twangster got a reaction from RestingBird in Questions from first-time cruiser
Rut Roh. I'm starting to resemble that remark... Time for a cruise. That solves all.

Sit up on the top deck and smoke a cigar (no haters please) and watch the stars, not as peaceful as Central park, but relatively quite.
Sit at the Schooner Bar or on the Promenade and people watch.

I think RCI runs these promos when the next payment on the current ship under construction is approaching :)

I did a guarantee cabin on Grandeur in August. Worked out fine. I have 3 active bookings on other ships that are guarantee, but it doesn't matter to me where on the ship my cabin is. You can often save money with guarantee fares and who doesn't like to save money but you could end up with a cabin because no one else wanted it or you could luck out and get a great cabin in a perfect location.
Some people are affected by motion more than others. They prefer low midship cabins. Some people like cabins close to stairs and elevators for convenience. Sometimes people travel in groups and they want their cabins to be close to each other.
Grandeur is nice ship, a good size with great crew and food. It's not the newest ship in the fleet so it doesn't have the latest thing like ice skatings shows, zip lines, bumper cars, etc. but I liked it and would have no issues sailing on her again. I'm keeping an eye on winter sailings on Grandeur myself. In my signature below is a link to some Grandeur photos from a Bermuda & Bahamas cruise.

twangster got a reaction from BrianAlt in Diving in Honduras and Cozumel
Anthony Keys is a fantastic dive facility. Many of the dive sites are just a short boat ride from their resort. Clean restrooms, etc. This resort is targeted at diving and its hard to get reservations when flying in. Highly recommended.

Cozumel is often drift diving. The waters in Cozumel are very clear with awesome visibility. This was my 1st drift dive and 1 of the 2 dives had swift current to deal with. It was a lot of work just keeping the group together with the dive master and there are a lot of boats so you need to stick with him/her or you'll end up on the wrong dive boat. The 2nd dive was not as swift and more enjoyable.
I think most or all Cozumel diving is within the National Park and there is an entrance fee for each diver. This was 2015 and I think we had to pay in cash on the dive boat. Research to see if that is included in the booking when you make it. Our dive operator was near the pier that RCI normally uses, within the port shopping area.
Cozumel isn't as deep as Roatan was. Both enjoyable, no regrets about diving at either.

We had a similar experience but with a Green Moray. Completely wrapped itself around the spear at one point to wrestle the Lion fish off the spear.

Add cell phones on vibrate to the list. With Voom becoming so popular and people being connected I hate it when a phone is ringing or dinging during dinner or at a show. Mine is on vibrate for the whole cruise.

Twangster I took the liberty of annotating your photo.
Since RCCL and celebrity are both owned by RCI, who knows which ship will use which dock.

twangster got a reaction from PRC in What to do in St-Lucia
Be aware there are two cruise piers and terminals in St Lucia. One is on the cargo side of the harbor, the other on the opposite side of the harbor. Depending where the two ships dock you may need to pre-establish a rendezvous point if all parties won't have wifi, text or cell phone service. It's a bit of a walk between terminals.
In this photo I found online you can see one ship at the cargo dock at the bottom of the harbor and other ships at Point Seraphine closer to the airport. I've used both.

This from Millie in June. Compares 'classic' versus 'premium'. A vodka tonic with classic would be Absolute. A vodka tonic with premium could be Chopin or Grey Goose but you have to ask for that if you have the premium package. For example I'd ask for a Grey Goose and Tonic.
If you buy classic they offer an onboard upgrade to premium. It takes 2 premium drinks per day to justify the upgrade if i remember correctly (based on overage charges to pay for premium liquor per drink over classic). For the first couple of days I heard bartenders telling folks that a few times.

twangster reacted to monorailmedic in Beverage Gratuities
For beverage gratuities, I don't believe so - they're automatically applied with each transaction. Part of this is because there are folks who work behind the scenes (bar backs, staff who stock the snacks at bars, people cleaning the area, etc) who are tipped out of that pool. It's just something to keep in mind if you're going to be tipping "manually" Not all of the people with tip-based compensation who are working hard to make your cruise enjoyable are on the front lines.
