  1. How has RCCL dealt with redeemed Credit Card Reward Points following a COVID cancelation?

Our Aug 2020 cruise was canceled last summer.  I had redeemed 15,000 Reward Points for a $150 discount on our cruise.  I received a FCC for the canceled cruise, but cannot see how the credit was dealt with.  The points were not returned to my rewards account and I cannot tell if they are included in my FCC.

  2. Radiance has several.  1044 JS connecting to 1046 standard balcony.  1044 is very large for a JS with large walk in closet, and large sitting area in front of balcony doors.  Only JS on the ship that connects to a standard balcony.  The two balconies are divided by a bulkhead that does not open up.  1054 has a very unique two bedroom layout with only the smallest sliver of a balcony.   7004 and 7504  family suites with large sitting area, king bed sleeping area, one bath, bunk bed nook, large forward facing angled window that my then young children could sit on the ledges underneath and look out over the bow.

Harmony 6648 JS and 6650 standard balcony.  One of only two or three connecting JS with standard room on the ship.  Located starboard these connecting rooms are the last two room on the rear hump and balconies can be opened to make one large deep balcony.  Conveniently located near elevators, stairs and the Boardwalk, only one deck above the Centrium.

  3. As stated above you do get double points for all days of the cruise tour.  There was no upgrade in room or travel for the land tour portion.

If you have not been to Alaska before or to the areas of the land tour,  I would recommend the RCL Land Tour.  I felt that we got our money's worth on all portions of the land tour.

When we go back to Alaska for another cruise, we will plan our own land tour with a trip above the Arctic Circle, more time in Denali and Anchorage and take the train all the way down from Fairbanks to Seward.

Any risk of massive static shocks from that? Or is that just a thing for drama in Hunt for Red October?

    Yes!

You reduce the risk of static discharge by one of two methods.  First you can allow the winch cable to touch the pad/ground before a person touches it.  Second you can use an insulated grounding rod or hook to touch/hook the cable before a person touches the cable.

  5. It has been almost a year without cruising.  I expect considerable mass retraining is in order for new and old crew on both old and new SOP's as well as the ships to be used at the re-start.

Under normal operations ships of all kinds are in near continuous operation.  Crew members are trained OJT as crew members that leave service are replaced.   Prior to restart the whole service side of the cruise industry must be trained and retrained.  I can see this taking a month or more on land and then time at sea and then CDC fake cruises and then re-start.

Don't forget quarantine for two weeks and 3 weeks between vaccinations.

If July/August is the goal to re-start, I think late April may not be too soon.

  6. I would review the policies on Royal's Cruise with Confidence program.  You have several options, Lift and Shift at anytime, 125% FCC if Royal cancels or 100% fare refund if Royal cancels, 100% FCC if you cancel before they do or partial refund under the original terms of your booking if you cancel before they do.

I have a Dec 2020 cruise and expect it to cancel.  This was paid for with a 125% FCC from a previous COVID canceled cruise from August.  I will take the 125% FCC when and if Royal cancels the cruise and use it in 2021.

My FCC was issued about 45 days after my August cruise was canceled.
