That's what I kept thinking, and I still went and did it.  But multiple TA's on a few other platforms kept posting this and I assumed they must be correct. BUT to be safe, I think everyone should (and probably already has) done it by now, anyway

I'll share my experience with it.  Not sure if it applies to the newest increase so take how you want.  I just added and prepaid my gratuities for our upcoming trip in 10 days last week.  I was expecting to pay the current rate of $16/day.  However, was only charged $14.5/day.  I was told it was because it this trip was booked before the $16 went into a effect last year.

  2. We have not done it yet but we will be for our cruise for Thanksgiving week leaving from Miami.  We are going to take the Tri Rail from West Palm Beach to Miami.  There is a $15 discount from tri rail to take an uber from PBI to the tri rail station.   Our hotel is than just a short 5 minute walk from the tri rail station in miami.  Flying into PBI was significantly cheaper and get us into Miami 8 hours sooner.

  3. We do not get the internet package.  Doubt we ever will.   One of our phones goes into the safe, the other goes into airplane mode and is turned into camera. You should consider it, we really enjoy being "disconnected".  You could put the money towards an excursion, daily gratuities, a drink package, dinning package ect.  Enjoy the people you are with, the ship, the ocean, the ports. Stay off the screen, everything will be there on the "connected" world when you return.

  4. Pickleball will be offered outdoors on the sports court.  It will be held at least a few days in the morning usually between 8-10am.  They will have anywhere from 1-3 nets set up.  It is mainly open play, the sports staff will set the nets and provide a few paddles and balls.  But the rest is usually up the guest figure out from my experience.  I have not seen any tournaments.  The level of play is usually anywhere from never seen a pickleball to players who play everyday.  Hope this helps.

Can't answer as to whether children get the a la carte option, I don't see why not, but I can say it can be used at multiple a la carte specialty restaurants, just not the same one many times a day. You could do Portside for lunch, the Izumi $35 prefix for dinner and then have $20 at playmakers for a snack. They changed it so you can't close out Playmakers after you spent your $20 and open another tab, which is what people were doing.

ok that makes sense, so it is basically $20/ per person per restaurant per day.  In the cruse planner it just "For restaurants with a la carte pricing, you’ll receive a $20 food credit, which can only be used once a day."  Which i figured was just $20 for all a la carte purchases.

  6. I also have a question about Kids and the unlimited dining package.   If we are to purchase the kids unlimited dining package, does the kids package also come with the $20/day a la carte food credit?  Also with the new per day food credit limit with the unlimited dining packages.  Would you be able to use the $20 credit for lunch at either playmakers or portside BBQ and also be able to get Izumi ($35) on the same day?  TIA

  7. We had the UDP for our Symphony of the Seas Cruise in June (100% capacity).  Once we boarded (10:30am checkin), we did our muster drill, booked our shows/entertainment for the week and than went to chops to book our dinner reservations for the night.  We got all the times we wanted.  I would think you will be able to get times that work for you.  There were open tables at every reservation time when we went.  I could see it being a tad more difficult if you have a large party 8+ people.

  8. We decided to book two interior connecting rooms on our up coming oasis of the seas cruises.  This will be the first time taking our two kids (8,5).  We originally had one central park balcony booked but when checking prices found out that the two connecting rooms on deck 9 with central park window was actually about the same price, so we decided to change.  Having two bathrooms, three beds, two couches should give everyone enough room.

  9. We always bring cash.  Usually way to much and it just sits in the safe.  Always prefer to pay with cash when on vacation, that way we make sure I do not go over budget as if the cash runs out then we can buy anything else.  But we do carry at least one CC if an emergency were to take place.

  10. We just got off the Symphony two weeks ago.  We brought our paddles and shoes to play as we saw that they had pickeball every morning starting at 8am for a two to three hours.  It was a bit of a disappointment as they only had one court on the sport court.  The first day there were a bunch of people ready to play but since there was only one court most waited to long i think and never returned for any of the other days.

We were on Allure in 2019 and the sports court was set up with 3 nets.  However, pickleball wasnt offered everyday on that cruise.  But when it was all courts were being utilized.  One thing that we did notice is that the sport staff was not up on much of the rules.  So be prepared to potentially do a lot of coaching as there were a lot of people who have never played before.

For our June 25th Symphony cruise I was able to get the DBP for $57/day & the UDP for $166. I did score these prices about 9 months ago though. For my particular cruise Black Friday sales focused on Coco Cay where almost everything was 50% off.

We are on the same cruise and got the refreshment drink package for $16/day, UDP for $166/pp and Thrill water park for $55/pp on black friday as well 😀
