Currently on Symphony,  closing out another wonderful Royal cruise. First time on a ship this size. We were worried the size would overwhelm us. We have been pleasantly surprised.  As usual, the crew are superb!!  We have only 2 complaints. First, the Royal app has been very hit or miss. It freezes frequently, which is a bummer when you've come to rely on it from previous cruises. The other issue had been the MDR. On our boarding pass,  we were scheduled for 8:00 seating, which is what we wanted.  When we received our Sea Pass Cards, it showed My Time Dining. We were unable to get it changed.  The food has been good as usual (with a couple of exceptions). The staff was great.  However,  we like getting to know  the staff, and when they change every night it isn't as fun.

We did a cruise on Brilliance - long, long time ago, Easter 2009 - that did the Eastern Med with a port stop in Alexandria. We did a full day excursion to the pyramids at Giza and the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

Without looking up anything about this at all - could this have been one of the routes that had St. Petersburg removed from the itinerary which caused some port shuffling?

Yep, my Excitement Level is at it's peak.  It's only 30 days now until my Fun Meter starts to wave back and forth.
Woke up this morning, turned on this electronic addiction device and found that my TA emailed me some documents for info purposes.  So, I logged into royalcaribbean.com and my luggage tags are ready to print.  Isn't it funny how everything happens, at least to me, in little milestones.  I'm so old, I don't like to wish time away/would go faster, so I don't like countdowns.  But, going on a cruise, especially on RCCL, is one countdown after another.  Now, I'm counting down in hopes of getting the email from our Genie.  Which is actually an unknown day/date.  Then the COVID pre-cruise test, then the flight to Seattle, then boarding/embarkation day.  No, I'm not excited, not much, eh!
It's been far too damn long since I've cruised.  I do keep a positive attitude that everything will be as I'd hope it will be.  My old Army buddy and his wife are traveling with us, like they do on most other vacations, we are like brother and sister, but this is their first time on Royal.  We've really really built up Royal and Star Class to then.  I can't, however, help to have concerns in the back of my mind that things won't be as I remember them, pre-COVID.  But, we'll see.

This was my experience on Odyssey - they encouraged us to come back every night and let us make reservations through the week ahead of time. I don't expect the same experience on Allure later this year, but will definitely be trying to go every night!

It was one of our favorite parts of the space. We ate a bit later than most other diners appeared to in CK so there was tons of room (and also, low capacity anyway), so they set us up with a space so we sat next to each other and could both look out the window as the sun was setting. Amazing.

Also adding on to my previous comment, the Coastal Kitchen experience I had on Odyssey was by far my favorite dining experience I've ever had on board. Marlon (our waiter) was our favorite and we loved chatting with him each night. Really hope to meet him again on another ship.

Hollywood Beach Marriott - great amenities, and right on the boardwalk with beach access as well as lots of restaurants and shops. Always our favorite if we have a couple days or so ahead of a cruise, but it is on the more expensive side.

KLA got a reaction from Robert2470 in Smaller Ship Cruising
I adore Radiance class, and absolutely loved my experience on Empress. I went out of my way to book a second sailing on Empress right after my first one (before the pandemic cancelled those plans). I typically lean towards the smaller ships as opposed to Oasis class, but I also agree with @twangster's comment that I don't see it happening with Royal.
Actually, I think I liked Odyssey a bit more over the Oasis class (though having the opportunity to sail her while capacity was so low might have contributed to that point of view) - but obviously I'm going to be perfectly happy on any cruise ship I'm on. My next two cruises are on Symphony and Allure.
