B2B Different Ports - A mistake?

Recommended Posts

In my excitement to jump on a Casino Royale offer for Utopia, I booked a 3-night cruise on the back of a 4-night cruise on Allure before realizing that Utopia is in Port Canaveral and I’m getting off of Allure in Miami.

Has anyone attempted this before? I realize how risky it is, especially given all of the moving parts it would take just to get to Orlando before the hour ride from Orlando to the port. But is it possible?

Obviously, the first obstacle is getting off the ship first thing in the morning. Previous research has lead me to believe it’s possible to be off and clear of customs by 7:30 if there are no delays.

Current flight options from MIA to MCO leave at 9:05 am (land at 10:25), 9:28 am (land at 10:39), but then not again until 12:03 pm (land at 1:16). FLL has a 9:30 flight. In my favor, I will have TSA and will be Team Carry-on.

Other options are the Brightline: leaving 8:50, arriving 12:15 or leaving 9:45, arriving 1:15.

A third option would just be a car service. Uber/Lyft seems like something that would easily be cancelled by a driver last minute.

In conclusion, this seems insane, but part of me wants to attempt it. What seems like to most logical way to go? I’m open to any and all suggestions.

I have done Miami to Port Canaveral with no issue. I used a one-way car rental and drove myself.  I wouldn't consider flying and the Brightline is too out of the way and could be subject to delays.

Thank you for the suggestion!  Renting a car hadn't even crossed my mind.  This seems like it could be the least stressful option.

Avis/Budget is who I use. They have a location that's about 2 miles from the Miami port (SE 1st Avenue) There's a free shuttle but I always just take a Lyft because I'm impatient 😅 Then the drop-off is in Cape Canaveral (2.5 miles from Port Canaveral) and there's a shuttle available there as well.

Awesome info.  Thanks again!

Enterprise is also right there.

I did this two weeks ago with no issue in a rental car.  I rented a car at MCO and drove to PC for a cruise on DCL ( I did a red eye to MCO).  The rental was not much for a week ( less than $300).  I parked at PC.  When I got off the ship, we drove to Miami and arrived by about 1:00 pm with a couple of stops along the way (we had two tots).  Later in the day, Miami port is easy with little traffic.  Given the morning traffic insanity, I prefer arriving later anyway.  I kept the car and drove back to MCO for the flight home, but primarily because there are no direct flights from FLL or MIA and the direct flight home from MCO was only about $150.

Thanks everyone! I booked a rental through Enterprise and through Avis while I try to figure out what locations I want to deal with. I haven’t booked a rental car in a while, so it’s interesting to see how much the price varies depending on the pickup and drop off locations.

I appreciate everyone’s input. Thanks again.
