  1. Well said. Just imagine if everyone had to have a negative test to enter a supermarket
  2. To add to what others have said, our agent has told us we can just forward her a copy of the booking that Royal emails us, and she takes care of the rest.
  3. Home remodeling is a never ending project. We started remodeling our kitchen back at the beginning of summer (I’m doing the work). Little did we know that after three years of saving so we could cash flow the remodel, summer 2021 would be the summer of no help at my real job and I’d be working 70-75 hours a week No house remodel would be complete without finding shoddy work from decades ago. I had to replace a quarter of the house framing due to an improperly attached deck from 30 years ago. The studs were so rotted they disintegrated when I pulled on them
  4. Thank you for sharing your cruise with us.
  5. My wife and I are both early risers, and having a balcony on Adventure back in September is what convinced us to never go back. We are both up and moving by 430 at the latest, even on vacation. We’d go down to the Cafe Promenade at 5. The crew member overseeing the Cafe from 5-11 just happened to be our head waiter, so he made sure to have a carafe of coffee ready for us so we could go sit on our balcony and watch the daylight arrive
  6. I wish I could figure out how to move the image so the text isn't placed like that. Edit: Well that's a bit better....
  7. Lesson learned. We were all set to book this...literally....then we couldn't...then it disappeared. I'm glad we now know how the deployment process works.
  8. We were perfectly fine with inside cabins until our first cruise of the restart. Since then, we’ve had two with balconies and one promenade view interior. We’ve decided to book balconies from now on. I say book a balcony for your first, then book a shorter one in an inside to see what works for you
  9. We didn’t realize this. Royal got us all excited….then they disappeared from the website.
  10. I never thought about using the two different cameras on our phones. My wife did hers on her laptop and thankfully had a very patient observer.
  11. We’re on the Jan 30 Oasis cruise as well.
  12. It’s quite the lifesaver when you feel a blister coming on and you’re a few days hike from any civilization and carrying a 40lb pack.
  13. I’m not sure what the actual deal is. When I asked, I was unsure of the procedure and asked our steward for help with the process. My wife and I thought he was just being nice when he brought me a different bag.
  14. In 2020 when I did a back to back for a total of 14 days, I asked our room steward about doing some laundry a couple days before the first cruise ended. We had one of those $30ish bags in the closet, but he got me a different bag that was cheaper and bigger. Not sure if that was a one-off because he liked us or not, but it would be worth it to ask your cabin steward what the best way to do laundry is.
  15. I don't have any answers, however my wife has never received consistent information about the coffee cards....whether it be usage from ship to ship or how many punches for a drink. After our last cruise, she has decided to never get a coffee card again. Not only was she getting conflicting information from ship to ship, she was getting different answers from different crew members on the same sailing. This sucks that you were made to feel this way.
  16. We’ve decided to do only one cruise in 2023 and make it a “Bucket List” cruise with a couple days tacked on each end for playing land tourists We originally thought Alaska, but are now leaning toward Europe. We’re waiting for the 2023 European itineraries to come out to make a final decision. I’m pushing for a short cruise at the end of 2022 so we don’t go on our bucket list cruise with only 79 C&A points.
  17. We’ve browsing and are tempted, but we are only doing one cruise in 2023 and want to see what the Europe offerings are when they come out.
  18. We ordered some this afternoon and saw the big expiration date announcement that looked just like posted above. Since we board on Jan 30, they will work for backup tests if our local ones fall through. Side note: At the beginning of this month we each took a CVS test for a cruise. My results came back within an hour. My wife’s results came back inconclusive after 7 hours. Without a home test, we would have been scrambling to find a test in Miami the next day.
  19. I’m guessing they can’t call it an AA meeting if it’s not officially sanctioned, so they do it this way. Kinda like when we were onboard Mariner during the Super Bowl and they had to call it “The Big Game”.
  20. I’ve never had my bag checked for sunblock. I have been on excursions where everyone is reminded to do their part in protecting the marine environment by using proper sunblock.
  21. Some reading. https://savethereef.org/about-reef-save-sunscreen.html
  22. Pre Covid in St Maarten, we did the America’s Cup Regatta that we booked on our own cheaper than through the Cruise Planner. About half of the people that were on our boat booked through Royal (and paid more). For our January cruise that goes to St Maarten, we’ve already reserved a spot on a non-Royal excursion. The company has already reached out to us to see which ship we’ll be on. I think most “reputable” third party excursions are aware of the bad reputation they’d get if any of their guests missed their all aboard time.
  23. The few times we’ve taken Uber/Lyft to Port Everglades, the driver has asked which ship while enroute (before we got the the Federal security gate). If they don’t ask, just let them know.
