Linking does not guarantee a table together. I experienced that just this week.

We had that happen to us on the Oasis in 2019 (we had first seating not MTD).  They did correct it after the 2nd night so this time we will go see the dining room manager as soon as we board to make sure that our table will seat all 8 of us.  Lesson learned.

My TA wasn't getting anywhere so he has RCI's Business Development Manager.  Mine is $640.01 so that is a lot to eat when I don't owe it!

UPDATE:  The BDM finally called my TA and said it was a "coding error" on their accounting side.  They did place a note on our reservation not to cancel the cruise and that accounting was correcting the issue.

Maybe misunderstood, I don’t use JUST carry ons.  BUT my carry on contains 2 days worth of clothes etc in case checked luggage is lost/delayed.  If the checked bags didn’t make it on board, we could survive on what I had in the carry on.

Me too!  I just want to have enough to get by with.  My niece's friend is on a river cruise in Germany.  Her luggage finally got sent to Munich but she isn't there so the airline is just going to send it back home.  She said she is not letting it ruin her vacation but her hair (extremely curly) is a hot mess 😋

Happened to us right before our Mariner sailing. Either I paid it, I did not owe it, it was a canceled voom package(109.00$) or they would have taken it from Sharlas commission. Their math made no sense, I was sailing in a few days and even though I produced my cancelation proof they refused to acknowledge. We ate it because it was a good rate to begin with and I was not allowing them to cut my TA's commission. Another reason we are taking a Royal break after this 30 year anniversary sailing at the end of the month.

I ALWAYS have 2 full days worth of clothes etc for everyone on the trip in a carryon.  And since our stuff is mix & match and wrinkle free/drip dry, I could probably get a 7 day cruise out of what’s with us.

I will be doing this ( 2 carry-ons ) for our Europe cruise.  I plan on 3 outfits (maybe 4 if the vacuum bags work)  that can be mix & matched plus all underwear for the trip.  I will be taking some single use laundry soap just in case.

From the cruise line?  I’ve seen that happen here.  Sometimes the  luggage is held in the naughty room because of forbidden items inside. Other times, I cannot understand how it can disappear when it’s dropped off to the porter.  I’m seriously considering  2 roll on carry on bags for my trip….one can go with me into the passenger area on the plane and I can drag both onto the ship.  I’ll have to do some practice packing to see how it works

The luggage didn't make the flight to Europe.  I think she was 3 days in (on cruise) and still didn't have her luggage.  Not sure how they would get it once you leave the original port for other destinations.

I'm on a Celebrity FB group and 25 people's luggage did not make it to their destination. (British Airways). This happened to a family of 16 on my February Anthem cruise out of NJ, the luggage caught up with them in Nassau when the cruise was half way over.  The number of people sharing the horror stories about luggage, flights etc is scary.  Someone mentioned how they have their clothing split between 2  pieces of luggage so in case 1 bag didn't make it they'd still have stuff.....well neither luggage made it!  Another talked about how they had the airtag in their luggage-which meant they could see where there luggage was, but it did not make it to their cruise.  Another talked about how while boarding they took their carry on luggage because of lack of room onboard, and that luggage was lost.   It was my plan to use a carry on luggage  and try to fit as much as I can into it.....I do always have a "grocery type recyclable bag"  folded and placed in the outside pocket of my luggage "just in case" and you know I would have stood there and took the majority of my carry on items out to stick into that bag!  Then there were the horror stories of connecting flightrs.  If you booked through Air2Sea program their numbers into your phone.  If you are booked with an airline get their app-  I'll be thrilled if I can make it to Europe on time for my cruise, I guess having my luggage make it would be a bonus, if they want to mess with my flights home-oh well.

My niece just told me that her friend is on a cruise in Europe (not sure which cruise line) and she didn't get her luggage.

Happened to us with refunded specialty dining reservations.  I called and a supervisor who investigated found the total payments we made equal the total amount on our invoice and our cruise would not be cancelled.  It was a smaller amount than yours ($44.99) and I actually tried to pay it just to get it cleared and I would fight the good fight later to get it right. The payment was refunded the next day as an over payment. Final payment date came and went and our cruise was still booked.  I asked them to email an invoice shat showed a zero balance which they did.  It is a nerve racking experience but it worked out for us.

My TA said that "Somehow" it shows up that I repurchased those 3 items on June 21, 2022.  I cancelled them last August!  What gets me - if you purchased all those things you have to pay immediately so that should throw up a big red flag o their side.  I am truly thankful that I have a TA to deal with this because it is stressing me out as we cruise in 6 days!

  9. We fly out on Saturday to Orlando for our Sunday Harmony cruise.  We cannot get a direct fly to Orlando from Louisville. So we fly to Atlanta and then to Orlando.  Hopefully, we won't have any issues but if we do, there are several flights that day.  Same thing in case our luggage doesn't arrive on the same plane, we still should get it the same day.  As a matter of fact, we will be driving to the airport a different way as they are doing a lot of construction on I-65 and there are many delays.  Our flight is 12:19 so plan on getting there 3 hours ahead just to have peace of mind.

