My husband and I also do a couple of things.
    1. We order room service breakfast (free).  It is continental.  We order the night before, get up early hit the gym, or walk the track (taking the stairs).  Stop at WJ, and get an omelet since we know we have continental will show up within minutes upon returning to our cabin.  Take the stairs back down.  This keeps us away from piling on at WJ.
    2.  We eat dinner late.  We go to the WJ when it opens for dinner.  We make 2 plates .  One is our appetizers while we get ready for dinner, shrimp, veggies, etc., anything we can pick at it while we shower and dress, which fills up our stomachs.  The other is our late night snacks (typically a deli/cheese plate that we put in the min-fridge and something sweet)  The thing is by doing so, when I go to dinner, my eyes are not bigger than my stomach.  Again this is pre-planning.
    3. I do specialty restaurants, but from a weight issue,  I like the MDR more.  In the MDR you will have the same server every night.  By day 3 they know your likes and dislikes, iows, your eating habits.  The MDR usually offers the wedge salad, 1x during the cruise.  However, bc I have sailed with RCCL multiple times, and use the MDR often, I ask on night 1 can I have the wedge salad the next night?  I have never been told no, even though it is off the menu.  My husband knowing my eating habits will chime in and say, can you give her that in a child's portion, bc otherwise I am the one left eating it or it is wasted food.
I also order multiple appetizers.  I will order a salad or soup as an appetizer, and ask for the calamari (appetizer) for dinner.
No offense, but point being it really is up to her.  I am in my 50s, keeping weight off is a battle.  Going on a cruise with booze and unlimited food makes it even harder.  Yet, I have never gained a pound.  I attribute this to planning.  I could take the elevator.  I could sleep in.  I could not ask for off the menu meals at the MDR. Notice it is all I could.
Not trying to offend. Just saying she has options to stay on the path.  For me, the splurge night is not lobster, but lamb shanks.

I have to reiterate use the stairs every time.  I will be honest, that is what we do.  It was only on our 4th cruise that I used the elevator.  We were on a family cruise, and I remember remarking OMG they have the day of the week on the floor, how cute.  1 family member said to me we have been on this ship for 5 nights, and now you are just noticing?  My response was, this is the 1st time I have taken the elevator on any cruise.
Don't know which ship you will be on. but you will be amazed how many times a day you climb the stairs.  It will start day 1.  You can wait for an elevator after the Muster Drill or you can walk the stairs and get there quicker
IMPO, drink 2x as much water as you do at home.  Between the sun and alcohol you will dehydrate faster than just hanging at your desk at work.
I have never gained a pound on a cruise.  I am a grazer.  Lots of small meals.  Lots of water during the day. I do the deluxe beverage package, but with every drink I get a bottle of water.  I do not order a new drink until I have guzzled down that bottle of water.

I guess I am wrong and my memory failed me.  Back on topic. Royal does indeed do a Coco Cay and Key West cruise 4 nights out of Florida.  I did it, but ...Enchantment might not be your cup of tea.  I view Enchantment like Lady G. It does not have the bells and whistles.  No water slides, limited specialty restaurants, it is a small ship.
I liked it because it was port intensive, just like Lady G compared to the Anthem or Adventure when it comes to the Caribbean. I liked the Anthem more because there were more passengers and options, such as I Fly and North Star.  Hoping Adventure will be the perfect fit...mini golf, ice skating, flow rider, etc.

We did a 4 night on Enchantment about 2 1/2 yrs ago.  We went to Nassau, Coco Cay and Key West.  I want to say our sea day was between Coco Cay and Key West.  I loved that cruise for 1 reason.  We were able to do all of the excursions we wanted bc they were offered at multiple ports.
I love Key West, such a great walking town, and you have to love the chickens everywhere, acting like as if they owned the town and putting up with us humans invading their space.
We went to the Blue Heaven in Key West.  What a great place to eat. Def. order the Key Lime pie if you go there.  I swear the pie slice has to be at  least 6 inches tall.  All of the food portions were huge.  The ambiance is amazing too.  The bar is an old boat upside down so the bottom of the boat is the bar itself. They also had a psychic off on the side from the bar.  The restaurant/patio area feels like you are at a funky friends home, mismatched chairs, obscure paintings, exotic plants, etc.  Fun, fun, fun.
My husband and I laughed because of course in Key West you have to visit the southern point marker.  We walked down there and see a line of maybe 100 people waiting to get a photo shot at the marker.  We looked at each other and said at the exact same time. OK, saw the marker, been there, done that, let's go to Fat Tuesday for some drinks!
I will say that you can tell Key West is a tourist town when you go shopping.  Very artisanal, but also very expensive for the products offered impo.  I can buy handmade soap on Amazon, same quality, but 50% less in price.
FYI I think we docked at 10 or 11.  I recall that because we went to Blue Heaven for brunch.  We sailed @ 6, bc I remember that our MTD was 6:30 and we were sailing out of port while we were getting ready for dinner.  Plus, I have pics of us on the pool deck overlooking the port and in the background the sun was setting (Nov. cruise)
Honestly my only negative from this cruise is Enchantment was just too small for our tastes.  I would never sail on Enchantment again due to its' size and nightly entertainment options.

