simplynewt
New to RC and cant seem to find where to prepay the gratuities. On Sym. Of the Seas and wondering how important it is to do this. Who does and who doesn't prepay them?

If you don't prepay, you'll just get the gratuities automatically charged every day. I prefer to prepay so it can split up total cost of the cruise. wordell1
Work through your travel agent to prepay gratuities. If you booked direct through RC then you can just call them.
stevendom57
I prepay because it locks in the daily rate. If RC raises the rates, and that has happened in the last few years, you pay the old, lower rate.
simplynewt
Reason asked is because I prepaid on CCL and still got hit with gratuities on every drink - dinner - spa - and room service. Wanted to get an idea on how RCL is.

Wanted to get an idea on how RCL is. The prepaid gratuities on Royal are for the main dining room service (waiter & assistant) and housekeeping (cabin attendant) plus other related services. It does not include gratuities for drinks, specialty dining, spa, and room service. So, just like on CCL, you will be hit with gratuities for those services as well. One nuance not mentioned is that when you have travel insurance, the prepaid gratuities can increase the total amount covered to the point that your premium increases. So you may want to discuss with your TA the method or timing of prepaying the gratuities. simplynewt and KristiZ
