  1. Been trying to check prices as well and white screen appears for me too! Thought it was my computer until I logged into the forums and saw this topic!
  2. I use holiday-weather.com for my CocoCay forecast. This Saturday shows partly Sunny 84 degrees with a spot shower around 9am. Looks pretty decent to me!!! . ENJOY!
  3. Sorry but I do not think those prices are worth it at all! Seriously, we paid $79/person back in November and I really wouldn’t justify paying much more than that! Even the cabana cost seems so steep compared to what other options are available. In April we decided to get a cabana at South Beach (which is to the right of CBC when facing the water) and it was so much cheaper than fee for CBC and we were very happy with our choice. But…that is just my opinion and everyone likes different experiences so I figured I would give you my two cents.
  4. Were you able to quarantine in your room or did they move you to the COVID rooms? So sorry you ended up I’ll…and your wife! Hope everyone is doing well now.
  5. Water bottles…anytime you think of it, stop at a bar and ask for one. Bring to your room so you will always have bottled water to drink. Fresh OJ can also be ordered in the MDR if you are eating breakfast there. With the refreshment package you get a soda cup so you can also visit the machine whenever you have that cup with you. There are other choices besides soda in the machine.
  6. If you booked through Royal (on website or on phone) you can call and ask the rep to check the current prices for you. I find they are always willing to help. If you used a TA, then have them do the asking for you. As @Ampurp85 stated…doing a mock booking helps you know what the current pricing is.
  7. I typically find the cruise planner sales happen about every 3-4 weeks so yes, I am expecting one for Memorial weekend since the last one was very early May. The thing I have not seen in recent sales is truly great prices!! It seems (in recent months) right before a sale the prices get “jacked” up so when the sale occurs the price is still not really cheap! Yes, I know inflation has hit us all very hard so I suppose we can’t expect those wonderful prices from a few years ago! Sad…but at least we are all in this together!
  8. On Oasis there really is no bad place for breakfast…just depends on what you are looking for. Now…I have only sailed on Oasis once so this is my opinion only! The MDR has your typical restaurant-style offerings and best part is the waiter attention. It is less busy so wait staff is pretty easy to find when needed. We ate in the MDR on debarkation day so we could enjoy the relaxed atmosphere one last time before heading home. The MDR is not a quick eat and run type of restaurant so if you are in a hurry…go somewhere else. My favorite is the Solarium Bistro because it is less crowded than WJ and although there may be less to choose from…believe me there is plenty! It feels like a more gourmet sort of food is offered. You can eat quickly or take your time and enjoy the scenery. The WJ has so many food choices and sometimes (depending on timing) quite crowded and noisy. It is very large and you should know there are 2 areas of the same selections on each end. A few of my pet peeves about the WJ: I hate it when I finally get to the section with the food I really want and the pan is almost empty! It happens! I will say that I did find they try very hard to keep up with refilling but I did have to wait for a few things. Another thing is when you are in a long line and the people in front of you just take their sweet time looking over everything and hold up the line. Even worse is when one person is in front of you and next thing you know there are 4 or 5 people joining them…just cutting in! All this happened to me which is reason I only ate there once! So there is also the Park Cafe which I did not check out for breakfast and of course Cafe Promenade. But I believe both of these are quick bite sort of places. Johnny Rockets also has a breakfast but that is not for me. Sorry I rambled…hope you first experience on Oasis will be the best!!!
  9. The entire Solarium area is beautiful on the Oasis. We ate lunch there a few times while on our cruise in November. We also had breakfast there. Both are buffet style and much nicer (IMO) and less crowded than the Windjammer. We decided against dinner since the offerings weren't spectacular and we enjoy the MDR ambiance for our dinner experience.
  10. I am not sure that the balcony dividers on Brilliance can be opened. I thought Radiance class balconies do not have that option. Hopefully someone will have the accurate answer.
