  1. I wish I hadn't clicked on this thread. Y'all are killin' my gin buzz. I think it would be prudent if I gave these message boards a break for a while.
  2. Thanks for the heads up; recorded and just watched it an hour ago. Tell me - why in the hell do I do this to myself? IF we get to sail on Allure in Aug, it will be nearly 3 years since my last cruise, and watching these shows just drive that stake through my soul. I'm dying to walk that plank, have a drink in my hand within 7 minutes, and then up to the hot tub!
  3. I love Labadee. It's so relaxing, and the drinks are never far away.
  4. The tugboats are the only line that debark from Charleston. Occasionally, we'll get a visit stop from other lines, but usually all we see is that dumb fantail. Oh man, if RC left from Charleston, I'd be a pauper.
  5. The Gem has been at a shipyard here in Charleston for a couple months...I would climb on in a second if I could.
  6. ^^^ And you know those teachers love to drink whilst on holiday ?
  7. Deck 14 on Harmony, on the port side. Solarium is my favourite spot on the ship, so I was 3 cabins away from the door that leads outside to King of the World, which is the beginning of the Solarium.
  8. Thanks, y'all! Man, I had the best cabin for next week's sailing - 3 rooms from the door to King of the world, and this stinking virus made me lose it.
  9. Yeah, I went there.....Matt's a little cryptic on that one. I thought someone had told me there was one on starboard, but I can't verify it. I guess in the long run, it's no big deal. Thanks for the help, SSS!
  10. Please, for all things that are good in this world, someone answer this easy question: Is there a door on Deck 14 starboard that leads to the Solarium? I know there is one on port side that leads to KofW. I need a quick answer before I book this cabin!! Thanks
  11. I'm not busy that week. My feet don't stink and I swear I don't snore.
  12. Looks like she is in Port Canaveral until spring, and then Allure takes over until November. Since we've been cancelled twice so far, and our 2/28 sailing is looking iffy, I was hoping that she might stay put and RC would add some sailings during the summer. If not, is Allure as good as Harmony? I wish she could have gotten the full refurb. Any chance, or am I an idiot (don't answer that).
  13. Full disclosure: I'm 58 and have never had a Bloody Mary. Do I still get to keep my card?
  14. Oh, how I miss the Solarium Bar. ? And yeah, what are those. I think I could kill 'em all

  16. You just gained a new fan. I'm so tired of ignorant people touting that worn-out catch phrase "floating petri dish" and not having a clue about what the CLIA, and Royal and Norwegian especially, have done to mitigate any risk to passenger or crewmember. Good for you to stick up for yourself (and us, too) by standing up to ignorance. Come January, no matter how you voted, we are going to have to really prepare for a possible death of cruising. The current administration seems to want businesses and corporations (i.e. cruise lines) to open asap, whilst the incoming group seen to want to shut it down. I'm very apolitical, but that's how I'm seeing it.
  17. I'm late to cruising (first one in '15, and I'm 58). I feel like I'm missing a large chunk of time that could have been used for cruising. I've seen the RC crewmembers at work when there was no thing as a Covid virus pandemic, so I have every confidence in their ability to keep me safe. The company officers have spent a LOT of money to ensure adhesion to the CDC protocols and I am sure they know what they're doing; after all, this is their livelihood. I work from home now (thanks, covid), so quarantining won't be a problem if necessary. All I know is that I need to be on a ship. Living in Charleston, we don't have any mountains to jump off!
  18. "no sail order" and "socially distance" Two out of a gazillion
  19. You can bring a lot more home if it's made in St. Thomas or other USVI spots, which is great because this stuff is stupid awesome.
  20. I love drinking. Our first two cruises we were sans DBP; the last two with. I looooove the fresh squeezed OJ and try to have it every morning. The Solarium being my spot, I go there as much as I can, but I don't think they have the FSOJ, although I'm sure they'd go get me some if I asked. I start drinking around 11:30-12, and until the evening I don't care what I have. Of course, being ancient, I always forget the drinks that I hear everyone talk about (especially shots). But I don't care, just bring it on. I generally don't drink anything during dinner. After dinner, it's pretty much straight, neat liquors. I love trying high-end bevs, especially bourbons. I'm hoping Harmony will have Blanton's when we sail in Feb (yes, we will, dammit!). Oddly, I have never stepped foot in the wine bars in 4 cruises. I like German whites, but don't know a bloody thing about wine, so I'm a little intimidated by going in there. Wife doesn't like wine at all, so it will be just me. I'm disappointed that it appears that we won't be allowed to venture into the ports, as I love going into downtown Charlotte-Amalie and buying lots of rum. BTW, if you like a good, smooth rum, try Havensight when you're in St. Thomas. With the DBP, I never drink beer while onboard (mostly because their craft menu is awful), but I'm hopeful that, when we get to Coco Cay, they will still have the collaboration with Funky Buddha, which is a great brewery. Lord, I hope I can remember to drink more water next time.