    No it was 4 nights.
We left Miami at 4 or so.
Got to Nassau the next a.m.   That would make it day 2, but only 1 night
We than went to Coco Cay. Again we docked early.  Day 3, 2nd night.
Day 4, 3rd night we sailed to Key West.  Sea day.
Day 5 , Key West.   We sailed that 4th night back to Miami and arrived back to the port by 7-8 a.m.
    Hence, it was 4 nights.

    +1... Yuk
    I would rather drink listerine!
I also like Frangelico, hazelnut flavor.  Try a Frangelico Martini or a chocolate cake shot.
Chocolate cake shot is Frangelico, any chocolate liqueur (IE Godiva) and vanilla vodka shaken with a few ice cubes.  I know you love red velvet cake, so you may want to experiment and see if Chambord works better for you than Frangelico.
    @JohnK6404
as you can see,  specialty liquors like Baileys or Amaretto are included, now you may have to pay an upcharge if you go really fancy, but the up charge is only the difference from the DPB coverage and the charge for the drink.
IE you go to Coco Cay and purchase 1 of their drinks in a pineapple.  It costs 13.  DPB is 12.  You will pay 1 dollar plus the 18% grat on that 1 dollar. IOWs, it will cost 1.18 out of pocket.

I know for a fact it does include Amaretto, and Sambuca.  My husband and I like to have cappuccino or espresso after dinner (a sin in Italy) and we order a side shot of either one of those with them.  Never had to pay.   I also have had mudslides,  B52 and a brain, and never been charged, all of them include at least Baileys.
PS.  I don't suggest ordering a brain.  It is a shot, and impo ick!   Basically it is vodka, grenadine and baileys.  When they pour in the baileys into the vodka it coagulates and looks like a brain, than they drizzle grenadine to resemble the blood around the brain.

At some point this was inevitable.  The bridge from the pier side to the beach side has to be physically placed there.  When it is, no more tenders can enter the tender lagoon.  Placing the bridge, securing it, building walkways, safety inspections, etc. all takes time.
During this phase of construction it would be hard to accomodate guests.   Whether it happened in June 2018 or March 2019 it was going to happen at some point.  Guests are rerouted and life goes on.  The fact that it is actually happening now is encouraging and a sign that the pier is very close to finally being here.

Not a stupid question at all.
I have never been charged [extra] for any liquor that I ever asked for in any drink I have ever ordered. I love Amaretto and I use it in a lot of different drinks (try and pina colada and mud slide made with Amaretto !).  Now....Dan drinks single malt scotches (yuk !) and sometimes he will ask for a high end scotch that he will have to pay extra for but sometimes even these are not charged.  So, unless you are drinking something VERY exotic I think you can expect to have it included in the DDP.
The only problem I have ever had is that sometimes the bar that I am at does not have a blender and then cannot make the frozen drinks...but that is a function of mechanical limitations and not a restriction on the liquors or ingredients.
Truly, I don't know why they even bother with listing what is included in the DDP since it is so incomplete and it only serves to confuse people.

I do too.  I am a parent, so please don't flame, but after my 1st cruise with RCCL I never went for soft serve ice cream ever again.  I have stood in line behind 10 yr olds (no parent) that has decided they will make an ice cream cone so high that it collapsed, and re-started it all over again.
I always have a DBP.  I now get a Virgin Pina Colada, Strawberry Daquiri, or a milk shake at JR.  Same results...cold, sweet, etc. and best part is I won't wait in line forever, to only get to the front of the line and find out that the machine is down.

