  1. Biggest issue I have with January cruising weather is having to take a big jacket so I don’t freeze my butt off when I walk out of the airport when we get back home. Other than that, I stopped bringing even a light jacket
  2. Our first couple cruises we booked non-refundable deposits and crossed our fingers in hope that nothing would happen. Once we realized the importance of travel insurance, we were delighted to learn that there were policies that included coverage for the non-refundable part of our costs. Getting our non-refundable deposit back if there is the death of a family member is one of the things the policy we have covers, along with a bunch of other things. It definitely sucks, but its “lesson learned and do differently next time”
  3. Freedom/Voyager are interchangeable favorites for me
  4. Us too….Our 8-night in March ‘24 shows as Adventure this morning with the same cabin we had booked on Voyager.
  5. When I logged in to our account this morning, our march ‘24 sailing now shows up as Adventure and we have the exact same rear balcony cabin we chose originally along with the same itinerary.
  6. Unfortunately, Royal Up is not available for all sailings.
  7. According to the email we received as well as our travel agent, changes will be completed by August 18. I wouldn’t worry until after that.
  8. I’m not sure what it’s like now, but we flew out of Miami (on American) back in February, and PreCheck had to wait in the same security line as everyone else until you showed your boarding pass/passport…then you were given a card for expedited screening. The line was long.
  9. I see people wearing masks while shopping at the supermarket where I work. No one gives them a second glance
  10. The pins are neat, but I don’t know that I’d wear one around the ship. Only my wife got a pin when we went from gold to platinum, then the cruise after that one, she had an emerald pin waiting for her when we got to our cabin…..but we were still platinum. She got a kick out of that because I actually have one more cruise than she does…they matched her status to mine. Because of an apostrophe in our last name, my C&A stuff is a mess…..actually booking anything can be a mess. On the app I show the correct number of points, but Royal ends up spelling my name differently and I end up as gold or pre gold. Their system doesn’t recognize an apostrophe, so sometimes the first two letters have a space, sometimes they’re together, sometimes the first letter is considered my middle initial, and so on. We visit the C&A desk on each cruise to straighten things out but it invariably gets screwed up again When we call C&A they tell us that my points are correct for my actual C&A number but a different number is assigned to the current booking It’s kinda comical. We’ll hit Diamond after our October cruise. As long as I get the four drinks daily, they can keep the pin. Its not just Royal though. A lot of airlines have problems with the apostrophe too. My passport and Trusted Traveler info has it but when booking flights it’s not recognized by most software used by airlines
  11. I figure things will shake out in time. It’s a long enough way off that I’m not really concerned. We’ve been on Adventure three times and enjoyed ourselves each sailing.
  12. We were booked on Voyager for an 8-night leaving from Port Canaveral on March 1, 2024. We don't mind going Adventure instead, but we really want to get the same cabin we were in on Voyager. We booked very early to get an aft balcony. It appears that cabin 9692 is basically the same on both ships...our fingers are crossed.
  13. Wait. I got confused. We are also booked on Voyager in march 2024. That’s what it’s talking about Ignore me
  14. We just received the email about Voyager tonight. We were booked on her for a Canada cruise out of Boston in October.
  15. We prefer being close to the elevators as well.
  16. My wife and I bring three devices…she has an iPhone and I have an iPad and an iPhone. One of us gets a two device plan and I just make sure to sign off when changing from one device to the other.
  17. Time for a back to back then.
  18. I’ve heard the capacity announcement when doing a back to back. It was included with other info for the crew before boarding started, along with the instructions “make everyone’s vacation special”.
  19. Yup. I’ve shown inspection reports to coworkers who try to tell me how unsanitary cruise ships are. The interesting part of this fact is that I am a meat cutter for a large regional chain. My coworkers and I deal with cleanliness and food safety inspections all the time. When I have shown the reports, they have gotten a kick out the fact that ships have the same hits we typically do. I did the behind the scenes tour on Vision pre-pandemic. Everything I saw was spotless, and it was neat to see the same sanitation program in the galley that we use.
  20. We thought the same when we cruised on Oasis for the first time back in February.
  21. I guess this in part explains why our flight to Houston/Hobby was changed without our knowing. Thankfully we talked to a great AA rep who helped us find a good alternative.
  22. I didn’t realize Canada brought back entry requirements. My in-laws have been down a few times recently and they didn’t have any requirements. I guess we’d better read up for our October cruise on Voyager
