I've seen peoples doors decorated.  And they will do some decorating but it cost you.  Not sure of restrictions, guess only tape and magnets.   Of course you could attempt to bring a nail gun.. Would make for interesting conversation at the security line...

I have seen a few security agent on my last cruise, no guns visible, and they were all very discreet.
The passengers were very well behaved, polite, civilized and respectful to each other.

The cruise ship became, for a week, a small community of understanding, carring and friendship. No matter if your black, white, yellow or miscellaneous.
But, some might always try to take advantage if the opportunities shows up.

In general, I could say that, people on a cruise ship would tend to be "more civilized"  compare to your normal neighborhood.

    1.  Leaving personal items on loungers.  I have never heard of anyone's personal belongings going missing except in situations where people leave their items unattended and leave the area entirely.  This can happen by accident (someone leaving something by mistake) or when someone will try and "save" a lounger for later use by leaving personal items on the lounger - in which case an employee may remove items so that the lounger can be used by someone who needs it (this is a fairly rare occurrence, unfortunately)  If you are just stepping away to swim, get a drink or some other short-term reason, I'm sure you would be fine...however, I would recommend that you put your more valuable items (cell phone, etc.) under your towel or in a tote or something similar.  You will not have any problems with that.

    2.  Security/weapons on board.  Absolutely not...or, if there are (and I don't believe there are) passengers NEVER see such things.  There is security at the ports but nothing that you don't see at an airport.

    3.  Misbehavior.  Yes, there are brigs on ships and I suppose that from time-to-time they are utilized but I suspect that this would be a consequence of last resort as the cruise lines do not benefit from locking up their passengers.  Will there be passenger disagreements ?  Occasionally, but it is truly rare to see physical confrontations.  The ships' staff are very adept at de-escalating potential physical altercations.

You will find everything to be friendly, calm and welcoming.  Anything other than that, the cruise line loses.  Passengers will not pay top $$ to be placed into an environment that is dangerous or threatening.  Most will follow the golden rule and treat others the way that they expect to be treated.

During my last cruise, I didn't buy any souvenirs, so I declared $0.00 on my customs form. The agent seemed to doubt of my honesty and questioned me a bit, but when I said "I chose to drink my expenses onboard instead of buying souvenirs," he seemed satisfied enough to let me go.

I seem to recall that on a previous cruise, the CBP agent noticed my Citizen watch and asked whether I had purchased it onboard. I explained that I had purchased it during a prior cruise the year before. That satisfied him.

We've stayed at the Radisson at the Port for both of our cruises.

It's a really nice hotel with a great pool!  It's huge, though!
You can also park your vehicle there in a designated lot while you're gone.
Within a mile of the terminal, with a great shuttle service!

    I highly recommend.

We stay at the Residence Inn Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach (8959 Astronaut Blvd, CC  321-323-1100) which is very nice BUT the reason that we stay there is b/c it is DIRECTLY next door to the Hertz car rental place.  We can rent a car at the Orlando airport and drop it off any time (usually after business hours) and then just walk over to the Residence Inn, spend the night and get the shuttle to the port the next morning.

Unless you stay well away from both Orlando and Port Canaveral, you are going to pay DEARLY for a 1 night hotel stay prior to a cruise.  They KNOW why you are there and they really gouge you on the price.

Perhaps I'm cheap, but if I have to take my luggage to them or the luggage bin, I think a $1 per bag is more than sufficient especially if I have to wait.  If they come to me and collect my bags, then that's another story.

LOL Jeff.  We are sailing Freedom, my wife and I are both buying the premium package.  I will get my money out of it, I doubt my wife will.  Our 9 and 7 year old's will be using our souvenir cups for soda, we are not buying additional packages for them.  The cost of that fountain soda per glass is pennies, and we limit our kids intake of soda anyways, so it's not like they will be running to the machine all day.  You should do the same, and not feel the least bit guilty about it.

The last time I saw a promotion intended to Canadians only, it was no big deal because they raise the cruise fare "before" the promotion.
And, has Matt said, most of the time, both Canadian and US residents get the exact same promo.

Shameless plug: You can track the price of any Royal Caribbean cruise with the Royal Caribbean Blog Price Tracker.

Right now it is only available to Royal Caribbean Blog Insiders, but we take a daily look at prices for every cruise across 4 stateroom categories and you can easily see historical data.

I've been "lurking" around being jealous of people and their cruises. I have been actively watching the live periscopes though. But now that I'm preparing my life to plan a few cruises coming up (all of which will have their own vlog series!!) and with one being 45+ family member cruise in 2017, I figured now is a good time to resurface lol.

This is exactly my thinking. To simply report that a man "fell overboard" makes people think that it's possible to slip and fall (as demonstrated in the Youtube video) and end up in the water, left behind as the cruise ship continues to sail on without you.
    To quote a commercial:

Michel reacted to DocLC in Wash your hands.....
On a cruise a couple of years ago, I saw someone using food handler gloves at the buffet and I just recently started doing the same. While I always wash my hands before entering the buffet, I would always go and wash my hands again after serving myself because of possible cross contamination from the serving utensils as a result of those not practicing proper hygiene. I know this is extreme and likely unnecessary, but better safe than sorry.

Here's how I'd do Falmouth on the cheap (and within the compound):

1st stop is Diamonds International. On the second floor is a open bar with free WiFi. Just march in and head up the escalator like you know what you are doing and that will likely head-off being badgered by a salesperson on the main floor. Tipping the bartender a $10 bill will insure you are a welcome guest for quite a while in their unique little lounge.

Then enjoy some ethnic dancing with whatever band is busking in the square that day.

Next stop is the pool inside Margaritaville. Admission is free, the pool attractive, and watching the patrons at the swim up bar wasting away is a lot of fun. You'll probably buy a drink or two, perhaps a bite to eat. But still a minor hit on the budget--and walking distance from the ship.

Note: wear your bathing suit with a cover up, flip flops, a towel from the ship, and most importantly; sun screen. I guess your sea pass might be considered important. But being a homeless person living on a lounge chair at the Margaritaville pool wouldn't be the worst retirement plan.

Well in Labadee with the drink package, plus all the free things to do and see there you wont have a problem filling that day on the island. Different beaches to visit, walking trails...lots to explore on the island compared to Cococay for example.

As for Falmouth, there isn't much to do right at the port really. I mean there are LOTS of shops and some restaurants you can look around, but outside of the port area not much to do unless an excursion booked.

I was just there and spent an hour or two wandering around the port and had a cpl drinks at Marguaratville but was back on the boat to enjoy it being half empty.

Honestly, Independence is such a big boat with so much to see and do you could stay on all day and not be bored.

Was one of my fav ships and cruises that I did.