I am more worried about our Amsterdam flight in August though.

  10. My TA called me Saturday and said he got a notice from RCI that I owe $640.01!  I got a refund from RCI for exactly $640.01 because I cancelled our Voom package because we got the KEY and it came with it, I cancelled 2 soda packages and 2 refreshment packages and re-purchased 4 refreshment packages.  I took a screen shot and my refund order number and all three of those refunds totaled $640.01.  He called them and sent them the screen shots and they told him to call them back today (Monday).

I'm sure my TA will get it straightened out but really....

@whitsmom  Ooo, what BI cruise do you have booked?  It seems to me that Celebrity and other cruise lines have better BI itineraries than Royal.

Cruise starts from Amsterdam and goes to Edinburgh, Glasgow, & Inverness in Scotland; Belfast in Northern Ireland, Cork in Ireland, Liverpool in England, St Peters Port in the Channel Islands, and Dover in England.

  12. We purchased the Key for our upcoming Harmony cruise (before restart).  Once they reinstated the Key program, we go an email stating that the lunch at Chops was not available and that we would get 25% off specialty  dining when booked on board and no-fee room service for entire cruise.  Since the Chops lunch was reinstated, I didn't think we would still get those extras.  However, I just got an email on Tuesday (July 5th) from RCI stating that we get the lunch as well as still getting the 25% discount on specialty dining as well as the no-fee room service.  We are pleasantly surprised to say the least.  Not really sure how much we will use the room service but it is nice to know we can if we want to.

Now we just need to test negative on the 15th, pray for no flight delays on the 16th and be on time for our noon check in on the 17th!

@whitsmom So I just checked the Hyatt on the airport property has a DAY STAY situation. They could spend the day there, luggage secure and enjoy the pool and restaurants. It looks like it is perfectly set up for your exact situation. Look under "offers" & sure enough I believe it is available from 1000-1800. If their flight is at 2000 it's perfect, they could gather their luggage get through security & be at the gate refreshed and ready to board their flight. I would totally opt for this if it was me. I hope this helps 🙂

    Looks like 169.00

This would be perfect for them!  Thanks, I will let them know.

Is there any way they could do one of those post cruise excursions? Like the Hop on and off bus? That way they can keep their luggage, get views of the city and then be dropped off at the airport for a smaller flat rate.

They tried to book the Canaveral Space Center excursion but it is full.  I'm not sure about any other options but I will look to see.

By 9am they will likely start paging their names to get them to leave.

There is nothing to do on the ship, once the early breakfast service has completed everything closes.  They can't use the pools or get a drink.

They will need to vacate their cabins as soon as possible so it can be cleaned and sanitized for the next guest.  Sleeping in and staying in the cabin is pretty impactful to the cabin attendants who have to "turn" that cabin and get it ready for the next guest.

Customs and Border Protection will require the ship reaches a zero guest count before any new guests can begin to embark.  Hiding out and overstaying can delay the boarding process for the next cruise.

Don't let them be "those people".

If they have to be out of their cabin by 8:45am then they won't stay anyway.  I think the RCI rep lead him to believe they could stay in their cabin.  I told him there was no way that could happen!  They just need to rent a car and find something to do and turn the car into MCO airport.

I think rep might be confused because you will have to be off the ship before 10am.......and that is stretching it. I had a 3pm flight during reduced capacity and the latest they allowed me to stay was 8:45. I would imagine that with more cabins to turn-around and allowing people to start to board at 11am; 10am will be the absolute latest. Remember most of the reps are just reading/reciting info.

That is what I thought too - maybe 9-9:30am.  There is so much extra cleaning prodigals now so I can't see 11 am being at all considered.  I told him they need to rent a car and go to Disney Springs for the afternoon. They got a direct flight so that is why they picked such a late flight to begin with.

  17. We cruise on the Harmony 17-24 and my daughter and son-n-law have a later (8 pm) flight than we do.  He called RCI and asked what was the latest they would have to disembark and they told him 11 am.  That seems strange to me that it would be that late.  Has anyone had any experience with this lately?

Those are wonderful and personal policies you have put in place; but have absolutely nothing to do with Covid mitigation.
Sanitation however is always a good thing.

Oh I agree with you 100% but it makes me feel like I am at least trying to lessen my chances.  I don't want to miss our Bucket List British Isles trip....

  19. Our cruise on the Harmony is in 19 days.  We plan on taking plenty of small hand sanitizers and use them whenever we touch a elevator button or a door handle and etc (we do this here also).  We will not be eating in the Windjammer due to everyone serving themselves without gloves.  There are 8 in our party so we will fill an elevator pretty well.  We are on the 14th floor so we will use the elevators more often.

We cruise again in 52 days our of Amsterdam so I want to be extra diligent if light of this.  We are Vax and Boosted but I know we can still possibly get it; however, we plan on getting lots of fresh air and sunshine and enjoying everything Harmony has to offer.
