  2. Today
  3. get a balcony cabin and make a solar oven using a box and tinfoil. Or just bring that type of set up to the outside top deck! LOL
  4. On older ships your account info does not show on the TV. If you have different charge cards on your app account (do before you sail or go directly to guest services to change yours) then the main person on the reservation cannot see your charges. Problem you may face: 1. She might see the account on the TV if she uses the TV and figures out how. 2. The print out of the account sent to the room (or to the email of the main person on the reservation). I've had issues getting the emails for 2 recent cruises and on the 3rd of those 3 in a row they sent me an email and my husband received nothing. Mine only showed my account charges. If this is for hiding gambling, just bring cash! If it's for other reasons I have no advice.
  5. Day 6: * Sea Day * I woke up early this morning before Christine to take some more pics the ship! The MDR on Deck 5… Now on Deck 6 (AFT) just to the left side of the entrance to Surfside… Some more Royal branded merch… some of these items are nicer than what is sold in the store in the promenade… Once you pass the Park West and Royal merch area, you walk into Playmaker’s. Once again, not a fan of the basement vibe (no windows like Odyssey and not open to Boardwalk like Oasis class)… … you can see the strange entrance to Absolute Zero is on the other side of Playmaker’s… Headed out to explore Surfside… just an FYI, the entrance to Adventure Ocean is to the right of the entrance to Surfside on Deck 6… Decent wake view! Love these safety cones! We need one! Now on to Central Park… Living walls as soon as you enter CP on Deck 8… I love the ocean views from within CP on either side of the Pearl! I’ll be back tomorrow to continue with Day 6… time for bed!
  6. "tropica" "caribbean" being the theme at dinner and around the ship, staff and passengers wear shirts with tropical look on them
  7. When I was on the beach there were waitstaff that came around. I did not hang out in the chairs by the pool (I was in the pool) The bar has a walk up side AND swim up sides. 1 of my 3 days there the DJ did not play due to super rainy weather-we stayed dry in the swim up bar-but it was cold for parts of the body out of the water. Not too many people showed up that day. It was February and winter break, maybe all the parents were stuck with their kids elsewhere on the island or the ship. The 2 times I was there with a DJ he did not seem loud to me but that is really subjective. "Longer walk" for food/drink and bathrooms is subjective. If you divide the hideaway into 3 parts with the Hideaway bar being the center third the food is to the Left third and the right third. One side has the snack shack, the other side has the pizza/empanadas and ice cream. So you'll be walking to get various types of food. Bathrooms, I think there are 3, don't recall. The shuttle to hideaway does not stop elsewhere, which is good when you only want to go to hideaway but if you wanted to go to Chill Grill you would have to shuttle back to the shuttle terminal and catch a different shuttle, then shuttle back to the shuttle terminal to get the hideaway shuttle again. Maybe it's walkable to a Chill Grill when you exit hideaway? I was satisfied with Snack Shack so did not look further into this.
  8. I’m so enjoying this! You have a way of describing that puts pics in my head immediately (and yikes on some of them!). Thanks for all the pics. I hope you get a much-deserved break on week 3! Much as we love our fams….Jane
  9. Day 5: Cozumel, Mexico (CONT.) After Aqua Action, we headed to the Royal Theater to check out “Showband”. This is the Icon of the Seas 16-piece orchestra performing a number of movie and pop/rock songs. The conductor (can’t remember his name, but I’m assuming he’s from the UK) explained that at this time, this 16-piece orchestra is the largest on any cruise ship. He explained in the current climate, many productions on Broadway and the West End are unfortunately downsizing orchestras due to cost, but Royal wanted this orchestra to be a 16-piece vs. the typical 10-piece on Oasis class ships. He thanked the audience for supporting live music. He introduced the members throughout the performance, but made sure to point out that this gentleman (of course forgot his name too! ) is actually the Music Director on Icon. He is responsible for a total of 43 performers onboard… We enjoyed the performance even though neither one of us usually listen to this type of music. I do love all of the John Williams’ movie scores (none included in the performance just in case you wanted to know)! After the show, we headed to Deck 5 of the Royal Promenade to watch the “Ships Ahoy!” Parade. No pics as we had folks in front of us that lined up earlier. Cute parade for the kids… well coordinated and worth seeing. Christine was always partial to the Dreamworks parades (especially her favorite, Puss in Boots!) and was disappointed when they did not renew the contract with those characters. When the parade ended (around 11:00 PM), we called it a night!
  10. Ok…just emailed my request for June 2. When I went into my account for the reservation number, I saw that my room had changed. I’ve had my first ever royal-up bid accepted! We are now in a spacious ocean view with a much larger window right across from the elevators (which I like). We are under the pool deck now, but since noise doesn’t usually bother us, I think we will be ok! And we now will have a “cooler” in the room for what it’s worth and a full size couch to throw our towels on! So let’s cross our fingers our luck keeps going and here’s hoping for a 2-top near a window! I think I put all the necessary info in, and since we are doing the key, we will check the location at lunch and make a request if we need to switch. Jane
  11. The second to last photo is where our room was located on deck 2 across from the loyalty ambassador. You see how small the corridor is.
