We were on Adventure last week and it was the fastest boarding process we've experienced. We were on the ship about 10 minutes after our parking shuttle dropped us off at the terminal. We were in a suite and there was only one family in front of us. We didn't even really have time to look around at the new terminal before we were onboard. Disembarkation was just as fast. From the time we left the lounge where suite guests were waiting until we were in our car was about 20 minutes and that included waiting for the parking shuttle driver to load everyone's luggage.

Hard to tell. The 9 month old’s favorite thing on the ship was eating. Royal lost money with the kids sail free with the 9 month eating so much.
the 7 year old loved the waterslides and ice skating best.
The two year old and the stowaway piano player were best friends but that wasn’t his favorite, that goes to the hand sanitizer stations. He never passed up a chance to sanitize them.

I'm literally in a food coma from Giovanni's so I will update the escapades tomorrow.
@AdrianaI wasn't interested in the captain,  the vintages are. I don't know how to say cuteness. I guess he looks like an in-between Russell Crowe......like when he played Gladiator but also let himself go a little by having a few too many beers and some ribs. He is from Norway and has a pretty good sense of humor.

Yes, we are on 11/19 Adventure. Wife wanted to do a pre-Thanksgiving sailing that week since I have a forced time off at work.

We don't like the MDR, so we buy the UDP, regardless of the ship. We were on Oasis in a suite in December and did a combination of UDP and CK. CK for breakfast a few times, one lunch, and dinner night one. UDP the rest of the time.

We are on the ship. It’s a bit rainy but that will not stop the fun.

We started by going to our muster station and completing the drill. It was difficult because I was hangry and my temper was a little short. My wife wasn’t happy with me, but was not as mad at me as she was during the murder bathroom scenario in June 2022. For someone who loves murder podcasts as much as she she does, I thought she would enjoy the murder bathroom much more than she did, which was almost as she enjoyed the plunger incident of 1991, not at all.

After lunch at the windjammer, we checked out our rooms. My wife, my eldest granddaughter, and I have a balcony room, while my daughter, son in law, our grandson, and the baby are in a connecting room. Our balcony room is in the front of the ship and we can see into the bridge from our balcony.

We were in the room long enough for the grandkids to get into their swimsuits so they could swim in the rain. There was a significant number of kids swimming in the rain.

On the way back to the room, we cut through the solarium. The poor pool lifeguard was as lonely as the Maytag repairman. Apparently adults don’t like swimming in the rain as much as the kids. What happened to us as we grew up?

Since my son in law has never cruised and my daughter hasn’t since she was a teenager, I doled out sage advice like I was the Dalai Lama. My good advice was never flush the toilet while still sitting on it. With the super suction it will suck you in like Augustus Gloop at the chocolate factory, but this will suck you  into the bowels of the ship and that brown stuff is not chocolate.

We brought in two bottles of wine per stateroom and our room steward brought us two wine glasses and a corkscrew. I enjoyed a glass of Merlot while we sailed away. My wife played “Come Sail Away” on her phone, we passed the battleship Iowa, someone from shore blasted the national anthem, officer from the bridge waved at the grandkids, and we saw a couple of sea lions frolicking in the water (probably the only frolicking I’ll see the entire trip.)

At dinner I order like a seasoned cruiser two appetizers, two entrees, and one dessert. The grandkids got a kick out of me eating snails (escargot), but refused to try it. My partner in crime (almost 3) tried the crabby patties (crab cakes), tried my polenta, and ate most of my dessert, which was disappointing because it was the best dessert I’ve ever had on a cruise ship. The baby (9 months old) ate off our plates or more like threw the food on the floor. Our waiter and assistant waiter will be getting a good bonus at the end of our trip.

The red headed wonder kid (7) went to Adventure Ocean after dinner and the wife and I took the littles back to the room to bathe and put to bed.

An exciting first day. Everyone had fun but nobody more than my partner in crime (almost 3,) who is living his best life.

kadmgs got a reaction from dr martini in To UPD or not to UPD, that is the question…
I have had it on 3 cruises and didn't regret it at all. I love the fact that the food is cooked to order. I'm not a fan of the banquet style food in the MDR. Let me preface this with I have been a catering manager and worked in hotels, so know what can sit in a cooler box or heat box and the quality not be impacted. However, I don't want something that been under a cloche for who knows how long. The food is prepared for the masses and as a result I the quality lacking. Not a fan of the windjammer either for similar reasons. My dietary needs require me to eat smaller meals more frequently than what is available in the MDR. I like that we can go to more than one specialty restaurant a day. Some ships have more options that others, but we are usually on a ship with a Johnny Rockets or a Playmakers that gives us an option for a small meal in the afternoon. I will go to the Windjammer for a quick fruit and cheese snack, but that's really it. I prefer the restaurant setting for main meals rather than the dining room as well. I like the more personalized service we usually get in a specialty.

I'm sure you'll find the cruise contract covers them.  I'm not aware that any space on the ship is guaranteed.
Being pissed?  Absolutely.  Compensation?  Good luck with that.
I've seen the SeaPlex closed on a ship.  They were refinishing the floor.  Flowriders get closed when they replace the surface.  Slides are closed while they repair water leaks.
Ship happens.  It's unfortunate but areas are sometimes closed.  Same thing occur at theme parks.  Plan to go on some special ride (to you) and it's closed!  Argh!  That's life.

Hey Tyler! Baytown here, even though my profile says Houston because no one outside of Texas knows where I really am. I went to SFA & have family in your area. Being able to cruise out of Galveston makes it really easy to feed the addiction. Welcome to the boards!

Same. I got the DBP for $69.99 for my November Adventure sailing. I haven't seen it below 70 for this sailing at all prior to this sale. The lowest its been has been $73.99 with the Labor Day sale. It was $88.99 prior to this sale. Between it and the UDP, an excursion that was also on sale, and internet for 2 devices, I saved $215 with the sale. I'll take it.

    Greetings!
The wife and I just took our first cruise in July on Grandeur of the Seas and we are now hooked, and have another planned for Voyager of the Seas out of Galveston in June 2023 (this time with the kiddo, and in a ultimate oceanview panoramic suite!).
My name is Jeremy, and we are from Northeast Texas.  I'm a prior member of the US Coast Guard, and currently work in transportation/logistics management.  I love this blog and message board and have been lurking for about a year, but finally decided to join.
So, hello!  Hoping to make some new friends here!

We have done a cooking class at Playa Mia twice.  After the class, you can enjoy the resort or pick up some vanilla at one of their gift shops. Fair warning, they start the day with drinks… cooking might take a backseat after a few, but we did have a great time!

You can book through the ship, or I saw an option on TripAdvisor

They do offer an onboard discount if your are Diamond Plus (30%) or Pinnacle (40%). However, that is onboard prices, so the pre-cruise price would probably still be better. A discount code to use for pre-cruise purchase... now, we are talking. Highly unlikely, though.
