ATT Cruise Package or VOOM?
Ubiquitous Cruiser replied to KTCorinne's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
All good input here and the note about an older plan may come into play. My specific plan is an older one and has this option when clicking through the Roam Mexico panel under My add-ons. -
ATT Cruise Package or VOOM?
Ubiquitous Cruiser replied to KTCorinne's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Have never used it but AT&T does offer an international day pass for in-country service. It's $10 for the primary line and $5 for each extra line. It uses your existing data/talk plan. You can sign-up by country on their website prior to your cruise. Also believe they will text you the offer if you take your phone out of airplane mode while ashore. Further most of their plans offer free service in Mexico since AT&T is a carrier there. You have to enable the free sign-up but it's a set it and forget feature. We've used that in Cozumel, Costa Mya and Cancun for years. [BTW I am AT&T employee and am only sharing this info for informational purposes.] -
Short Cruise trend
Ubiquitous Cruiser replied to Vancity Cruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Shorter cruises have their place but what I don't like is that many of the larger ships do them. 4 or 5 days on a Radiance class is fine but 4 days on an Oasis class and we barely have time to do all the things we enjoy. -
RC credit card 4 points per dollar bonus
Ubiquitous Cruiser replied to BB1's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
A few weeks ago, they did a 2x point promo on any purchase, so we paid a final balance. Didn't expect they do 4x points, but they did! -
Slight threadjack ... After disembarking one cruise we were missing one bag. Waited for hours for it to appear and finally decided to just leave and deal with it later as we had a 7-hour drive back home. This was in Tampa, so my wife and daughter waited out on Channelside while I went to the garage to get the car. When I picked them up outside the deck my wife was standing there with my bag! I was like what???? She said there was a large van loading up people and their luggage and one the people asked, "Who is [insert my name]?" She yelled back. "That's my husband's bag!" Since then I've never once left my bags out for disembarkation.

We always tip for our diamond drinks and on a recent 7 night we had 3 of our vouchers "stolen" from the MDR on the last night. We did not know it and went to the Schooner for our final nightly nightcap. The bartender told us we only had 1 drink left. Said to give it to my wife as I headed to customer no service. As you can imagine the line was crazy long & they could not resolve it ... As I furiously left the counter my wife was standing there with my drink of choice. She said the bartenders gave it to her to give to me. It's not that we cannot afford to purchase a drink, but I was so touched that these guys felt bad for me that they made a comp drink. Not sure if tipping helped but it sure didn't hurt.

Silent Disco - Kids Allowed?
Ubiquitous Cruiser replied to MoonMan81's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
If you mean the one at 11PM in the Viking Crown, security checks id for that. As Scott noted, there will usually be an all-ages silent disco activity on the promenade. Usually in the afternoon. -
We flew into Baltimore and had a different experience than seems that most of the commenters have reported. Upon arrival we took the train to downtown and were able to walk to our hotel - Lord Baltimore. From there we were able to walk to many dining/entertainment venues. The next morning we took a Lyft to the port, and it was super easy. On disembarkation morning we got super lucky in that a Lyft driver had literally just dropped off a friend to work at the port and was sitting in the parking lot when we requested a ride. The app told us our driver was a 1-minute walk - LOL. We had her drop us off downtown where I camped at coffee shop doing some work before our flight later that afternoon. Took the train back to the airport and off we went. We felt safe walking around the entertainment center in downtown. Since then we have read of crime in that area but honestly that happens everywhere all the time in most major cities.

We were there early May. Though it had not opened yet the new development looks nice. The museum interest me the most and do plan to visit the next time we're there.

Starlink and Zoom Meeting Capabilities
Ubiquitous Cruiser replied to jabberwk's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
My recent experience on Serenade with Teams was the same as Traveling Mike - though I did not enable video primarily because I didn't want to make everyone else jealous that I was on a cruise ship. -
When you book a Next Cruise and later see a price reduction, do you lose the OBC if you reprice it?

Rules of Souvenirs from Ports
Ubiquitous Cruiser replied to SePa's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
You can bring wine/liquor and security will hold it until the last night of the cruise. The stateroom attendant will leave it in your cabin. Also don't think they'd care about pasta. We've brought truffles and other snack items (chips, etc.) without issue. -

Royal Survey -- Not a Cruise Follow-Up?
Ubiquitous Cruiser replied to Iluv4n6's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Have received these ... most recently was a few weeks back and looks similar to what you posted above. It said 10 minutes and 20 minutes in I was like ENOUGH! It kept asking the same questions in different manners and I got frustrated with the rank various list from 1-10 in preference. YMMV -
Where to park at Port Everglades?
Ubiquitous Cruiser replied to Bill Johnson's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
We used Park-N-Go for a rate of 10.50 / day in April and would do so again. If you've ever used an off-site parking at an airport, it's exactly the same experience. Will say that it was kind of confusing (to us) following the GPS to the lot. -
cruising at the end of February- weather?
Ubiquitous Cruiser replied to Magoody's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Not sure where you're sailing from & to, but we've sailed from Tampa during this period. Can be cool leaving and returning, but the weather at the ports is awesome. Seems like that return to port sea day gets cooler and windy, but not uncomfortable. -
Tampa cruise terminal question
Ubiquitous Cruiser replied to JR&EM's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Great opportunity to head over to Ybor City for the day. Grab some Cuban coffee and pastries and recommend the Ybor City Museum. It's right downtown and gives a great history of the construction and culture of the city. Cigar City brewing is good landing spot too. There's also a free trolly with a stop not too far from the cruise port. A ride share to the airport area will run about $35. -

Allure of the Seas Boardwalk Donuts
Ubiquitous Cruiser replied to Jailman's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Took a galley tour on Freedom once and the pastry chef said all breads, deserts and pastries were made fresh on board. Had some huge mixers running as we were talking to him. Donuts are really just deep-fried pastries so can't imagine they would outsource them -
Adding events to app calendar
Ubiquitous Cruiser replied to Done's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I would like the ability to add events so that they're integrated into the app, but Toby's plan of using the phone is prob more solid. -
Ship change (Adventure/Voyager)

Well, I must've dreamed it, or it changed. The app is showing the original booking - Voyager and GTY. -
Ship change (Adventure/Voyager)
Ubiquitous Cruiser replied to BigMac3001's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Had a Balcony GTY on Voyager & it transferred right away - one and only time booking GTY, so it probably worked out for us this time.
