  1. Yep and RCI has other special cruises besides Music with groups. I went on the Hogs on the High Seas cruise by 'accident' one year and had a blast - 2000 Harley enthusiasts sail together and do a fund raiser while sailing we also were allowed to participate in the T-Shirt swap on Labadee, it was a blast.
  2. And if you have kids, bring glow sticks and crack them on as they are going to bed makes an instant night light for them to have in their bed to make them more comfortable - I have clients give the kids the glow sticks a few days before the cruise at home etc so they were used to it
  3. Hi - and welcome - Great itinerary - and even though I have not sailed the Rhapsody I think you will like it Rome - keep in mind the port is one hour from the city so getting a tour or private guide for the day may be the way to go - Dubrovnik you will love - beautiful coastal city - as are many of the others I often look at www.shoretrips.com for tours instead of the cruise lines - smaller group sizes and my new favorite for clients is www.toursbylocals.com - these are guides that live in the cities all around the world you visit -you can pick out a pre-arranged itinerary or make up your own with the guide directly -have used them a lot and highly recommend for city and day touring
  4. Welcome to the boards - and agree with everyone - no cruise line really has had luck with doing Mexican Riviera or short cruises out of LA, or San Diego - the CA market just does not really support it like the FL market does - but they may do more Pacific Coastal cruises and things like that in the future -
  5. Woo Hoo! well first and foremost, clients like you are great and I appreciate the public vote of confidence - as well as all the private one's What I hope people can understand its my job to be your advocate, you don't have 4 1/2 hours to spend on hold during these predicaments who does! but I also have the knowledge of "what to say to the cruise lines" to get things done I think faster - I've done this 23 years, I better know the words by now. And its so disappointing to clients - I could care less in these predicaments about my bottom line - your dream trip has been disrupted and I need to fix it! No not every agent out there can or does believe that but our office has some of the best around! not just me but ALOT of agents in our office work this way. Long story short - it worked out and they get to cruise! Happy for you and Dan both!
  6. yes, all above are right Deck 4, and the new terminal is much better
  7. This is just not a good situation all around - the cruise line is allowing you to change to a new sailing and price protecting, and adding in $100 onboard credit as a good will gesture - they are also giving client who booked airfare with royal free change in airfare. For those like Waaaytoo that book air on her own they are allowing up to $200 reimbursement of airline change fees. This cancellation is due to refurbishments not being made in time but still it leaves a bad taste for clients and will be a hard sell now for RCI to get people to trust them No worries though Waaaytoo -I got your back!! Also - this is also why travel insurance comes in handy! you never know what will happen
  8. yep - the size of the staterooms is generally the same in each category but the number like D3, vs D4 gives you options as to locations. And also determines if they hold 2, 3 or 4 people as well. The more middle of the ship, the more the cost generally or the more exclusive the category like Aft Balcony cabins, the more the cost Hope that helps.
  9. I bring my own hair dryer also depending on the ship because it just works better than the one's they have onboard - the newer ships have better options but the older one's I don't really like
  10. Polster - that is unusual and may be because you are outside the US I transfer money all the time- actually all they do is make the new booking and keep the money on the booking - very very easy Nicky - look at prices online Don't cancel your cruise there is no need to do that unless the new offers says FOR NEW BOOKINGS ONLY - Any good RCI agent, can just adjust your pricing - key is getting someone that knows how to do this - Keep in mind you may lose onboard credits (if that came with original prices) or get less obc etc. What I am seeing as a trend now is BOOK EARLY The clients I have that have booked 9 months or more out are getting the best deals on their pricing - even when new offers come out - their original prices are better
  11. both airports have a transfer company called Go-Green and they have really cheap rates and can transfer you to both ports. Agree with others if you like the Night Life then South Beach is good - or if you want both stay in North Miami Beach, a little quieter and an easy cab ride to South Beach. Ft Lauderdale I think has better beaches and still bars and places to eat and Las Olas is a fun street but its different. I even like the Hollywood beach areas too - Like others have said for 3 days you are 20 min apart between the cities so getting back and forth are easy
  12. Agree I think its better to be higher on ships too
  13. Super easy to do - hope you get it all worked out and welcome!
  14. I love them and have stayed in them a few times - yes you can hear the music when they do the parties like 80s night its not bad, but if you were sleeping it could bother you - I try and get a room farther down at the far end of the deck that way as not to be right on the parade area but I love them. Curtains are great and I love being able to look down on the Promenade.
  15. Yep the Majesty is an older ship and just the configuration of the rooms do not allow for 4 people in them - the newer ships can, but some of the older one's do not. but the perks are cool.
  16. Like Matt said - the hard part of cruises is when they drop prices after you pay final With RCI they will often give you an upgrade equal to the price you paid - so if you paid $1000 for insides and now the ocean views are $1000, if they have space they can sometimes upgrade you to that. Just ask questions and be careful it does not "drop" any features or OBC off the booking if they do this, may not be worth it For me cabins are not the most important part of the cruise, but for others, it is -
  17. Yes, and these are great experiences - lots of food though so come hungry and ask questions of the Chef and staff - in the past I was even treated to a kitchen tour but that is based on the Chef's preferences
  18. not sure I'll ever get these colors, lol
  19. Basically it is the pregnant women that have to be the most careful Otherwise if you were to get the virus, from what I have read and heard on TV from Drs. its just a regular Virus that would make you feel awful. But to pregnant women it is dangerous. Carry bug spray for sure and like monorail medic explained I'm not a doctor and there are many articles in the media and online with the CDC that can go over symptoms and questions with this virus.
  20. great way to look at the deck plans, thanks for sharing the tip
  21. Jason- no, I have never seen a discount offered on drinks etc during a first sailing They might do this if there are big glitches but most of the time people know its the first sailing and know there may still be maintenance issues going on so just expect it sometimes.
  22. great tip, thanks for sharing - always a good idea to look at alternate air cities
  23. Jason- I have done quite a few - sometimes there are glitches with the staff they are training on the ships so that is some of the things they are trying to work out - and they also may not totally be done with the ship itself and paint or woodwork, little things that you may not notice but that the crew has to handle - You will often see Engineers and audio or media a lot on these as well going over the last minute things and taking pictures for trade or for RCI so areas may be closed off at times to you to go into - they try and keep this at a minimum and will not post when or where they are doing things so its kind of a surprise etc BUT you get the best of the best cause often these are not full ENJOY and post back for sure
  24. Has anyone been on Explorer since it was refurbished? Does it have a Nursery? I have called RCI 3 times and no one is consistent in answers!!! Thank you!
