I think the Solarium is a fine choice for an included dining option. The selections are similar to what you would find in the WJ with a focus on healthy selections. What I like best about it is that it's a quieter, more intimate setting than some of the other options.

1. I was wrong. The junior highschool comment was snarky. Sorry.
2. There is a difference between saying "do nothing" and what you are saying. You are still practicing preventive measures by maintaining distance. Honestly, I don't really like being around too many people anyways. That is still doing "something."
3. Life is always full of risks. In fact, my family all have a really bad case of the flu right now and was hoping it was Covid so that we could get a certificate of recovery instead of having to test. Alas, its not Covid.
Oh...so sorry it's not COVID (hmm, never said that before!).

I must be the one to say, "I'm sorry". I don't do a good job of explaining myself and I have a very dry sense of humor, at times. I look at most everything as a "Information Opportunity" (after a career in the U.S. Army training folks it's a hard habit to brake, not that I really want to because I learn while doing it), even though I quote people, I'm not necessary responding to them personally. I'm responding to the premise contained within the post/quote. I hope that nobody takes my comments in here personally, unless I put your name/login in front of the comment then it is directed directly toward you (EXAMPLE: johnqpublic, I think you are totally wrong). I know I can be very direct but I have nothing but the best of intentions and that's to inform.
I hope we all have great cruises and are safe while we do it.
EDITIED IN FOR GENERAL CONSUMPTION: No, nobody appointed me Informer-In-Chief. It's just what I do, what I like to do. It keeps this 70 year old busy and using my brain. I love to learn and when I see something to research, I dive right in. I learn as much or more every time I post something informative in here. I'm not a know it all, I'm an amateur researcher.
Personally, I appreciate directness.

I am one of those people who, even outside, tries to keep 6 feet apart. I don't wear a mask outside, but on calm days I always leave the path and walk on grass to avoid others. In my case, I am not worried about becoming seriously ill, I am simply trying to do my part to kill the pandemic. I know I can still carry the virus despite being double-boosted. I just think it is a new world now, and we must be very respectful of others when it comes to public health. I don't think poorly of others unless they "hog" the path as though I am the inconsiderate one....
If being double vaccinated and double boosted doesn't "kill the pandemic", I'm not sure walking on the grass around other walkers is going to help...but being a courteous person is always appreciated!

Just a thought - maybe try vestibular rehab exercises if you haven't yet (it helped my aunt). Also, I remember reading that someone with this condition benefitted from getting a rocking chair and gently rocking. It didn't "cure" the condition but did give her some relief.

You mention you are in Mexico and they do not vaccinate children under 12 in your email to RC, does this rule apply in Japan also? As you could look into getting vaccine there when you head home before heading back across to Europe for transatlantic?
It's stated the child is allergic to some of the vaccine ingredients and cannot get the shots.

Honestly anyone I know who goes on cruises is vaccinated. The people I know who are not vaccinated are not people who go on cruises. So is it hurting them? It may not be in the long run. I imagine they have a lot of smart people looking at this to determine if it hurts them or not. If it doesn't, they have no reason to drop it.
Honestly, everyone I have cruised with in the past or were booked to cruise with on future cruises (prior to vaccine mandate) are not vaccinated so I guess there are people "hurt" by it.
Our decision, our choice, just biding our time until we can cruise again. Plenty of other vacation options that are happy to take our money.

We are sailing June 11th on Allure of the Seas. We are not vaccinated and saw the current health protocols have vaccine requirements up to May 31rst. This is cutting it close. Thoughts on if Royal Caribbean will drop the requirement by June 1rst, in time for the summer?
Basically the same situation for us except a June 5th sailing (the last of many booked pre-vaccination mandate). I'm sure I will be cancelling as soon as they release the June protocols but it probably won't be before they get my final payment and then make me wait 30 days or so to get a refund.

And it was never "free", we all paid for this service with our tax dollars.

It was quite the fiasco trying to decide if we’d go ahead and make our final payment for a group family cruise to Alaska in the summer. We ended up canceling, wah wah. But! My husband, little one, and I juuust booked a five day out of Galveston. None of us are vaccinated. We are putting in a special needs request for no vaccine. Hopefully that’ll be approved. You only get one shot and have to have already paid for your cruise. Apparently there are one of two routes you can take with that, religious/conscience exemption OR medical exemption. Does any one have experience with these requests?
Good for you and your family! I am so hoping you get to cruise!

I'll take this soda or pop idea a bit further...when we moved to a very rural county on Maryland's eastern shore 30+ years ago, we learned the older (our age) locals call Coke or Pepsi that comes in a can a "machine soda" which they shorten to 'chine soda. Gotta love local dialect.

I agree with @WAAAYTOOO as this is how I've successfully gotten full refunds on all my cruises cancelled due to COVID protocols in place and being unvaccinated. One more left in June to cancel when the new protocols come out covering that cruise. If I have to make final payment then so be it. But I feel confident I'll be refunded. The only thing I'll add is that all the cruises I had booked were done pre-COVID before protocols if that makes any difference.

These vax cards will be the death of us!! Relying on the people filling them out a year ago under enormous pressure to get shots in arms and with perhaps no real understanding of the importance of their accuracy down the road!
Maybe now your brother will see why you were so insistent that he have all his ducks in a row!

We completed all the pre-boarding paperwork, Royal Caribbean approved it and confirmed we were cleared to board. When we got to the pier and provided the same information for visual checking they said it wasn’t adequate. We are now battling for a refund or cruise credit. However our bag was loaded onto the ship and they couldn’t get it back off in time before the ship left. Now the bag is lost and we can’t get any information. Any suggestions anyone?
What a terrible thing to happen. I am so sorry your vacation was ruined.

Doesn't the testing facility need to be CLIA certified according to RC? Your doctor's office may perform the test but I guess you would need to check if they're certified.

HI! We are sailing on Oasis in June (139 days to go)! My oldest daughter will have just turned 18. Are there any activities for the 18-20 crowd? Thanks in advance!
In 2019, on Anthem, my 18 y.o. granddaughter was with me and they offered a "mix and mingle" for the 18-21 year old age group in the Bionic Bar on the 2nd night of the cruise. That may have been the only night it was held, if I'm remembering correctly. Maybe check out some cruise compasses for past Oasis cruises to see if they also have the same thing.
-
Maybe it's the language of the request...a refund versus a repricing.
-
Was your cruise booked before the protocols were established? If it was, that would make a strong argument for a full cash refund. I've cancelled three so far, all booked prior to protocols, and have received cash refunds.

I just want to make sure everyone is clear that these policies have nothing to do with CDC guidelines or "government bureaucracy."
Nothing is forcing them to do this. No government is mandating these policies. RCI is doing this because their medically trained health experts, who are tasked with evaluating the efficacy of these types of policies, have determined that this policy will help to ensure safe cruising. This is a decision being made by a private business in the best interest of its future and the safety of its customers and employees. No government body is forcing them to do this.
But the original poster to this thread reported this:
"They claim the CDC just made the rule for them and just told them today."

I recall when the advice from some on this site was IF you popped a positive to retest again (obviously hoping for a negative). Also, more recently, suggestions offered on how to help make sure you're negative by using saline or alcohol (?) nasal rinses.
People have alot invested in their vacations. They just want to get on the ship.
