Part two: I forgot to buy travel insurance.

so what happened with my British Isles cruise is, after realizing I'd be spending the night at Heathrow (provided I could find a taxi on the day of the Queen's funeral… Good luck… ,) I thought, "hey, why not stay on the ship and just take the transatlantic back to the United States?" Sounded like a great idea. I went to guest services to do so and I forget why, but for some reason they just directed me to do it all on my phone. So I booked the cruise on my phone while standing in the atrium of the ship. Somewhere in the process, I either overlooked the offer for travel insurance, or it wasn't offered. (possibly because the cruise was only four days away.) And though I always buy travel insurance,  in the rush to get everything booked and settled, I forgot all about it.

On day five of the transAtlantic, I thought to myself, "Wait....I never bought travel insurance." I figured it was too late and just hoped that would not need it.

On day six I needed it. I had all the signs of a detached retina and had to go to medical. We were looking at our very last stop on land the next day in Spain and then we would be at sea for a week. They arranged for me to go see an eye doctor in Spain the next day.

if it turned out I had a detached retina, they would need to do emergency surgery right away, and I would need to stay off an airplane for two weeks.

So I laid awake all night, picturing having emergency eye surgery in Spain, while the crew on the ship tossed my suitcases overboard onto the pier and sailed away without me. I was traveling solo and was wondering how much it would cost to have surgery, have my husband fly out to help me, and then how much it would cost to stay in a hotel room in Spain for two weeks and then find my way to the airport and then fly home. $$$$$

It turned out I did not have a detached retina and I made it back to the ship in plenty of time for sailaway and everything was fine.

And now I never forget insurance or hotel reservations.
     The End

This is what I think is truly unacceptable.  The LEAST they can do is to price match your booking if they are making you change your sailing.  The fact that they expect YOU to make up the difference on a price that has undoubtedly gone up, is just not right.

Absolutely "intentional deflection". I truly believe that. Why anyone would waste time and energy defending a multi billion dollar corporation is beyond me. Look at the original letter and what they now send. The intentional deflection is right there in black and white in the words. Is it so hard for you people to believe that Royal Caribbean is back peddling by re-wording what this was and what they called/calling it now? Does saying who do they think they are fooling now calling it a change of plan, show some sick form of disloyalty? I truly don't understand seeing a multi billion dollar corporation as a can do no wrong thing in people's lives. I don't buy that of anyone, let alone big businesses. It's so obviously a sad attempt at a spin at the 13th hour. LOL.
And honestly the only reason I would hope you stop, re-read, and consider that is possibly what this is, is because the endless defending around here of this company can feel cult like to others. And it really does feel spooky at times, when that happens. You also can feel vilified when your opinion goes against the loyal followers. I try my best to look at the facts presented to me. Never vote the party line. I was raised call BS when you see it/hear it.
That said, Thank you. I will be going and hope to be impressed. Fingers crossed. Happy and safe travels to you and all my "Fans" here. 😁

MedallionNet is powered by SES/O3b, the satellite provider that Royal dumped to migrate to Starlink.  Also, the maritime service from Starlink is not residential.  Royal has implemented a commercial Starlink service that uses multiple antenna and modems to aggregate bandwidth up to 5Gbps on larger ships.
Where I work we have over 8,000 users that use around that throughput on a daily basis.  But we don't cap or police users to low bandwidth limits like Royal does that are known to be problematic for WiFi users.

I wouldn't touch them myself, but if it's been 45+ minutes and nobody has ever returned to the chair, I'll ask a crew member to remove them in  keeping with Royal's policy.

I don't think anyone is moving stuff just because nobody is near it at that moment in time.  The staff sets timers.

That is a cute game, and I also recognized that artwork. The vocals sound the same, too. I have to figure that Royal Caribbean commissioned "Wash Your Hands" from the same folks ("Tangerine Kitty").
I wonder whether the music is a bizarre coincidence. They seem too close to be likely, but I did a bit more searching for some sort of connection or overlap, but I can't find anything.

Any place can be dangerous in deed. I've just been on Miami for a short cruise and decided to go with my wife for an evening walk on Lincoln Road just to be trapped in the middle of a fight that almost turned into a shootout.

No doubt they've blocked the speed test sites to prevent folks from posting proof of the slow speeds.

The first 2 items in your list above will get confiscated 9 times out of 10, and it varies greatly from port to port, and even among agents at the same port.   Any device that converts 1 X 120V AC outlet into more than 1 will most likely get confiscated.  Regardless of what the CS person told you.

Don't be fooled by the "cruise approved" stamp on the package, it means absolutely nothing.

Currently on an Adventure of the Seas cruise to Costa Maya and Cozumel. I had a multi-outlet adapter (no surge protector) confiscated along with an a passive adapter for Euro-to-US-style plug. I tried to argue that these devices aren't on the proscribed list, but to no avail. The cruise blogs need to get more up-to-date information. BTW, A four-port USB with cord passed muster.
