DoomSlayer Posted January 17 Report Share Posted January 17 My next upcoming cruise is from a casino comp. The comp was for a Balcony on Symphony. I was given an option to either choose my room, or go with a GTY Oceanview Balcony and receive casino credit. I chose the GTY Oceanview Balcony option because it gave me a good sized casino credit. Everything is correct in my reservation and looks right. Fast forward to today when I received my RoyalUp email inviting me to bid on an "upgrade". Thinking I was going to get a shot at lowballing a Jr. Suite or something, I eagerly looked to see what the offers were. To my surprise, everything was a downgrade or the same as my current booking. Interesting thing was the "Your Current Stateroom" was listed as an Interior Guarantee as opposed to the Balcony Guarantee listed on my reservation. Obviously, I will not be bidding money on the RoyalDown program this time around, but just wanted to share to remind people to be careful with RoyalUp offers and make sure you understand what you are bidding on before bidding. There have been some stories of RoyalUp being a RoyalDown, and this is my first time seeing it in person. Not too worried about it personally. RoyalUp is run by a different company all together and they may not be able to know how to handle the difference between a standard GTY, balcony GTY, or a suite GTY. Hoppy2BHere Posted January 17 Report Share Posted January 17 (edited) Edited for clarification…. This happened for our comp on Jan 19 Allure. GTY Balcony… We still had no number showing with “trick”. We put one in for a spacious ocean view (balcony) as that was the best available. A few weeks later when we were pseudo assigned a room they cancelled that and the offer was now for a few better up to a JS.. We did a few of those.. Then..A week or 2 later we were fully assigned our room # and they cancelled those… We now have up to an owner suite on the list. We have resubmitted several more and now we wait. Sounds like other people have had similar experiences with GTY rooms until rooms are assigned. I'll follow up after I get a cabin assignment to see if RoyalUp changes it's offers. Same thing happened to us where we booked a jr suite GTY on a casino comp and when the Royal Up offer came in it was for cabins in lower categories than what we booked for. We called and it was a good thing we did. Somehow the reservation in their system was messed up but when we called everything got straightened out. A bit of an upgrade I guess from far back of the boat and smaller balcony. We spend a lot of time outside in the morning drinking our Crown Lounge coffees. Simple things in life, I guess...First we’ve won since right after the pandemic.
