  1. MEI is a sponsor on this site. I'm not sure if any of their agents have experience with your situation. I do know that Royal is set up to deal with many different disabilities - I'm not sure whether they would be able to provide a personal guide for a tour. There are also some special cruises that Royal offers where there are staff dedicated to your situation, I'm not sure if any are offered on Alaska cruises but you can check at this link Autism Friendly Ships | Accessible Cruises | Royal Caribbean Cruises @Sharla from MEI may have an agent that has experience
  2. I have never been to Amsterdam, but English is spoken widely all over Europe. I would have all your addresses printed out so that you could show a taxi driver where you want to go. You could also have google translate on standby, but I doubt you will need it.
  3. It's definitely confusing but I guess they have been running it this way for a while. I was looking over the ship excursions and will probably book some just to be sure. I'm not showing anything listed for Barcelona, which for us is a stop. I have private tours with Romeinlimo.com planned for all of the Italy stops, but that won't work if we are restricted.
  4. Usually, MTD is very chaotic on Day 1 so I wouldn't plan on it. If it were me, I would book a specialty restaurant for night 1 at a later time.
  5. Anyone keeping up with the latest on cruising in Europe? I have a cruise on Wonder in June 2022 (Rome, Naples, Mallorca, Barcelona, Marseilles, and Livorno). I'm wondering specifically about the shore excursions. I understand that Italy was requiring "bubble" excursions in 2021, is that still the case? Was it just Italy or the entire EU? Any other major differences between what we are seeing in the US? Obviously, a lot could change one way or the other, but I want to get some ship excursions booked if they are likely to be required.
  6. Our check in opened 90 days out, and then closed down again until 45 days out - with new times available.
  7. Unfortunately, that is currently the rule that the governments of those countries are requiring for cruise ships to dock. If those countries change their rules, I'm sure that Royal would revert back to their overall policy that allows for vaccinated passengers to depart for their own excursions.
  8. Celebrity is definitely not designed for kids. Not to say that you couldn't bring them but there won't be as many activities aimed at them. I would look at Disney if you want a higher end line with kids. Carnival will be similar to Royal in basic experience with kids.
  9. I have a cruise scheduled June 2022 on Wonder out if Rome. I'll be happy when they extend it to then. I'm not happy with the "bubble only" excursions that were required in 2021.
  10. You could ask to have your 12 year old "moved up" The teen program on Oasis is pretty loose (My 15 year old was just on Oasis November 21). Not a whole lot of planned events - kids mostly just hanging out on their own. I asked my son if this was because of Covid and he said that the counselors told them that they did it that way because the teens preferred it. The teen meet up is Day 1 at 7pm - it is very important that the teens be there to meet the other teens and form groups.
  11. Here is a link to a cruise compass from Oasis from back in Oct. Day 2 was PDCC - as you can see, there isn't much open. Oasis of the Seas 4-night Bahamas & Perfect Day at CocoCay Cruise Compass - November 3, 2021 | Royal Caribbean Blog
  12. I would call and ask about international coverage. I would be surprised if its free worldwide. On AT&T, they have an add on where you pay $10 per day when you use international - it works in all the ports I have ever been to. You definitely will incur charges on the ship if you use the cellular tower - always make sure your phone is on airplane mode while at sea.
  13. You can test all of this out by using your home wifi and putting your phone on airplane mode.
  14. Cozumel has really good beach clubs. Paradise Beach, Mr Sancho's and Nachi Com are the most popular if you just want to relax.
  15. Wow, too bad! We were a little later (6:30) and I think it may have been a little less hectic at that time. We had Alma all week and had no issues at all.
  16. You should just bid what you are comfortable with and then don't stress over it. There's no secret to winning, beyond the strongest bid winning. In some cases, what you are giving up matters because they can then award it yo someone else. For Star class, you can factor in the savings from any drink package, dining package and tips into your bid.
  17. They won't be at the same terminal. It should be business as usual. Just walk off your luggage and you should have plenty of time.
  18. My first insight is that this is something your TA should be doing for you. They may be inexperienced.
  19. I believe you can do it through the app for 1.99 per person per day. I always get the 2 device package for the 2 cell phones and use whatsapp. This allows us to stay in contact with people on land (our house/dog sitter) and also keep up with online stuff ( Like the RC Blog!). Either way works.
  20. Work through your travel agent to prepay gratuities. If you booked direct through RC then you can just call them.
  21. Coastal Kitchen on Oasis was great. The restaurant manager was very involved. We ate there the whole week. We had requested to have the same waiter the whole week and she was great- always sent my son away with a full plate of cookies to go. We also had really good service in the lounge. We typically showed up 30 minutes early for a pre dinner drink and we were always served very quickly.
