Also please look past the headlines that say states opened too early. Look at the underlying data... not infections which is what the lazy news outlets are quoting, but of hospitalizations and deaths. Infection numbers can and are rising with more testing.  If the infections keep going up, but the amount of people going into hospitals isn’t rising, then the states opening hasn’t created a problem.

I agree ... and the cruise lines are their last whipping boy ... and they aren't about to give that up. Everyone else has stood up to them, and like all bullies, they ran and hid. I hope the cruise line exec's have that leverage to bring to bear on them to.end this insanity.

So I saw that NCL had taken off cruises from the schedule to book for August and Sept. The first thought I had was more cruises are cancelled or going to be cancelled. That is not the case as i found out. I was told those cruises are not cancelled but "at capacity" and to my mind that means they are planning to sail at a much reduced capacity and won't/can't sell anymore cabins. Seem to be correct or I'm reading too much into this?

I use OneNote and Excel until I go to my destination or settle on a destination. Trip Advisor and TripIt, when I am researching in whatever place I am because they provide better information at the destination. I also rely on google maps A LOT.

My son has severe ADHD, and it would be a nightmare to try to manage him with a mask...The vacation would have a lot of fun sucked right out of it.....I am glad someone else understands that "just make him/her wear a mask" can be different across the population of people....

Back in 70s and 80s, it was popular for commedians to joke about Soviet Bloc media .... mainly because it was true and low hanging fruit for joke writers. Our media today would be a laughing stock when compared to vintage Pravda! ??

AND since I clearly was just guilty of a deviation from theme...
... remember when we used to talk about cruises on this board? ?????

My son is 7 and we are behind with the therapies but he has been going to speech, occupational for this school year. The "school at home" stuff really made that hard on us as his therapies were then being done at home over the computer. My husband wants us to exhaust non-medication helps before looking at giving him medications. He doesn't want him to think that medicine will cure everything and that he doesn't have to try or take responsibility for his decisions in the future. In other words, outside play is our friend!  The cruise we have planned for August will be a great week for him energy wise. It is a time that he can just be a kid not in a classroom for a little longer. I truly hope that we can all get back to cruising very soon and that our kids can start truly having fun again!

With my asthma, it doesn't even require heat to cause other issues. I am very attuned to my body and its responses to environmental stimuli as it relates to my condition. I have noticed that my body temperature begins to rise soon after starting to wear the mask even in an air conditioned office.
My employer is currently requiring temperature scans to enter the building and wearing of masks while on site. Thankfully, my role has been primarily WFH since mid-March because on the few occasions it has been necessary for me to go into the office, I have been miserable with the mask for even a short time. Yesterday was one such time I needed to go into the office briefly and I decided to perform an informal experiment. I asked the employee doing the temperature scan to write down my reading on entering the building and then to check me again as I exited. In just 20 minutes of non-exertion wearing a mask in a comfortable indoor environment, my scannable temperature rose 0.9 degrees. It takes an hour and a half mowing the lawn (self-propelled walk behind mower) in the hot sun to do the same.
Masks = bad news for me.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one as well. People who don't have kids with ADHD don't understand how challenging it is in just a normal day, let alone something like this. He has sensory issues as well which can just make things even worse. If they really want to see a parent look like a tyrant then have them make my son wear one and me trying to keep it on him or not mess with it constantly. It'll suck the fun out of more than just OUR vacation.

I'm not saying that a larger population is the reason things aren't getting better. I'm saying that it is why things look worse than they are when you look at just numbers and not percentages in ratio with our total population. I just saw where 1 million people are said to have gotten the virus. While that is a lot of people, it is also about half of the population of New York CITY. The US has a population of about 328.2 million people, which makes only about 0.3% of the population getting the virus. However, if 1,000,000 people get sick in Italy, who has a population of about 60 million, that is almost 2% of the population. IMO, there is too much doomsday speaking with all of this. There is a recovery rate of about 98%, (in people w/o underlying conditions) but you don't hear about that. Yes, our choices can effect others, but knowing what choices to make isn't that easy when the CDC keeps changing the information.

Interesting to hear from Cruising With Don that Michael Bayley has announced RCCL have shelved Seaface and said that if they need to use masks they can order them.
Being a glass half full kinda guy I see this as an encouraging indication that RCCL are not looking to make face masks mandatory for guests ?

Your information is incorrect. People with the flu do get multi system organ failure which leads to all of the other complications you describe. I went to my states government website and found that 94% of Covid deaths are in people 65 and over or with medical conditions. That leaves all healthy people under 65 having a far less than 1% chance of dying from Covid. It seems it would be a better approach to isolate the group at high risk than to quarantine everyone. Young people know this and that's why the majority aren't scared.

Hi!  You mention these people as being careless.  The problem with this whole situation is that all of the data out there is dirty with no really good answer to support either argument.  The rules for certain gathering types and business and in which ways large numbers of people can gather make no sense.  I think this is why some people are not listening to government mandates as much as some would like.  I would not call it careless.