  12. The people on this cruise continue to dress to depress . The wardrobe malfunctions are getting more and more ridiculous. I saw a man pull his underwear up and then his shorts in the MTD room while we waited to be sat. Everyone was mad the casino opened late, they wanted to drink/ gamble hard before dinner. Those vintage Italian ladies continue to do the most. I figured they were from the east coast, Jersey to be exact, based off of their accents. Our favorite bartenders, Michael and Eddie, didn't like them. They said they have a rude, entitlement that works their nerves. But these ladies, the husband's are really nice, wear light up jewelry and flounce their hands a lot. They are also really loud. They stayed until they lost their $100 for the day. I played up my freeplay and walked put with another $39, making it $83.30 won. I will use that next cruise to earn my certificate. I will say I saw very few people actually on the machines this cruise, a lot more at table games. Mostly people in the casino smoking to be smoking. The dancing drums were almost always empty. I managed to snag a seeded roll before my mother pounced. We had the same waiters each night and sat at the same table twice, tonight we were one table away. We tipped each night. Which meant our server was always doing extra things. I only wanted coconut shrimp and rice tonight. He brought me 2 for my app and one with the grilled shrimp entree for dinner. I had the Royal chocolate cake and he brought me ice cream. He knew to bring double bread and lemon for my mother's water. We were done in 45min. We went to "if you know it dance it" and laughed off our food. I was shocked because so many young people didn't know the songs. I kept forgetting TikTok has changed people's music taste. Every night we go to cafe promenade to get our remaining vouchers. The guy knows us and laughs.....plus my brother always gets some tuna sammies. Tonight he had our order ready. Then we went back to the room to pack up for last leg. My mother has a late flight and is checked in. She will head out about 9am and catch one of the airport shuttles. The steward didn't give her a tag. She wants to be difficult and will self-assist, instead of going to guest services and getting a tag. I want to say the steward on this floor makes the most adorable little towel animals. I had an octopus yesterday and a tiny elephant today I am hoping the B2B lunch has better options tomorrow. I also can't wait to be rid of my mother
  13. Based on the thread about Icon pool being frequently closed, you missed a real opportunity here. Should have asked "anyone got the poop?"
  14. bless. there is nothing sadder than a lukewarm shower with weak pressure. especially when you’re REALLY looking forward to a shower. like. just let us live. let the shenans begin!!!!
  15. Highly recommend an airbnb. We stayed at Giulia & Federica's place just steps from the Vatican and much cheaper than a hotel. The apartment was beautiful and they were awesome hosts.
  16. We enjoyed Hideaway Beach. I believe there’s bathrooms on each end and one in the middle, so very accessible. The heated pool is massive. I don’t think pictures represent how large it is until you see it in person. I was able to swim, get drinks, play with the beach ball that was getting hit around in the pool. Hideaway gets busy but the far end away from the DJ has open chairs on the beach. No roving wait staff the day I was there. The music quickly dies out and you can barely hear it on the end of the beach by the hammocks. The food was okay but we prefer the buffet on Coco Cay. The pizza was Sorrento’s with different toppings, sandwiches, various appetizers. We’re vegetarian so take that opinion with a grain of salt. I didn’t try everything they had to offer at Hideaway.
  17. Yesterday
  18. I think it'd be great if RC told everyone that asked for compensation "no"...but then offered everyone who didn't ask like $25..lol. I know that would never happen, but sure would be funny.
  19. Right next to mine. I am in 2567 and they are in 2569. My brother and I will share a room the next leg on deck 9.
  20. Please forgive me for not keeping up....but where is your mom and brother's room this time ?
  21. They have not…if true, this will be the first time.
  22. Well, 7 night cruise, 24 hours in a day. 168 hours. So if you paid, say, $2000 per person for the cruise, that's about $12 per hour. The outage lasted like 30 minutes. So I'd refund people $6.
  23. I saw a post saying the line at guest services is long with people asking for compensation...
  24. Has Royal ever reused a name? Because there already was a Legend
  25. Just did a TA on Odyssey. Crew said the time changes (losing an hour every night for 4-5 nights in a row) is brutal.
  26. I will have a cheese roll in solidarity for @asquared17. I took a nap and missed any lunch. I wasn't too hungry anyway and I'm tired of the free options. Next leg we got Giovanni's and Izumi hibachi. Plus room service and Playmakers. I got my prime discounts in internet and paid $21 total for this cruise. I watch a bit of anchors away parade and it was a mess. Well the parade was great but the people were a mess. People were trying to get from under the clothesline they had sectioning off for the parade route. Adults pushing children away......these shorties. My cooler gets really cold and I have enjoyed hot water and good pressure in the cabin. However the room smells nowhere as good as my previous room. The chemical smell is especially bad in the bathroom. We are moving to the 9th deck for the last leg. We got a very late start away from Nassau, apparently a lot of pier runners. All aboard was suppose to be 4:30 but it was 5 when the last person got on. Rumor was a late excursion. But who knows. As a result the casino didn't open at 5:45 but will at 6:30. On previous cruises I would forget to use my earned points, but now I know. I will use the points and then people watch until dinner.
