How it works: All throughout the cruise (most specifically around dinner time, formal night, in the dining rooms, within the first 3 or so hours at each port and on embarkation day - also maybe at the water slides or pool) there will be Royal Cruise line photographers at sectioned off staged photo areas with either canvas backdrops of various scenes or colors, a prop or costumed crew member (at ports) or around highlight points of the ship such as The Royal Promenade Bridge, Central Park on Oasis Class, the atrium glass stairs, Wonderland's chair on Odyssey. They will scan your seapass card or just ask for your stateroom number and then guide you through several poses though you are more than welcome to try some out yourself.
By the next day around mid morning, those photos will be viewable in the ship's photo area on computer workstations. The pictures are (I think) lightly edited - blurring backgrounds, adjusting lighting - but no heavy photoshop changes. They don't have time for that lol.
With or without a package you can take photos - you are only paying to OWN them after the cruise.
Within the first 2 days onboard, Royal will have photo package prices that echo what you see on cruise planner now (save for any steep discounts that come with specific sales) and you can buy a package at any time on board.
I would suggest, that even if you're on board and haven't settled on if you will or won't get a package, stop by every station and take all the photos you can. If you end up with that 100-photo package, you want to have plenty to pick from to get your money's worth.

Packages: As with most things on Cruise Planner, package prices vary by ship and sailing and not everyone will have the same thing. Not since my first cruise in 2015 have I seen prices as low as Mum got. Most times I see $20 single photo, $150 for 20 photos, and $250+ for 100 photos. There is also a private session package which may interest you if you want to go bigger on your anniversary.
With the ongoing sale, prices on my August Allure cruise are:
    10 photos $96.99 (regular price $149.99) 20 photos $119.99 (regular price $199.99) 100 photos $136.99 (regular price $249.99)
Is It Worth It: That is something only you can decide. Some people don't find it worth it if they have a cell phone or DSLR that takes really good photos. All of the areas the photographers are in are publicly accessible and you can use them once the photographer leaves or before they get there. But, you may struggle to get non-selfies of the two of you together unless you ask a passing cruiser or staff to snap a photo or 2 of you. In that circumstance you won't have the photographer to help you pose best (i.e, what to do with your hands, how to open your body to the camera, where to look, avoiding a double chin etc), not as much time to get it right, and be subject to the potentially dim or bad lighting of the area. You should also consider if you're going to be off ship early enough to catch the port photos (my favorite). Since they have to be back on board in order to get them processed for viewing by dinner-ish, they aren't out there all day. Only a couple hours. Also a good idea to consider what you'll do with the photos.

My offer is 1 print $20
10 prints or digital is $97
20 prints or digital is $120
Or upto 100 photos is $136.
Just the other day up to 100 prints was $100. I didn't realize all the prices change for everything. Does that also mean the shore excursion prices change also? 🤔 drink package that was $50 is now $66

I have a two night dining package and it says there's a $10 surcharge for hibachi. Is that per person or just an extra $10 overall? The planner site isn't super clear.

The cruise compass and the navigation channel on the ship TV system will display sunrise and sunset times.
The ship is often moving for sunrise and sunset so the actual position of the sun can't be predicted ahead of time.  You can estimate where the ship be and knowing the sun rises in the east you can predict roughly what side of the ship sunrise will be on.  The solarium and bridge wings can sometimes be a good spot or if the sun is directly aft the jogging track on deck 5 aft might be a good spot.  Deck 16 can be a nice spot.  Deck 15 aft on either side of the Abyss for aft view angles.

They will decorate the stateroom at a charge and you can also order a cake for the stateroom, again at a charge. Both of these can booked in the "gifts and gear" section in your cruise planner.
In the MDR, if you make a point of telling your wait staff/head waiter the day before, they will bring your dad a slice of cake with a candle to the table and sing happy birthday. There is no charge for this. You could also order a cake instead of the slice but there will be a charge for that.
I don't know about the specialty restaurants but since they can do it in the MDR I imagine they can do it in those too.

On our 1st cruise for my 50th my wife was a little disappointed that RC didn't do more for people's birthday's. It wasn't until i pointed out that everyone on the ship could potentially be celebrating a birthday, anniversary or even a divorce that she understood that while its possible its just not feasible.

In the past, when the ships were smaller and had fewer passengers, they were more pro-active. We had some nice efforts for our anniversaries back in the day, but in these days of mega-ships the size of small towns, as you say, it's just not feasible.

They don't automatically do anything. If you want a celebration you would need to arrange it.
You could easily speak to your waiter or the restaurant managers if you want to do something at dinner.
As others have mentioned, there are some celebration decorations and cakes available for purchase that would be for the room.

We sailed on Oasis in November and the day of embarkation happened to be our 42nd anniversary.  We did not say anything but our friends had put a few decorations on our door which mentioned anniversary!  When we got back to our room that night our steward had left a beautiful note and towels shaped into 2 swans that were facing each other creating a heart!  It was very sweet of him especially because no one had said a thing to him!
Our most recent cruise celebrated our son’s birthday as well as our nephew so on our last night of sailing our MDR waiter brought 2 slices of cake with candles to them and several waiters joined in singing.  All we did was mention it at beginning of dinner.

You can download the app from the Apple store or Google Play store.  You do not need to purchase an internet package on the ship to use the app, it will run off of the ship's wifi.

It's not a published metric that we know of.  Royal does monitor for signs that someone is sharing a drink package and then they deal with that on an individual basis.  Consistently drinking your drinks very quickly would appear to be a pretty good indicator that someone is sharing a drink package.
Royal serves thousands of drinks every day on their ships.  They know drinking patterns and they know signs of someone sharing drinks from a drink package.  They also know signs that someone is drinking too much such that safety starts to become a concern.  They don't publish every metric they use to know when a pattern raises a flag or warrants intervention.
If a shooter goes down in a second the bartenders will take that into account.  If a cocktail, beer or wine is gone in a minute that's going to raise an eyebrow.  If it's happening several times an hour that is a pretty big red flag.

In the past there have been drink menus at the bar. Additionally, the drink menus are posted in the App for each bar on ship.
Before all of our kids were legal drinking age we were able to order the mocktails at the bars when we ordered our drinks.
we always do the Unlimited Drink Package, so not sure about answers to your other questions.

Technically a mocktail is any drink sans alcohol. So, you can get a daiquiri without rum and so on. I think red bull becomes included with the deluxe package.
Each bar will have menus and the app has the menus for each bar. I believe the Windjammer; room service and the solarium bistro will have fresh squeezed juices.

Main Dining Room can also get you fresh squeezed juice and you get a larger glass than in the WJ.  I drank 4 or 5 fresh squeezed OJs in the WJ vs 2 when we had breakfast in the MDR.

Hello everyone, this is my official first post!
For my upcoming cruise I have ordered the Refreshment Package which includes
Coca-Cola Freestyle beverages Non-alcoholic cocktails (mocktails) Fountain soda and refills at any venue Bottled still and sparkling water Premium coffees and teas Fresh-squeezed juices Johnny Rockets Shakes Coca-Cola souvenir cup
I have a few questions, is Red bull included?
Also where do I get the fresh squeezed juices?
Also regarding the mocktails, do they offer that at every bar, lounge or restaurant? Are there a lot of mocktails you can order, does anyone know how much? For example less then 10 or more then 10 different mocktails?
Also at the bar where you order drinks, are there menus so you can see what to order?
Thanks so much for any guidance or help on this topic. Thanks
