The way I see it (so this is my opinion), you got a free casino comp room. I don't expect any FCC, just refund of any port fees or taxes you paid.

If you paid extra to upgrade your room, or whatever, maybe then you'd get that value.

But since you got a free room that was a perk, this isn't the same situation as someone who paid for their room.

If it makes you feel any better, I suspect there will be A LOT of free casino comps coming down the road when this blows over because there's going to be hesitation to cruise for years due all of this.

I agree newbies to cruising might be afraid or the average cruiser but I am curious about your opinion on this.. What about us die hard fans? Do you think they will also be afraid.. I personally cant wait to get on a cruise. I was so sad my cruise was canceled and honestly after watching all the cleaning and sanitizing they were doing I feel like its one of the safest places to be as long as someone didn't get on the ship with the sickness already.

No, this was just a offer from a casino, not from royal Caribbean.

Sorry then since its not your Prime cruise they will not be giving it back. I totally get how you feel and honestly only people who gamble should comment because the rooms we get are not really free. Sometimes I spend $6,000 in 3 days to get a "free" room. I know then people say oh well you had the benefit of entertainment and that is true but without our generous contribution I am pretty sure cruise prices would be higher for everyone. Look at Disney.. No Casino on their ships and therefore prices are ridiculous. Just my opinion of course but I really feel people who don't gamble big don't understand.

I had a comped balcony cabin on harmony March 29th, they canceled of course.

I called in to see what can be done, waited 1 hour to get a rep at the casino department to answer, another hour for her to come back and say I will get ur taxes and fees refunded to the card in 30 days. I told her how about my room, can I rebook for a April sailing? She says my offer expired and I don’t have any more offers, I told her thats not my issue. She wasn’t willing to help, pretty much I lost my cruise and they didn’t do anything but give me my port fees that I paid, no way of getting the cruise back.

They are only giving people back their annual Prime cruise.. Was this your annual Prime cruise?

Great news, Steph !!!  I was wondering if they would do this. We have both used ours for this casino year so we are good....but so glad to hear that they are letting those of you who had their annual comp cancelled, use it next year.

Yes me2. I thought it was very generous of them. I mean they didn't have to but I am happy they are putting good customer service first and giving it back to us.

Well, lying about having a chronic disease only affects the person with the chronic disease.  But with Canada closing ports to all ships over 500 people through July 1,  other cruise lines shutting down, and ports closing other places, I don't see how much longer Royal can hold out.

They could hold out until About April when boats move to Alaska then I only see them being able to do Caribbean and Bermuda cruises..

Just announced.....any ships with over 500 people on board will be banned from docking anywhere in Canada till July.

Not sure how many Royal cruises will be affected.

Just business as normal...nothing to worry about , complain or think there is anything going that will affect the cruise industry with  COVID-10 eh?!:34_rolling_eyes:

Yeah does that include Vancouver because I tried googling it and it said they were still open but Halifax was closed so I was very confused

We just received our call, all Hillsborough & Pasco County Florida students, if leaving the Country or going on a cruise for Spring Break (next week) they will be not allowed to return to school. Must have completed the 14 day self quarantine plus a Doctor note with a clean bill of health before return. At least here in Pasco County Florida they have just affirmed they are on board (sad tears insert here due to pun) to institute distance learning via the schools portal and platforms to alleviate the pain of the 14 day absence. For whatever reason this year the sailing I wanted was sold out during spring break so we opted for something else, little miracles. I stand here and pray for this thing to just go away, and count my blessings....especially when washing my hands.  Sure enough, there is no TP anywhere, and little water ..... empty shelves in Publix and Wal Mart.  We are used to hurricanes so we are always well prepared but this just needs to END! Be safe & stay healthy everyone!

I also live in Florida.. I just don't understand why people are hoarding water.. For instance my refrigerator makes water and I drink that daily.. If I had to be quarentined its not like my fridge would stop making water like as if it were a hurricane and we lost power.. Just makes no sense to me.

I have some “insider” info from a former high up officer with RCCL. I asked if he thought Royal would follow Princess:

I dont think Royal will at this point but you never know.  They laid off some contractors today but other projects like dry dock for Allure still happening.  Things will get dicey at the end of the month when ships are due to reposition to Med and Alaska.  I think Princess had to as they have had 5 ships impacted and did not stop crew from moving amongst fleet.  If I hear anything I will let you know.

That was my thought too.. They have no reason to stop Caribbean sailings and they might as well make a decision in April when ships get moved around.. There really is no reason for them to stop now.. Like your insider said Princess had a PR nightmare and had no choice.. Royal has not had that problem thank god.

Supposed to sail Apr. 04. We have adopted the wait and see philosophy.  Too many unknowns. My wife is a nurse and faces potential self-quarantine upon return, which would force our hand. With the way things are developing with reaction, its looking like EVERYTHING is being canceled.  Princess and Viking have suspended operations.....sneaking suspicion is others will follow suit.

See I think only those will close down.. Princess has a PR nightmare and their guests are mostly elderly.. Viking sails mostly in Europe so that makes sense..

Thanks, Ashley.  I feel bad for them. They really caught it between the eyes on this thing.  I guess this plains why yesterday's cruises out of FLL didn’t go.

I also think it makes sense for them. They have had such problems with all their ships. Plus and I don't mean this in a rude way but I think their clientele is that of an older crowd so maybe they feel like they need to for that reason too..

It's my understanding that the three port workers that tested positive were all contracted with the same company.  That company was the one that serviced the portside services for Princess.  I'm assuming a lot of other workers there are quarantining because of potential exposure from those coworkers so they are right to expect a labor shortage.

That makes sense.. Princess really has bad luck.

    Wow...very hard to believe.

I did read where 3 "greeters" in Port Everglades tested positive for NCV19.  Maybe this is causing some ripples

Caribbean Princess crew were tested for Corona Virus and they came back Negative which is good.. But yes 3 greeters at Ft. Lauderdale did get the virus.. I had friends get off a Holland America cruise today in Port Everglades and said they had no problems and they were off the ship quickly... So who knows why they canceled the princess sailing lol All I know is princess is having very bad luck.. I am kind of Glad I am going on Symphony which leaves out of Miami.. Even though I live closer to Port Everglades that port has always been super annoying.
