  1. It is different in every country, but you don't need prescriptions in a lot of places. You would want to do a little research and make plans to get refills in certain places. You could also try to get enough before you leave to cover the whole thing. Insurance usually doesn't allow for this, but unless it is a controlled substance, Dr's should be able to write scrips for that long. You may have to pay for it out of pocket.
  2. As long as you are the main person on the reservation, you can. Try to have their passport info available, but you can skip some of the questions and come back to them later - or modify them later. You just need to get through to the part where the check in time comes up.
  3. It's a once in a lifetime experience to be able to visit so many places. Obviously its not for everyone for many reasons. I love the idea, but I can think of many challenges even if I were retired and had the money. Having said that, I will admit it is something I would love to do someday. I hope it is successful and is continued.
  4. I make a paper copy and keep it with us. I also have a picture of each passport saved on my phone. The passports themselves stay on the ship in the safe. If something happens, there is a very good chance that the ship staff could remove them and hand them over to the port agent. To answer the OP's original question, you do not need passports on US sailings. Just make sure the birth certificates are the "official" ones with a raised seal - not a copy. I would highly recommend getting them if you plan future cruises. The main reason is that you would be unable to easily return to the US without one if for whatever reason you had to leave the ship early in a foreign port.
  5. Although I love Royal. They do not have a good customer call center. It's probably the main reason that people spend so much time on these boards. It sounds like your issues go beyond normal so I would escalate it up to the executive level, maybe email Michael Bailey. I can say that I have seen LGBT meet up listed on the cruise planners and cruise compasses posted here. The Live Blog section has some from recent sailings. There are also plenty of experienced solo cruisers here that would happily answer and questions you have.
  6. Roatan is safe, but very poor. I would recommend booking a driver for the day that will take you from place to place and ensure you are well taken care of. We use this company Home - Roatan Tours, Cruiseship Activities, Excursions, Zipline Canopy Tours with Ronys Independent Tours, Roatan (ronystours.com)
  7. If everything goes right, 10:30 is doable. Unfortunately, things can cause delays. You will need to secure transportation to the airport, check bags, and get through security before boarding starts at around 10am.
  8. Has anyone tried asking for a bottled beer - not opened to put in the room fridge?
  9. I'm a little confused. I'm on this same cruise and the change happened last December. I was rebooked on Liberty from Allure at that time. Did you get rebooked then and the new cabin was cancelled, or are you just now getting moved?
  10. Usually, there is too much light pollution from the ship combined with high humidity from being at sea. Its better than most areas that people live that have really bad light pollution, but not as good as you would see in an area with low humidity and minimal light pollution. Having said that, I really enjoy being on my balcony at night viewing the stars.
  11. Wow, Did they make other arrangements to get the crew off the ship?
  12. I would hire a car and driver. Keep in mind that the airport is well outside of Rome and the Port is also well outside. To be honest, I don't think the timeline will work very well based on the travel time into Rome and to the port. The airport is a minimum 45 minute drive into Rome, and the Port is a minimum 1 hour drive from Rome. This company can let you know if your timeline would work. http://www.romeinlimo.com/ As an alternate, I would suggest visiting Ostia Antica. It is very close to the airport and you could arrange for a driver to pick you up, allow you to tour, and then get you to the port at your scheduled time. Ostia is 5 minutes from the Airport, and 1 hour from Civitavecchia. Again, email Rome in limo with the plan and they can get you pricing. Ostia Antica - Wikipedia
  13. My March 2022 cruise on Liberty had Jamaica and Grand Cayman replaced with Roatan and Costa Maya so it looks like Royal expects this to continue inot next year.
  14. It means nice casual. Pants and a nice collared shirt for men.
  15. Right now, there is no sale at all on cruise planner purchases - I am guessing that you will see the same or similar price when the next "sale" starts up.
  16. The Royal beach breaks go to Playa Mia - the basic one is $40.99 in my cruise planner.
  17. You would need to take a test on November 27th, 28th, or 29th. It can be the antigen (rapid) test with results in 15 minutes. I'm on a cruise the week before and I purchased the take at home tests that I bought through Royals' recommended vendor. Optum Store | Optum Store You will need to download the app on to your cell phone and have a "proctor" witness the test. You can also book an appointment at a place like CVS that administers the tests. They allow bookings 2 weeks out.
  18. There are a lot of threads on this site that discuss options. CVS and the take home tests offered by Royal are good options - results are instant. Is your cruise this weekend?
  19. Yes - This has been required for a while. Antigen test is required within 2 days of boarding.
  20. I would always book private snorkeling excursions where possible. You typically have less people and just get more for your money. We bring our own mask and rent the fins locally if possible in order to carry less. There are several places that have very good snorkeling from the beach - Roatan, Cozumel, and St Thomas (Trunk Bay, St John's) come to mind. I'm sure there are others.