Why use a travel agent?  Here is my newest story.  This cruise we are traveling with my husband's family as a group.  We got an amazing deal, 2400 and change for a spacious balcony for 8 nights for 2, plus 100 OBC and 1 specialty dinner.  My SIL was going to sail with a friend, but they backed out.  She has cruised often, approx. 1x a yr for the last decade, but not loyal to any cruise line, thus she books directly with the cruise line.  So bc of that she called RCCL directly and cancelled her friend, changed it to single, but still the same room.  RCCL cancelled all of her excursions that we were doing as a group. I get a call on a Sunday with here freaking out, and since I am the go to person for the cruise, I contacted our TA that day.  The TA got on the phone with RCCL.  They rebooked everything at the exact same cost (excursions were purchased Black Friday) and on top of that, RCCL threw in a strawberry and champagne welcome gift, plus the bottomless galley brunch too.
We did not pay a dime for the TA.

You could also do what we do.  Go to Windjammers when they open for dinner. We do late seating, so this is our early appetizers.   Grab things, such as carved beef/ham, deli meats, cheeses, veggies, hummus, breads, cookies, slice of cake,  dessert in a cup, etc. and bring it back to your room.  Place it in your mini-fridge aka cooler.  Stop by Sorrentos to grab a few slices of pizza and you have your own late night hot and cold buffet at no cost.  We do balcony and this is one of our favorite things to do.
We also order continental breakfast room service which is free.  We set out the card with the delivery time.  We are early risers, 7 :30 is sleeping in for us. Again, we do balcony.  We go to the gym, or walk the track and then we hit the Windjammer.  We each make a plate to go (omelets bacon, hash browns).  I get an ice coffee too on our way back.  We time it so the continental shows up within 5 mins (see above regarding the card).  So for us we get the best of both worlds, hot and cold, while we spend $0.  Especially if the ship does not have outdoor seating at the WJ the  perk of a balcony is you can have breakfast outside.
We have done outside (no balcony) this way too.  We like doing this bc of one more reason.  We can eat at our leisure while we get ready for the day in our room.  Take a shower, come back for another sip of coffee, or a bite of a muffin in your room while you apply your sunscreen before going to the pool or finishing packing your tote for your excursion that day.

The cabanas are the first to be hogged.  Crew stacks loungers in the cabanas overnight so that any wind doesn't send them flying.  Guest are out early moving the stacks of chairs out of the cabanas so they can claim them long before crew have a chance to put all the deck 12 loungers out for the day.
Morning joggers have a time dodging the guests haphazardly clearing loungers out of the cabanas.

The Maitre'd is going to be like a one-armed paperhanger. This entree is overcooked, I want another one. Sorry, $10. Please get the Maitre'd. This steak is tough, I want another or a different entree. Maitre'd. This zucchini is mushy,. Maitre'd. I don't want rice, I want french fries. Maitre'd. This fish is full of bones, I thought it was boneless. Maitre'd. You call this tiny single lambchop an entree? Maitre'd. Really, one 3 oz lobster tail is an entree. Maitre'd. This food is cold. Maitre'd. I ordered medium rare, this roast beef is medium. Maitre'd.
Once you start charging for entrees, passengers will become sticklers for perfection. I want asparagus with my steak. Maitre'd.
The ill will cost more than the $10. What if you were on an excursion and missed lunch and want a second entree? $10 for the second entree! Bring me 10 shrimp cocktails. The mind reels at the disruption. I spent $5000 each on this cruise each and you're going to charge $10 for a second entree!!
Carnival might have a problem with extra entrees, but Holland America??
You'd think they'd learn after the Carnival room service charge fiasco.
People HATE being nickeled and dimed. I'm a 5 star Mariner and you're going to start charging me $10 for a second entree!!!. They'll have to offer surcharge-free entrees as a Mariner benefit.
With an average passenger age of 80+ they can't afford to turn off their younger cruisers.
People will want to know the portion size. Is the Wienerschnitzel the size of a dinner plate or a thumb drive?
May you live in interesting times!
Really, food waste!!! Get rid of the buffets.

This is what is great about the WJ. Late diners like me go early to WJ since we will not be done or hungry by the time WJ closes.  Early diners can go before they close up for the day.
As I stated I typically do something akin to a meat and cheese plate, however one thing I love is cold left over Chinese food.  (That college kid has never left me).  I am thinking on our cruise in July  I will see how it works using the Mongolian Grill in the WJ.  Eating cold lomein at midnight on the balcony floating on the waves in the Caribbean seems like nirvana to me.
