I actually don't know the answer to this, because I've never taken a sick-day in the 5 contracts I've done.
As far as I'm aware, if we take a sick day, we get payed less for that day. When I was working in the shops, we would lose that days pay completely.

So slight change of plan.
Instead of flying to Spain, to join Oasis for the crossing, I'll be joining the ship now once it arrives in Fort Lauderdale.
So, I'll be flying to Miami now from Orlando in 2 weeks. And I'll have 1 night in a hotel, to relax before joining the ship. I much prefer this!

I have no reason to believe it will be cancelled.
In fact, they just told Cruise Critic the other day things are looking great
 

I am booked on Oasis December 1 (second sailing after drydock) just noticed that the first 3 sailings after drydock are no longer available for booking. Freaking out a little that these sailings will be canceled....trying not to be paranoid but......not working. Any insight?  This is affecting the first 3 sailings after dry dock....I know Matt Hochberg is booked on the November 24th sailing because I've heard him speak of on the podcast.  I will be so sad if my sailing is canceled......

I'm going on Brilliance starting December 14th so I am hopeful that the ship will be decked out for Christmas like your ship is for Halloween. From what I have been told it should be.

I wish you would send this to the Today Show or post it on their Facebook page.  I used to really enjoy the Today Show but now it just makes me sick because they are making ratings off of this and they are totally wrong. 

You could see on the day of this unfortunate accident how far away the play area was.  It was taped off with yellow crime scene tape/  There was no kid  area in their photos/  

The grandfather dropped the baby. There is probably video of it and if there is, it would eliminate all speculation and stories.  Remember the original story was that the baby climbed up on a chair.The grandfather is the proximate cause. I wonder if any of the people who witness this catastrophe and are suffering from PTSD and receiving counseling will be lining up to sue the family for their distress. They will likely have claims too. I don't think it would be in Royal's interest to just settle.

I called customer service when I was booking the shows for my January cruise and asked them why it wasn't on the cruise planner anymore.  He said I would have to book it once onboard. (This was before I read about there being issues... or I would have inquired more)   Sounds like it might be a day to day thing?

I think we can all understand where you're coming from. It's unacceptable to have a room in sub-standard conditions, whether that is smell, upkeep or anything.
What I think everyone is trying to convey is these type of situations are best handled on the ship.  Once you're off the ship, it limits the response because they can't see what occurred any more and unfortunately there are a lot of people who try to "game the system" to get something after cruises are over to recoup vacation costs.
I hope you won't let this stop you from cruising with Royal Caribbean all together.

This is why I asked you right away if you brought it to the attention of the concierge.  Unfortunately, most complaints don't go anywhere once you get off the ship.  Hopefully, this doesn't deter you from future cruises with Royal, but most definitely, next time, say something right away.  From your initial post, those were valid complaints.

You now sound like a very disgruntled person, and over $50. You really may want to reconsider your future trips as there is a high likelihood of you being very dissatisfied.  It's too bad but sometimes after someone becomes soured over something, everything changes for them.

I agree with @BB1, I would have brought this up to guest services at that time. I have seen post after post where concerns are brought to guest services on board and attempts are made to make things right immediately. 

Sorry but the only way to have things handled is to take care of them on the ship. There is nothing they can do for you now. Having a tantrum now is useless. People would have infinite complaints afterwards if they thought they would receive something. It's a good lesson for all of us.

I have posted it as a reply to posts by clueless people who ask, "Why would there be an open window in the children's play area on the 11th deck of a ship?"
I so want to reply to them, "Hey, go one deck up and you will see an entire deck surrounded by just OPEN railings!!! How careless of the cruise company!!!" (Sarcasm intended)

EXACTLY!  This is the reason why I have gotten very defensive of Royal on this issue.  I am beyond appalled by the lawyer's allegations and spin on the narrative.  The way I see it, the cause of the accident is NOT the children's play area being on that deck with the windows, NOT the open window, NOT the toddler being fond of banging glass on hockey games, NOT the lack of additional safety measures taken by Royal ... IT IS THE GRANDFATHER PUTTING THE TODDLER ON THE RAILING!!!

This is excellent!! It would be great if someone could post it to Facebook or Twitter where it might go viral.
