  1. I have heard that if you contact them prior to boarding, the staff will make accommodations for your daughter.  Also, I'm not sure of her age, but I know the Adventure Ocean staff are trained in working with children on the spectrum as well.  There's an organization out there called Autism on the Seas (https://autismontheseas.com/) that has lots of information, even if you don't use their services.  Good luck!

  2. Certainly not a life-or-death or terribly important question, but one that I've been curious about for awhile: what is the difference between a 1V and a 2V class room on Oasis class ships?  Pictures, deck plans, etc. seem to indicate they're identical (as does the price), but there must be some difference or else there wouldn't be a class difference, right?

  3. Was a photo minor in college in the 90s, and worked as a 1-hour photo lab manager to help pay for school.  Would routinely cruise with 15-20 rolls of film.  Still remember traveling with my lead-lined film bags, and not having airport security do anything more than give them a precursory glance.  Pre-9/11 travel sure was a different world!

Maybe I got lucky on this, but I actually had two shoe organizers with metal hooks on my cabin bathroom door (one inside and one outside) and never heard anything about them not being allowed.  Mine were a standard size (prob the same as Kel Kel has) and they fit great.  The one inside the bathroom covered up the hook on the door but that didn't bother us.

Same.  Have used these on numerous cruises and have never had a problem...

@wllm1969 I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience. Maybe you should give your TA a call and let them know that it would be in their best interest to release your reservation as the poor service you have received isn't worth the $35 you have paid them after you tell all your friends of said service. Just saying.

Couldn't agree with this suggestion any more if I tried.

If it's for health reasons that you're thinking of switching to the Impossible Burger, you may want to consider this (copied from https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/health/diet-nutrition/a27286383/impossible-burger/ , which please see):

    "

    Is an Impossible Burger healthy?

Compared to a same-sized beef patty, an Impossible Burger contains a comparable amount of calories (240 to 260), but it scores lower in a few regards. The first is that it contains way less protein — 19 grams versus 28 grams — which may make it less filling, London says.

"The bigger downside of the Impossible Burger is that it’s also 2 grams higher in saturated fat, likely because of the coconut oil that's added," she adds. "Coconut oilcontains the highest saturated fat content of any plant-based oil, despite its super 'health halo.'"

The Impossible Burger also contains a lot more sodium — about 15% of your recommended value, compared to just 4% in plain beef.

once you click on it, if you scroll down to the bottom, their are other models....   and note, it doesnt 'say' memory foam on there but it sure feels like there is, and i am pretty sure there is... lol

Even if it's not actually Memory Foam, if it's close enough to fool you, it's close enough to make her happy!  Thank you from the both of us!  ?

I tried my first Impossible Burger in Texas at a burger place. TEXAS, the state of beef, BBQ, MEATTTT. I wasn't thinking of going plant based but we had gone to a steak house the night before and I was all beefed out. Felt pretty stupid ordering fake meat at a burger place but the cashier told me they all loved it. I loved it too and my meat eating friends were also impressed.

I appreciate non meat options, anywhere. I don't see it as catering to one specific group, I see it as all of us having more options.

I have a similar viewpoint.  On top of that, I have a family history of high cholesterol & type 2 diabetes, so now that I'm in my 40s, finding ways to stay ahead of that seems prudent.  I like going meatless at least a couple of meals a week, and while the Impossible burger certainly isn't a dead-ringer for it's beefy counterpart, it stands in for it well enough for me...

@JLMoran ,  thanks!.... that is another great idea!  I personally think that everyone should go for  comfort always, especially on vacation!  I am excited all to pieces, that Sketchers now makes these shoes that look like strappy dress shoes for ladies... but have memory foam and treads on the bottom like their athletic shoes... I got a pair to wear with my dresses on board, and they go perfectly...even with the more cocktail-y  formal  night wear~

Uhm, my wife is requesting a link to said shoes post haste!

I have to agree that the movies are usually played in the Aquatheater when they are not having shows there.  Still a great experience  just not pool side!

Absolutely still sounds like a good time, and a good option for younger ones who might not want to do AO one night (depending on the movie!).

  11. Now that Coco Cay is really up and running, has anyone done the glass bottom boat tour there?  Is it worth it?  Looking for something to do with my two boys (5 & 8), and while they both LOVE the beach, neither of them particularly  like water slides, so Thrill Island isn't much of an option.  We're also planning to do a beach day the next day in Nassau, so I wanted to break it up a bit for them.  Figured we'd start the day on the 11 AM tour, then spend the afternoon exploring CocoCay.  Would appreciate any feedback!

I have not sailed on Oasis yet, but check out some of the past Cruise Compasses for information on show times and activities:

    https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/cruise-compass

You can filter by ship and similar sailings.

God, this is such an easy solution once someone points it out to you.  ?  Thanks for the direct link, @cdixon22, made it all that much easier.

For future topic searchers: looks like the outdoor movies on Oasis are at the Aquatheater, which while probably not QUITE as exciting for the kids, makes a ton of sense logistically...

  13. Hey all!  Another topic that I've seen conflicting information on, so I figured I'd turn to the experts.  Do they do movies on the pool deck on Oasis-class ships (specifically, OAS?).  I've seen some deck plans that mark the movie screen, but not Oasis'.  If they do, do they generally play a kid-friendly movie or two?  It seems like something both my boys would absolutely love!  TIA!  ?

NICE! I really need to book Celebrity for the 7 night to Bermuda, it stays in Kings Wharf the entire time, but that's okay.

Absolutely.  The Hamilton night was good for the convenience of going into town and exploring the bar scene until the wee hours, but other than that it wasn't a huge deal.  What WAS impressive was watching them navigate into the port.  You could lean over the sides and it sure LOOKED like you were mere feet from the reefs on both sides coming in.  I was still in the Coast Guard at the time, and the thought of being on that bridge gave me palpitations! ?

I really wish Royal would make that a 7 night sailing with two overnights in Bermuda.

I did that exact cruise on Empress of the Seas (it was still Nordic Empress at the time!) back in 2000, and it included an overnight in Hamilton!  It was a really unique cruise having all of that time on the island with no rush to get back. We absolutely loved it!

  16. It's been a LONG time since my last cruise, but back in the day I had luck with these bad boys:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001UE7SC8/?coliid=I2RUK5KY694XZQ&colid=27FAG42S5W2OK&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

No wire or surge protection, but grounded.  No one ever gave me any trouble.

As an aside, on my last family trip, we foolishly left our sound machine/projector at home, and the boys were not happy about it.  Downloaded an app from the Apple Store called Night Light which provided a nice choice and volume of white noise options AND scrolled through a series of colors on the screen if you wanted to to light up the room with some soft light.  It was a lifesaver, and the basic version was great (you can pay to upgrade for me sound options, but we didn't find that to be necessary).

  17. Hi all!  Curious if anyone has any experience using Groundlink (RCCL's suggested ground transportation company)?  We're leaving from Cape Liberty next August, and I can park at my in-laws about 20 miles from the port.  Ordinarily I would probably just Uber/Lyft in, but we'll be traveling with a 5 year-old, so the booster seat could be an issue.  I've also heard rumors that rideshare drivers in the Port Liberty area on arrival days hang back and refuse to pick up people until surge pricing kicks in, so that's not ideal, either.  So, Groundlink seemed like a possibility.  Any feedback/info?  Thanks in advance!
