  1. I saw her examples... More detailed than what I had... I had One free spin in casino but nobody seemed interested  in telling me where or how to take that spin...  I did see somewhere recently (maybe while checking in or using cruise planner) about getting that discount on logo goods in the shop. That would likely be  something I might use... Curiosity peaking now. Wonder what they load on the kids... ?

  2. Looking through C+A stuff... I see the term "special offers preloaded into sea pass card". I read further to refer to welcome letter... I have done so and find like our voom codes or other stuff but don't recall seeing stuff loaded on the card. I have seen mentioned near the casino to "swipe your card for a free spin" but it doesn't say where to swipe it. I really havn't taken advantage  of C+A bennies (not that there are a lot at gold soon to be platinum) but that has been  as a result of really not knowing how to work that system. What goodies am I missing?.. Any tips?

  3. I get stuck driving  all the way from New Jersey to Palm Beach on some of our trips. I get to tote the luggage and be the chauffeur when the fiance' and her kids fly in...  I have my house in palm beach so its about an hour to Lauderdale, maybe 2 to Miami and about 2 to Canaveral. ?

  4. Now see... This is why I eat far too many donuts and hot dogs and other stuff for my own good,  I look at all you "healthy people" getting sick. I seldom do.  Might it be that diseases can't thrive in a a junk food environment? Maybe its that I'm just lucky? Even if I do get sick I had a fun diet until it happens... ? On a serious note, I wish everyone smooth sailing through the choppy waters of flu season...

  5. Well I'm the other way... I grabbed a post it  and a pen wrote "GOLD C+A" on it and  proudly rub everyone's nose in it! ?

Actually kind of sad that my old days time in suites was treated so poorly. less than a point a day or I'd be a proud Platinum...  Work schedules during my career didn't allow much time for cruising and I had spent a lot of time on other lines before I found RCL...  I'm loyal to them even if they aren't so much...

I am on a mission to get to diamond as soon as plausible...

Some of the charters may be different number of days from the original sailings (e.g. the charter is 3 days when the original sailing was 5 days) so they have to create new itineraries to fill in the other days that weren't chartered.

Seems odd to kill their only 7 day sailing of a popular ship for some shorty that disrupts three other sailings as well... Oh well...

  7. I can  see benefits in some of the perks for some when its over an year out. They aren't offering much this time. 50 a person and only 200 for non refundable air. Some of the dates fall on noting. Some however fall on holidays that families planned around (veterans day, thanksgiving)...  I'm hearing of 4th or even 5th cancellations and then new sail dates for open boat inside the cancelled date windows?  Lot of it I'm sure is rumor and misinformation but its confusing at best if in fact they are opening new open sail dates in the "chartered" windows...

Yes.  Not necessarily employees.  Often full ship charters are organizations or events like charity fund raisers or music concerts, etc.

I've seen one here and one there but three full weeks and maybe more? Then some were being offered dates that would be right in the middle of the other cancelled weeks? For example one being offered on Nov 19th which would be right in the middle of the 14-21st cancellation... This is certainly weird... At least 12,000 inconvenienced... They are only offering $200 for lost airfares which doesn't come close...

Cruises taken before the change in the program around 2013 were only 1 credit per cruise. At that point a calculation was made to translate your credits to points based on how far you were to the next level. My 4 cruises were translated to 27 points. Exactly 1 cruise needed to reach Platinum just as it was before the conversion. Should hit ? this year. Still years away from ?➕

For me they gave me 14 points for two. One was 7 days and one was 8 but both in suites... Would have been 30 points just for those two... Really should have started my quest for diamond at Platinum...

  10. Over on a social media giant, the Independence  of the Sea group came to life with a number of cancellations? Last count was at least three B2B trips involved. Saying they were chartered?  Nov.9, 14, 21 guests have been notified and rumors of others into Dec...  That puts at least 12,000 guests into having to find other trips or cancel... Pretty inconvenient and compensation being offered is coming up short. Any idea what is going on???

  11. The calculations today are straightforward. I really wish they had  applied same to older cruises. I used to travel in suite when I was a married and with my daughter. They only awarded single points to all my old stuff...  Only a few points difference but enough to represent a level difference...  Not the end of the world but slows me from getting to my diamond goal  some. Oh well...

I think the best thing is to take a deep breath. Iran has been saber rattling since 1979...  Recent years they have behaved badly a few times with no response. When they killed American citizens last week they crossed a line and were spanked. They tried our embassy. Guess what? We have a less tolerant president than Obama this time and we repelled it. We saw opportunity to take out a terrorist who was responsible for thousands of deaths over the years going back to Beirut 1983. We did just that. Ok,  they are jumping up and down and screaming but they lack the tools to mount a real offensive. For that matter I don't see that they have the tools to defend either. I see the word "escalation" used here ... I prefer to look at it as a few uncomfortable moments ending a war before it gets started... It has not gone well for any country to push too hard against the coalition. I have a hunch that their survival instinct will outweigh their desire to continue their little tantrum. Peace through a show of force if you will. Remain vigilant and follow advice from your respective countries as to the safety of passage through questionable waters.  Also bear in mind RCL does have your best interest as their best interest. I don't think they have any intention of serving up billion dollar ships into arms way either.

For those impacted. I wish you well and sober decisions will be made to answer your questions.

It appears that the tensions are subsiding. Peace through strength prevailing.  Not all the way out of the woods but significantly better.   Last nights deliberate "missing" signifies that Tehran is not really interested in getting into a fight they can't win.  I'm hoping those that will be going  through the affected areas have  wonderful relaxing cruises...
