Zambia-Zaire got a reaction from JLMoran in Medical Needs and the Cruise Industry - Just a Thought
@JLMoran this article on the use of Chloroquine you provided in your post, confirms all the information I've been researching, on why the potential of the drug come highly recommended. The FDA Commish Hahn appear, imho, to be shorting Trump's suggestion the FDA looking into the use of this drug, in both the CNBC & Washington Post articles, for some apparent reason; and, hiding behind needing trials, when the drug is not only widely known(use since 1940); but, has been used effectively in treating SARS, a coronavirus cousin of Covid-19, as well as against malaria & autoimmune disorders. The drug is already in generic form with little to no history of "Side Effects"...so it boggles the mind why commissioner Hahn, appear to be resisting on reporting of its potential use, in this battle...the dosage is not difficult to determine. The drug "Remdesivir" is another potential drug, an anti-viral, that's already in current use in China, in combatting Covid-19.
However, great find & thank you for posting...I suggest everyone should read all three article, you linked to your post. ?

@JLMoran can you provide a link debunking the use of the drug chloroquine(malaria drug) for Covid-19...have not found anything debunking the possible use of the drug to combat Covid-19.

Well @accio7 I know you was just reacting to my post; but, consider this as well.
According to the World Health Organization, 56 million people die each year(health, disease, murder, accident, old age, war, suicide, etc), which is an average of about 153,424 people each day...which is close to the total number of people said to be infected with Covid19.

Yeah, I for one, get what you are saying...essentially you paying more cost, out of pocket, to do something you are already scheduled to do, because of price hike, in conjunction with the FCC...which in terms, is a net loss. Very unfortunate occurence.

    Interesting Note:
Base on an estimated World Population of 7.5 Billion people.
.002% of the world population is infected with Covid19
    .00008% has died from it.

I get it...your thoughts & all; however, I just have two major reasons why I completely disagree...I simply prefer not to create an ideology/political debate & bog down the blog, because someone may become more than overly enthusiastic about a view or opinion, speaking in general...hot bed issues these days, even with those on similar side of the spectrum.

I’m going to walk through my example so I can get this right, with a few questions if anyone can help:
Paid $4300 total for the cruise
$590 of that total was tax
Considering that, here are a couple questions/comments:
    1.  We would receive a cash/credit card refund for the tax, which would be $590.

    2.  Would the 125% FCC be applied to the $4300, or $4300 less the refunded taxes?
    3. When we receive the FCC April 13, are we only able to use the FCC  to book directly through Royal, or can we use a travel agent?
    4.  I know that if we rebook before we receive the FCC, we can’t apply it to the deposit we already paid, but if we book once we have the FCC,  could we just apply it to the trip without having to do a cash deposit (provided the cost of new cruise doesn’t exceed the FCC).  If so, the only money we would need to pay would be the taxes.  Do I have that correct?
Don’t want to be out more cash (especially since I’m now in Florida and trying to make a vacation out of it with the kids so unexpected costs now this week).  Too bad because I would like to rebook for August right now  but would need to pay a deposit that the FCC wouldn’t cover after the fact.
    Thanks for any help

Zambia-Zaire reacted to WAAAYTOOO in Another FCC Question
If these latest FCC's follow the rules of previous FCC's, taxes, ports fees, gratuities and any cruise planner pre-purchases (packages, excursions, etc.) will be refunded to the original form of payment (your credit card).  The FCC only applies to cruise fare but it does include your down payment as well.
  12. Thanks
Zambia-Zaire reacted to AshleyDillo in Another FCC Question
The 125% will be based on the cruise fare, so should be $4300 less the taxes.
When it is issued that FCC belongs to you.  You can book direct or tell your TA you want to use it and have them assist you.  If your TA says they can do it, find a TA that can!  Some Big Box places may not want to deal with the FCC.
No..you have to put down a deposit.  There has to be a booking created to apply the FCC towards.  You front the money for the deposit and then the FCC gets applied to the rest of the cruise fare.  You will get the remaining FCC issued as another FCC to use towards another cruise.

Not trying to start a political debate...we all have different pov; however; I feel compelled to say, companies should not be bailed out...that's a poor practice that not only have created a monster & has assimilated itself into culture; but also, has created huge fiscal & corporate, and quite frankly, natural imbalances, so ingrained, that it has created huge, powerful monopolies, that control every aspect of the commoners life....true Capitalism is dead...died a long time ago...I sorely miss it.

We are loyal to both Carnival and RCCL.  In this case, Carnival wins hands down.  We cancelled and rebooked our March 21st sailing on the Breeze before it was cancelled but after options to rebook were announced.  We took a slightly more expensive cruise.  Carnival transferred all of our cruise fare, deposit, taxes, and prepaid gratuities with no questions asked.  We just have to pay the difference which is about $100 each.

Per RCCL's Facebook folk, it's just those within the 30-day window. Others before July 31 still qualify for the "Cruise With Confidence" policy announced last week.

Hmmm....I dunno about that. There's no indication as of yet, that other lines are contemplating such measures; they trying increasingly hard to weather the circumstance. Princess on the hand has been hit with incident after incident after incident, that very difficult to recover from in the public eye, in the mist of a fluid situation. Their struggles no doubt may ultimately help precipitate the collapsing industry; but, it just seem other major lines are trying to better position themselves for the long haul.
However, you may ultimately be proven right....there's a number of people who share that sentiment.

That's very interesting....NCL is one of the smallest of the Major Cruise Line Corps; so, in many ways, they were probably the most likely to be the 1st, to leverage some of their holdings. I remember reading sometime ago, around 5 or 6 yrs ago, why NCL pull back on continue developing of the Epic class of ship...they were not happy with that class. I suspect the Epic was their largest holding, that they could leverage, that they was more than willing, to gamble & possible loose.
I would have been completely surprise if Royal had take such a move...even with one of their most least profitable or older holding, outside of Empress, Majesty, & Enchantment, or some combination there of. Royal, Imho, no doubt, is in the best position to weather this storm...which in some ways is still surprising, they would expand/increase their loans by another $550Mil. Those guys are very business savvy & have a pretty sound assessment, of their strength and position in the market. This move maybe more about staying ahead of the curve, moving forward(futures market), than something more presently dire.
