we went on our own to the beach.

They changed the itinerary just a few days before we left on the cruise. It wasn’t that Southsider was complaining about being disappointed with the original itinerary. The new port was not at all a place that had the same level of guest engagement or opportunity. I completely empathize with their disappointment and frustration. 

I was on your cruise on the same deck. Same issues with ceiling noise and MTD. The MDR food was also pretty disappointing. The Kotor situation was a huge disappointment. I did enjoy the itinerary, however. We think this will be our last cruise with RC.

I just finished my cruise and Mykonos was a port that we found didn’t need an excursion unless you want to see Delos. We had an amazing time on our own. Disembark as early as possible and take the first  seabus to old town (4€ round trip per person no credit cards). The old town was empty and perfect for exploring the windmills, Little Venice and gorgeous streets. We took tons of amazing photos. Then we went to Giora’s Medieval Bakery (running since the 1400s) for amazing baklava and spanikopita! We had a delicious Greek lunch of tzatziki, Greek salad, grilled octopus and fresh grilled fish at Vegera in port. We then took the sea us back to old port and walked to Agios Stefano beach which had beautiful water and stayed there until time to return to the ship.

Just got off Explorer and the MDR food was very disappointing, particularly the red meat dishes: steak, roast, prime rib, etc. full of gristle, fat etc. people next to me ordered premium and had to send it back. 
 
On the other hand, the service was wonderful, which leaves me in a bind when I give my review to RC. I don’t want the staff to be penalized for food quality over which they have no control.

Thank you all for your helpful advice! We had a great day in Mykonos and Agios Stefananos was perfect for our needs.

No, there is no provided shuttle to the Old Port.  You can take the short water ferry that @cedricmr mentioned.  There are lots of beaches on Mykonos.  Here is a little breakdown: https://santorinidave.com/best-beaches-mykonos. Transportation is not easy, and the return to town will likely be more difficult than the trip to a beach, so I recommend an excursion if they want to go to a farther away beach.  If they don't want a particular beach, your daughters could just walk to Agios Stefanos Beach.

We were on there in April/May. At least one slide now.  Picture from port day in Malaga I believe.

Also no rule preventing you from leaving kids in port when you return to ship. 

I read Bar has a unique beer - Pomegranate Beer. 🙂

I don't know anything about the place, but it seems to me that going to a bar in Bar would be a must. 

Don't know why Royal doesn't change their checking to bulk checkin. When we did the e-muster your allowed to select all members of the reservation who are with you watching it. Why not have on checkin to have the option to apply the boarding time to all people on the reservation, I'd imagine 99% of the time they'd all be boarding together anyways

If you bring everyone at the earlier time you will probably get through.
The other thing you can do is accept that you made a mistake and the minor "penalty" of 1 hour and everyone show up at the later time.
You'll almost certainly get through at the earlier time, but you all are entitled to the later slot with a lesson learned.

I had something similar happen on a recent cruise.  I had an 11am time and my wife had 2:30pm.  We walked together and showed them the seapass papers with mine on top.  Nobody ever noticed my wife's boarding time.

Why not meet half way and try getting there for Noon?  Actually since it is only an hour difference I would image there shouldn’t be an issue even if you arrive at 11:30 and all try going in together.  Sometimes it depends on the port…some are much more lenient than others.

Entering night 7 tonight. Food is no better or worse than before. Though the jamaican chicken was great.  2 Indian dishes were good. The enchilada was good, though it needs more sauce. I have no idea what those corn cakes were though. 
 
No issues with gluten free ordering for my wife. Same procedure as before.
