We finally booked our next cruise to Bermuda next May/June!! We are so excited as this is a port we have never been too! My brother-in-law and sister-in-law will be joining us too (and we will be kid free!!!)! It's nice too because we live in NY and we are hoping to drive (5.5 hrs) or fly (about 1 hr 15 min) the day of!

With all this being said, spam me with activities/excursions to do and places to try food and drink! We will be on Independence which we have been on before!

Also, for those that have gone out of NY/NJ, what is the weather like until you get farther out to sea?

Thanks everyone 💜

I LOVE cruising to Bermuda. I think the pink sand there is some of the softest and most lovely in the world.  There are also many historic places to visit, such as mighty forts. Bermuda is also famous for its golf courses.   I have been there a few times--pay attention to the weather forecast, as the island is not quite as warm as the deep Caribbean. However, May/June should be good as it is warm and Spring-like, similar to all of us.

I have sailed there with two different SIL's, and even my MIL, so it will be enjoyable for you to be with family, as it is a pretty relaxing cruise.

The last time I was there I did a snorkeling trip in the Bermuda Triangle and I saw two shipwrecks down below, because the water is so clear.

You can take a ferry over to the city of Hamilton from King's Wharf port, which has a lot of shopping and places to see, as well as very good restaurants.  There are several quaint British-style pubs also.

I also really like St. George's--the small historic town has an artsy vibe.

We have also taken the local bus and gone to a nice resort hotel for the day to enjoy the pool, restaurants, and beaches. My brother even took a cave tour once.

Finally, I live in Philly, so driving to NY/NJ is always an easy commute, and with shorter cruises the parking is affordable.

Have fun planning, and have a great time!

Parking is currently $30 day.
There is are shuttles just off the pier you can take to Horseshoe bay at $7 per person cash each way. At horseshoe bay you can opt to rent chairs and/me umbrella.  I believe last year I paid $30 each piece on one trip and my next trip was $25 each piece. (It’s a free beach you don’t have to rent anything.  There are bathrooms and changing stations and food/drink but I’ve never ordered-it’s expensive.

I’ve done the rum tasting sunset sailing at night-one time a gorgeous Sunset and another time the sun failed us.

Traveling this cruise again in a few weeks out of NJ  if you have additional questions please ask

My best excursion was going to the Crystal Caves and then spending time on a small beach near a Park Reserve.  There was a tiny bar/grill on the beach and we sat around drinking delicious Rum Swizzles…so delicious!  The driver of the shuttle was a young man who had grown up there.  He gave us so much local Bermudian information.
Also really liked heading out to Horseshoe Bay Beach.
I think your dates of travel will be very nice weather wise.

We did a day on our own and LOVED it... walk to the ferry stop at the port, get a day pass for the ferries\busses.  Take ferry to Hamilton, walk around a little then find the bus depot and take the bus toward St George, you can get off near the Swizzle INN and check that out, and the ice cream place across the street... then we walked about 1/4 mile up the road to  Tom Moores jungle, if you have phone service, use google maps to get you to the Blue hole. You'll walk through some beautiful pathways, with beaches below, if you climb down to the beach or look to your right in a few areas, you'll see some really cool caves you can walk around and check out.  But the blue hole is amazing... take a dip or a dive and cool off!  All for the price of the ferry and bus pass.  Look  up some pictures from Tom Moores jungle and the Blue hole.    There was a gas station right across from the pathway that leads you into the area you want to be in.

Have an amazing time! We loved Bermuda! Although we have not sailed out of Bayonne that time of year, late May/early June should be nice... likely high 70's to mid 80's on land (we live just over an hour east of Bayonne on Long Island). Of course, a little cooler on the water. Bermuda will likely be in the same temp range 70's-80's as well.

Thank you for this info! With my BIL and SIL traveling with us, I think we can split the cost of parking! I'm more curious to know what the weather will be like leaving NJ until you get farther out to sea.

I live in Brooklyn and the weather at the end of May is usually highs in the upper 70s/lower80s, in the 60s at night - great temps!  Are we even on the internet if one of us doesn't warn you not to fly down the day of?  Honestly, I'd recommend driving down the day before and staying close to the port that night.  Stress-free!  Imagine getting stuck in traffic and cutting it close, maybe almost missing the final call to board.  A few weeks ago we drove to the western part of Jersey for a wedding, which should have taken us about two hours.  It ended up being almost three because of a sink hole.  A stinking sink hole during rush hour!  Sheesh.  I'm not sure if any hotels near the port have a cruise package, but I know of ones in Florida that let you stay parked at the hotel for the duration of your cruise at a reduced rate. In the morning they shuttle you over to the ship.  We cruised out of Port Liberty once on the Anthem.  It was fun passing under the Verrazzano bridge, the clearance is crazy tight!  Make sure you're on the upper decks checking that out.  Sometimes I drag my husband out to the waters edge to watch the big boats pass underneath.  I love a cruise!

Trust me, I'm a little nervous about this! We typically cruise out of FL and we always fly down the day before. All aboard seems to be 2:30 and my plan (hubby doesn't know yet), is to be on the road between 6-7 to give us enough time (hopefully). We wants to drop our daughter off to my in-laws that morning but I'd rather have them pick her up from daycare on Friday and spend the night so we don't have to rush around the morning of. We are also leaving on Saturday so I'm hoping traffic isn't too bad

I'm very excited to go under bridge (geeky, I know). We are on Indy which I know is a somewhat smaller class ship.

I'm with you!  Tell him about the sinkhole.  Right now there's a raging wildfire in NJ near my friend's house and some of the roads are closed.  I mean, it's nowhere near the port, but the point is that it's good to pad your time.  People plan, NJ laughs.

We’re cruising out of Bayonne for the fourth time in mid-June, our first time to Bermuda. We always drive down ( roughly 4 hours) from Massachusetts the day before, just to make the whole experience more relaxed and less stressful. We tend to stay more inland (it’s a lot nicer 30-40 minutes northwest of the port) and find a nice place to go to dinner the night before, and a big breakfast on embarkation morning.

Thanks to this who posted about Bermuda! It’s really helpful info! Just hoping the water (onboard and in Bermuda) is warm enough to enjoy.

Well I am sailing out of Bayonne in 13 days…not to Bermuda but heading south to Nassau and CocoCay.  I can report back to you on the weather nearish the port heading out and heading back.  I know it’s not an exact comparison but something to start with anyway!

AND…I’m doing it again next year in May too!  It’ll be fun to compare
