gi333 Posted July 27, 2023 Report Posted July 27, 2023 Hi For seasick what do you guys suggest. Gravol Ginger or wristband. I don't want those patches. Thanks Quote
SpeedNoodles Posted July 27, 2023 Report Posted July 27, 2023 My husband uses an EmeTerm band and it works very well. Quote
TimeRacer Posted July 27, 2023 Report Posted July 27, 2023 Bonine worked best for me and my daughter. The bracelets did nothing for us. I had ginger chews on standby, but didn't need them. Quote
rjac Posted July 27, 2023 Report Posted July 27, 2023 I agree with TimeRacer. Bonine is our go to and it does not make us sleepy nor drowsy like some of the other OTC anti sea sick meds. Quote
melmar02 Posted July 27, 2023 Report Posted July 27, 2023 I can't sit in the backseat of a car without getting sick. I take 1/2 of a non-drowsy Dramamine every morning of the cruise, and for a couple days after too, and I don't have any issues. WAAAYTOOO and Pattycruise 2 Quote

NC Grateful Dead Dad Posted July 27, 2023 Report Posted July 27, 2023 I would be interested in knowing what people would recommend for those of us who like a few adult beverages. I would hate to spend the money on the drink package only to have the sea-sick prevention put me to bed after just 2 drinks. Quote
Geezer Of The Seas Posted July 28, 2023 Report Posted July 28, 2023 Absolutely NOT Scopolamine patches which are only available by prescription. Scopolamine interacts (and not favorably) with alcohol and some prescription drugs, particularly hypnotics (sleep inducing medications). Learned the hard way on my second cruise. Discovered the suggestion of looking at the distant horizon works fine for me if I'm feeling a bit queasy. Strangely, inside the ship or the cabin hasn't been a problem for me. Quote

That makes sense, as non-drowsy Dramamine is just ginger. "Less-drowsy" has Meclizine, but the non-drowsy version doesn't actually have any drug in it at all. Quote
Lovetocruise2002 Posted July 31, 2023 Report Posted July 31, 2023 I am a huge fan of ginger Gravol. I pack both. If it’s night, I take the regular Gravol. If it’s daytime, I take the ginger one. I take it when I get on a plane too. As someone who is prone to motion sickness, regardless of the mode of transportation, I always have the ginger one on hand. And I take the capsules. There’s no taste. USCG Teacher 1 Quote

I use this one which contains meclizine hydrochloride. USCG Teacher 1 Quote