  11. There is still time but it does sound like your odds are good! Good luck and keep us posted!
  12. When you book a balcony for 2 people you will need to pay the extra price for a more spacious balcony room which would accommodate 3 people (large sleeper sofa). Third person always has a cheaper price so if that third person decides to go, yes, you need to reprice but if you split 3 ways (meaning each person shares the price of one third of the room) then it might not be a substantial increase adding that third person. Of course, keeping that room for just 2 is more costly but it’s only way to be able to add that third person without having to switch rooms.
  13. I am not sure what works in anyone’s favor or by ship, etc. The Adventure of the Seas cruise that left yesterday had given my brother the opportunity to Royal Up on every category above his (spacious balcony). He placed bids on all, some well over minimum, but he did not succeed in winning anything. He also told me, after boarding yesterday, they are not sailing at full capacity so who knows?
  14. My brother and SIL boarded Adventure yesterday. They had the earliest boarding time of 11am. They arrived at the port shortly after 10:30...said it was a bit hectic but were on board and taking pictures by 11:10am! Every port...every embarkation is different. Just never know.
  15. I have seen many posts where people won with a minimum bid…but I think this was more doable when capacity was lower. Now that most ships are very close to max capacity it may be tougher to win with a minimum. However, you never know! I wish you luck!
  16. Wow on my very few cruise record (so far) I always booked and paid ahead of time and kept checking prices right up until the 48 hour cutoff. I have never been told I can’t reprice same category and have been credited back quite a bit of money a few times. Once final payment actual date arrives you can still reprice but at that point will receive an OBC for the difference.
  17. Your opening commentary is heartwarming. Wishing you the best first Royal cruise ever with many more to come…perhaps not all as a solo passenger! Oasis is a wonderful ship for that first time cruise! I am following and looking forward to what’s in store for you…and us!
  18. I am enjoying this post immensely. Your photos are breathtaking and capture every essence of what an Alaskan cruise includes. Thank you for starting my day off with beauty and majestic elegance!
  19. Always early seating for us. More flexibility for shows, yes…but also for digestion so we can grab some Sorrentos pizza later on and still have time to digest that before heading to bed! Sleeping on a full stomach causes restless sleep and when morning arrives just do not feel fully rested!
  20. In my case it wasn’t more than a day but I would advise that you upload all documentation sooner than later once you are able to.
  21. We didn’t stay home completely but did cut back on interactions with crowds and close settings. No hugs when greeting anyone and stayed away from public shopping areas for the final week before our cruise. Only place I needed to go was my mom’s nursing home which they make us wear N95 masks anyway as well as keep a safe distance away. I will admit I hugged my mom when I was leaving even though I wasn’t supposed to! Being safe is one thing…but sorry it’s my mom, I am going to hug her! So you sound like you have a good plan.
  22. I have a dozen ducks to take and hide on my Allure cruise in September. Bought them on Amazon and plan to have my grandkids create some tags for them. I am not on any social media sites so can’t post pictures on Facebook or Instagram as a few tags have suggested when I found ducks on Oasis in November. I just want to do this because it’s fun! Oh…and I rehide what I find.
  23. Not too far that it is inconvenient. Just a little walk along the shoreline. Maybe a couple minutes tops? There is a bar and the snack shack right behind the South Beach cabanas as well as restrooms. The floating bar is in the water in front of the chairs with umbrellas.
  24. Celebrations can be noted along with food allergies, special equipment (Cpap), etc. We cruised in November on our 42nd anniversary and our room attendant left us a nice note along with 2 towel swans kissing to create a heart on our bed. Nothing else happened. In April we cruised while celebrating two birthdays (our son and our nephew). It was noted on our paperwork but we had to ask the waiter in the MDR to acknowledge them. He brought each of them a piece of chocolate cake with a candle and a few of the waiters sang. That’s it. There are decorations you can purchase in the cruise planner but I have never done that so have no idea who would hang them in the room. I think if you are celebrating something you pretty much have to make your own celebration. Perhaps those lucky enough to travel Star class with a genie will have much better luck with special occasion recognitions?
