  1. Not sure where else to put this, but here goes.

Earlier this week I had a huge problem with the C&A confirmation page after login. I would log in to the Royal website to check out cruises, and was asked to complete a short form of confirmation details, starting with my email address.

However, putting in the email address activated a pop up which asked it I wanted ot keep using my email address, that then returned me back to the original login screen and yes, I was in a loop of doom.

I reached out to IT support and what a great experience that was. The young man to whom I was speaking did not have the answer, but while I was on the phone he rallied others to his aid and eventually it was resolved.

What impressed me here was the determination to immediately resolve the issue to the satisfaction of the caller (me). As an IT professional myself, I know there are those who do not have this as their highest priority.  Would I recommend RC/C&A IT support ?  Very much so. It may take a few selections on the menu to get to the right person, but in my experience, the service is exceptional once you are there.

Our ceremony was in the Viking Crown Lounge area.  An assistant to the cruise director handle all the on board coordination and conducted the ceremony.  We were her first wedding and she was excited to add us to her resume'.

We took pictures at various locations on the ship, including the one above on the helo-pad as the ship was approaching Mendenhall Glacier.

I love it, thank the info is really appreciated

You can go through Royal and they will provide an officer and venue for the renewal ceremony.  All this costs a pretty penny.

We renewed on Radiance during an Alaskan cruise in 2017.  Royal did a great job.

A couple came right after us who had not used Royal but used their own official and our venue and decorations for a short ceremony.  Lucky for them.  You could do the same without going through Royal.

Awesome, I knew someone would know, thank you sooo much

  4. I havent yet booked for our 25th anniversary in December 2023, but I am wondering if anyone has any insight on whether I can setup a surprise for Sheryl and arrange for our vows to be renewed onboard.

Has anyone done this or know if it is even possible?  If so, how do I arrange with Royal ?

    TIA

    Andy

    PS: its super secret.

  5. A magnanimous offer from Royal. Bottom line, we get the difference back as an onboard credit, and if we dont use that, it gets refunded. Basically they are honouring the original bookng cost which is outstanding.

    Dear Guest,

Recently, we reached out to inform you of the changes to our deployment planning and how as a result your reservation was going to be moved to a new ship. Since then, we’ve received some inquiries regarding Cruise Planner purchases and want to provide you with some clarity.

Regardless of whether you choose to stay on the new sailing or choose to cancel, your Cruise Planner purchases will automatically drop from your reservation. You’ll receive a full refund of funds paid to your original form of payment within 14 days.

If your reservation has been moved to the new sailing and you re-purchase like-for-like Cruise Planner items and there is a price increase, we’ll reimburse you for the difference via an Onboard Credit added to your SeaPass Account. This credit will only be added if the products purchased are the same as those you previously had. For example, if you originally booked a 1-device VOOM package –  re-purchasing a 1-device VOOM package would make you eligible, purchasing a new 4-device VOOM package instead would disqualify you from the credit.

Once you’ve completed your Cruise Planner purchases, the credit will reflect on your SeaPass account by Day 2 of your new sailing. This Onboard Credit can be used anywhere onboard and if at the end of your cruise you haven’t used the full amount, any remaining funds will be reimbursed to your credit card on file. Below, you’ll find some FAQs answered for you regarding this offer.

We hope this has clarified some of the confusion around your Cruise Planner purchases. We look forward to having you back in onboard very soon!

    Sincerely,

    Royal Caribbean International

  6. So Sheryl and I were moved from Navigator to Freedom for our September 28 sailing. A logical move and no complaints, we do love Freedom.

However, as a result our cruise planner bookings were cancelled, including the damn good deal we had for the Beach Club at Coco Cay.  At $79 each it was a locked in and sweet deal. When I go to rebook, thats now $169 per person.  Now this isnt a complaint, I know its one of those things but dayum, I really thought we had beaten the system lol

I will be keeping eyes open for sales and see what happens

What is curious to me (selfishly, admittedly) is there isn't a word about Navigator at all, either sailing or canceled. I'm scheduled to be on Navigator out of Miami September 20th and can't figure out from this announcement what that means...did I miss something?

I was scheduled on Navigator for August 2nd, but the way I read it, it's canceled, however I have not received an email or anything about it.

I am on Navigator for August 13th.  Just got an email from Royal Caribbean that those booked on Navigator will be automatically moved to Freedom.

We had the same notification this morning. Automatic move from Navigator to Freedom. Processing begins June 6th. We dont have an issue with that, not our first time on Freedom and she is an amazing ship

Did someone say close shipboard quarters?

disclaimer: I didn’t stay in quarters like this, but good friends did

I spent 10 years cruising with the grey funnel line (Aka Royal Navy) in accomodations similar to this.  However, that was my choice.  In this case a two man cabin is going to be somewhat differen than sharing with 20 others

  9. Sheryl and I have had the pleasure of cruising on both. It boils down to what you are looking for in the ship itself, amenities, itinerary and so on.  One thing I would add as a consideration is departure Port.  Having gone though both Miami and Ft Lauderdale, I have to say Miami Terminal A impresses the most. Not only is it new with heaps of carlos fandango bells and whistles, the parking garage is right there. Easy to drop off and get back to the wheels for those of us who can drive down.

I believe Cressi sells a mask that has replaceable lenses for people with a need for prescription lenses. I am ok to drive with correction but usually just wear contacts when I dive. I just make sure that I take along extra rewetting drops and flush my eyes well after each dive.

Another one to check into, thanks for the heads up...

I got some inserts called "Trident Dive Optx Scuba Mask Magnification Lenses" from Amazon for $25.  I had issues because I did not get them placed correctly in my mask.  Due to this things were blurry.

Then on my second dive one of them washed out and is gone.  I will probably keep the one in my mask so I can read my computer with one eye.  This could be due to me installing the night before the dive.

I like the concept since I can keep the mask I like and the low cost.  A better way to install would be good.  Some reviews use a touch of glue.

    Thanks Mark, good advice

I have prescription goggles that are pretty old but they work well enough for snorkeling.  I bring my own snorkel usually as it's already not connected to a mask and just use the flippers & vest from the excursion.  I don't have a problem with the snorkel not being attached as it stays in my mouth fine underwater.  Only difference is that it doesn't hang on the side when I come out, I have to hold it or put it down.

I found the goggles well worth the investment as we cruise so much.  Exact prescription doesn't matter underwater so they will always be fine.

    Thanks, will check into these

If your are able to wear contact lenses then this option 100%

On vacation i wear them everyday, only issue i have is if i forget my reading glasses when i have contacts in, makes it impossible to read the cocktail list so i just start at the top and work my way down ?

Alas contact lenses arent an option in this case, but thank you for the advice, it is all appreciated

    Hello Guys,

I wear glasses, and I have found the cheapest option was to visit a local dive shop who sell masks which are made to be able to click on lenses onto the from of the mask lens. The beauty of these is that if your prescription changes you can simply clip on a new lens. My right eye is different to my left and so able to mix and match lens. They generally come in 0.5 increments. They are quite durable, I use them for diving and snorkelling, and mine are about three years old.

There was an option where I could have glass lens ground and fitted into the mask, but they were very expensive and as a seasonal user, the clip on lens are great, highly recommend them.

    Thanks Oz, much appreciated
