I agree with @WAAAYTOOOabout trying Odyssey or even Anthem of the Seas. The Quantum class ships are quite different than the rest of the fleet. The shows (including the 270 experience) are unique.

Count me in as a fan of Sorrento's for a good late night snack. Anthem seemed to have the best that we've tried so far. I'm not a pizza snob and enjoy the chains and the local mom and pop places too. Even found a good pizza place in Philly!

Double Crown & Anchor points on ALL 2021 sailings. . .
Va4fam replied to Baked Alaska's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
thanks @Lovetocruise2002, I edited my question to specify this is not a solo cruise. If it was, my wife would not be happy. Sounds like 28 points is the winner. We have a JS booked in September and another in October= hello Diamond status! -

Just playing along at home......does a non solo 7 night JS count for 21 or 28 points? -
Double Crown & Anchor points on ALL 2021 sailings. . .

Did the Double C & A points promotion expire last night or is it good through the end of the year? -
Last night we moved our Empress sailing in February to 2022. We are now on Oasis but lost a night of the itinerary. Just don't see things returning to normal for a long time.

Did Covid-19 Kill The Early Check-in?
Va4fam replied to FManke's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Just wondering out loud.......if we are boarding later in the day, how long will it take our bags to make it to our cabins? -
How soon after you became empty nesters?
Va4fam replied to Baked Alaska's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I'm not sure......I think the evites have already been sent. ? -
How soon after you became empty nesters?
Va4fam replied to Baked Alaska's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Not empty nesters but we are close. Both kids would be in college this Fall but now with COVID19, they might still be home. We had an 11 night Anthem cruise planned for January and our oldest would be home to house/pet sit. That would be nice but the cruise has been lifted to 2022. We've gone on several cruises the exact same time that our youngest seems to have a party at our house.....what a coincidence! -
Will Navigator ever have longer itineraries?
Va4fam replied to sryan's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
We sailed Navigator "pre-amp" back in 2018 and I think she was still doing 5 and 9 day itineraries so it's not out of the question she will get rotated out of the 3 and 4 day trips in the future. Understand with COVID19 it might be a while before that happens. -
We went to Wonderland on Anthem. The experience is out of this world, very creative and festive. The food was definitely different than what we would typically eat but we tried everything they put in front of us. Go for the experience if nothing else. You can always go to Sorrento's later.

We saw a proposal on Anthem in December and the cruise staff was definitely involved. Everything took place in the Music Hall and the cruise activities director did a great job of making it a total surprise for the bride to be and the audience. She said "YES".

That's great news. Sometimes everything works out better than you expected.

What's your dream itenerary for 2022-2023 sailings
Va4fam replied to Kathleen's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
At this point, my dream cruise is any sailing to just about anywhere. Hope we are back to normal by then. But Greek Isles would be a close second. -
More Lift and Shift Nonsense - can’t go from 8 to 7 night??
Va4fam replied to BunnyHutt's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
We had the opposite issue with L & S.....trying to move an 8 night Empress sailing to 2021 for an 8 night Jewel sailing with same exact itinerary. Royal said NO. They want us to move to a 7 night Oasis sailing with similar itinerary. Moving from 8 nights to 7 is not ideal but moving from a JS on Empress to Oasis.............we are definitely considering it. -
Interesting info. Seems like a good time for us to embrace the WOW bands on Royal.

The Inevitable Cancellations -- NCL
Va4fam replied to DunkelBierJay's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
@IanT.......my mistake. Our cruise is on Oasis in October. I have Anthem on the brain because we sailed her last December from Bayonne, and hopefully January 2021 from Bayonne. -
The Inevitable Cancellations -- NCL
Va4fam replied to DunkelBierJay's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
We did a cruise at end of February and had no vacation plans until this Fall. Our next cruise is end of October on Oasis out of Bayonne. Not super confident it's going to happen but haven't cancelled yet. -
We are booked on 3 cruises in 2021 (11 nit Anthem in January, 8 nt Empress in Feb, and 7 nt. Symphony in October). Not super confident that we will be on the first 2 cruises. MEI is excellent and highly recommended no matter where you live.

Trying to decide between 2 ships....help
Va4fam replied to tigergal31's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Oasis also has the super cool 80s aqua show!!! -
Boo @WAAAYTOOO & @Lovetocruise2002......Love you guys but we are on this cruise too and hanging on to what little optimism we have left. Unfortunately you are probably right about the no cruises from Bayonne. But think how bad we and @druidspirit will feel if we cancel and the cruise sails without us. @Druidspirit.....I don't envy the position you are in. I think you try to get it corrected now or moved to a TA and let them do the heavy lifting.
-
I'm going to keep logging in today and tomorrow to see if any spots open up.
-
@Pima1988......is that an option? I thought you HAD to cancel before the site would allow you to book again?
-
Down to $44 for our October cruise, and DBP with VOOM is $52. Might have to jump on that one. I also tried to save on the Coco Beach Club, down from $79 to $68, to $59. So I cancelled and went back to book and it now says SOLD OUT.

We use a relatively inexpensive lightweight hardsided luggage set. They have wheels, retractable handles, and can expand if needed and easily fit under the bed on the ship. Each of the 3 bags that comes with the set can easily fit into the larger bag which makes storing on vacation or at home a breeze. We gave each of our kids a set when they graduated high school and our daughter said it was the best and most practical gift that she received. We bought them on a website that rhymes with COUPON.......not sure if I am allowed to say the name?
