I don't know if this is accurate, but this is the most detailed information I have seen about the actual virus.  Thanks.

Noro is a tough one to kill.  Most sanitizing wipes do not kill the virus.  I only know of three, that can be sold to the public, that are effective.
    1. Oxivir TB Wipes
    2. Clorox Hydrogen Peroxide wipes (from their Healthcare line, not the regular Clorox wipes)
    3. Sono disinfecting wipes

Interesting addition to an article I've been following :
    "IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - CORONAVIRUS
Last evening dining out with friends, one of their uncles, who's graduated with a master's degree and who worked in Shenzhen Hospital (Guangdong Province, China) sent him the following notes on Coronavirus for guidance:
    1. If you have a runny nose and sputum, you have a common cold
    2. Coronavirus pneumonia is a dry cough with no runny nose.
    3. This new virus is not heat-resistant and will be killed by a temperature of just 26/27 degrees. It hates the Sun.
    4. If someone sneezes with it, it takes about 10 feet before it drops to the ground and is no longer airborne.
    5. If it drops on a metal surface it will live for at least 12 hours - so if you come into contact with any metal surface - wash your hands as soon as you can with a bacterial soap.
    6. On fabric it can survive for 6-12 hours. normal laundry detergent will kill it.
    7. Drinking warm water is effective for all viruses. Try not to drink liquids with ice.
    8. Wash your hands frequently as the virus can only live on your hands for 5-10 minutes, but - a lot can happen during that time - you can rub your eyes, pick your nose unwittingly and so on.
    9. You should also gargle as a prevention. A simple solution of salt in warm water will suffice.
    10. Can't emphasise enough - drink plenty of water!
    THE SYMPTOMS
    1. It will first infect the throat, so you'll have a sore throat lasting 3/4 days
    2. The virus then blends into a nasal fluid that enters the trachea and then the lungs, causing pneumonia. This takes about 5/6 days further.
    3. With the pneumonia comes high fever and difficulty in breathing.
    4. The nasal congestion is not like the normal kind. You feel like you're drowning. It's imperative you then seek immediate attention."

The BBC over the past 10 tears has become a shadow of what it used to be for factual journalism, they have become a puppet of the government and the rich / influential. their political team have a free reign to say whatever their government sources leak them, with no traditional checks and balances ie. obtaining credible  confirmation before publishing.

Some folks were quick to criticize China and Iran for downplaying the virus.  Wouldn't it be ironic if the US followed them trying to bolster the financial markets?

The Word is we should know about our sailing out of Singapore on the 30th by 4th March ? We're  in the same position, didn't use a travel agent and all elements booked separately including hotels. Credit card and insurance should cover all eventualities I hope.
My view is no point in worrying about it, whatever will be will be its only a holiday. I ours is sailing I going.

Call me a cynic, I wonder now that the financial markets and the virus has possibly reached the US will we see the media all of a sudden down play the seriousness of the virus, it played into  many hand financial & political to create a panic especially as it was centred in Asia.

People can muster any statistics they like for or against something and they will push their agenda on others. Make your own decisions.
Before this all got the coverage it was getting now in the world people didn't have the information or really understand what the disease was. Those folks were not as informed as we all are now.
There is a clearly a health risk in the world. A simple way to avoid it is to avoid it. For us, we have chosen to avoid it and skip cruising for a bit.
Almost everything in life comes with risk. Whatever your choice is it will be the right one for you.
When it comes down to it we are just talking about vacations here. People are actually getting very sick and many have died. We should keep that in perspective here.

The quarantine on the Princess in Japan was a total disaster.  The crew was in even more danger than the passengers yet they kept working  I wonder if in addition to a refund on their trip those with insurance are covered for costs like not being able to come back for those who didn't take the flight back with the sick patients.  I also wonder what is happening with the Westerdam passengers.  Are some of them still stuck in Phonm Pehn?  No airline or country wants to allow them to fly.  And now that they are saying that the incubation time might be as long as 27 days where does that put the effectiveness of the quarantine.  It is still not our of control here in the US but it will no doubt get here and cause panic.  I think whats worse than the disease is the panic it causes.  People behave unreasonably when they are afraid.  The death rate so far is at 2% which is much higher than the flu's .01 but still not as bad as SARS or MERS, but it does seem to spread quite quickly.  I hope we can all stay level headed but seeing what is going on in Italy it seems like the horse has left the barn.  Hopefully by the time it reaches us we will be more sensible about it now that we have a bit more information.   It disproportionatly affects the old and those with underlying conditions.  Children somehow are not as vulnerable and they have not had many cases of severe illness in children and preganant women  I just heard on NPR 80% of those affected have a mild case of it with few symptoms   Call me crazy but I'm taking some extra food with me for my cruise next week!  Just in case we end up in quarantine because one person slipped through those cracks.   Like I said I am more worried about the panic and overreaction than the actual disease.

Thinking too narrow....in the US at least it is being used to drive mob actions that have negative economic implications and created negatives for the current administration for the sole purpose of impacting the upcoming elections.  No matter where you fall in the political spectrum that is troubling.....and that's about all I'll say about it.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ this site looks to have accurate info - like you my feeling is the media is over hyping the situation. Looking at the figures the rate total of new suspect cases world wide is on the decline {when I checked yesterday}.
In my opinion the web based news media are using the virus as click bate and TV media and Newspapers are not much better.

Not sure about hysteria, but walking outside has killed more people (>6k pedestrian deaths in US for 2019) than CV. News should sensationalize it, dogs should be trained not to walk and yeah markets should correct more on such news.

It is in the airlines' best interested to stay on top of the whole fluid situation, so I trust this list to be as accurate as anything.
