  1. Main dining room servers used to bring the bottle of wine we were buying by the glass (Deluxe Package) so they didn't have to go to the service bar if we wanted a second (or third ) refill. I guess they caught on to that tactic.
  2. The deluxe drink package is not just bar drinks. You also get specialty coffees at the RCL coffee bar, bottled water, fresh juice at breakfast, smoothies. If you never have consumed any of those then a package may not be the cheapest way to go. If you do, figure those costs in your planning process.
  3. What interest? That’s old way thinking? Interest rates paid to consumers are close to Zero. I would rather get a refund than owe more to the IRS.
  4. Is RC going to opt in to the new "voluntary" CDC Cruising guidelines released yesterday February 9. https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/cruise/management/technical-instructions-for-cruise-ships.html
  5. Our plan too but we screwed up and rescued 2 dogs. We do not have anybody to pet sit for us and boarding them is $75 a day. We *could* travel more I guess but I worry about their psyche if we were to board them much more than we already do. If you have pets it could cramp your travel frequency.
  6. We like to nonstop flights as well but 10:00 am is pushing the envelope. We walked off a ship one time to make a 10:45 am flight. The line to disembark started to build at 6:30 am. We got to the airport in time and the TSA screening area was not that crowded. The airline did change our gate 2 separate times and we got our aerobic walks as a "bonus??" Another cruise we had from Tampa bay was delayed 6 hours at the mouth of Tampa Bay as it was closed due to dense fog. The captain said he had bad news and good news. Tampa Bay was closed and we had to wait at the mouth of the bay BUT we were the first ship in line to enter once it opened. He also said it was a 2 hour journey from our present position to being docked once the bay was reopened. You could not believe the mess at the port terminal. Several thousand passengers were waiting to board the ship and several thousand passengers were storming off the ship to try and fix or make travel connections. I didn't get cell service until about an hour into the bay. My point is all the stars have to align to make that 10:00 am flight.
  7. What does the best price indicator look like? I always use the web and mock book a cruise for the date and room category of my booked cruise. Is there another way to price check?
  8. I appreciate the responses and the actions taken. My original post was too abrupt or even angry. I could of satisfied my curiosity with more tact. I apologize for the tone of my questions.
  9. At what point do my posts to this message board no longer need moderator approval? I have made 67 posts to date with 0 warnings. I was just notified I reached Emerald status for this system. When will I be trusted?
  10. I have the same issue. I thought I had it figured out as the amount I still owed was the exact amount of a specialty dining reservation made and canceled through the web Cruise Planner. I have made 3 calls with multiple hours of hold time combined and still no resolution. I have an incident number (basically a bug report) that was finally opened by a "supervisor" and was told to try making the payment again in about a week!! The real issue is I do not owe it!! It has been 2 weeks and I am currently on hold for another yet another try for resolution.
  11. Yes I have encountered this issue too. I use FireFox. It *seemed* to occur if I started browsing different things on the RC web site, then logged to my Royal Caribbean account, then tried to make a cruise payment. I found if I logged off, killed the browser, then launched a new browser and went through the payment process again, the drop down menu with ship names worked correctly. Make sure to kill the browser and not just open a new tab on a already running browser. I am unsure if this is a FireFox bug or an RC web bug.
  12. Wow!! Great idea for a B2B cruise. Wish I had thought of it before we booked our own B2B cruise.
  13. Has anyone tried or been able to apply an FCC to cover a Royal Up Bid?? TIA
  14. I tried to get one and was told they only handed them out to the ladies
  15. Never have been to Johnny Rockets for breakfast. What's on the menu?
  16. One person said they were able to connect to the ship's WiFi while waiting in the cruise terminal to board. They were able to book their entertainment choices before they boarded.
  17. Keep your eyes open. RC refunded a canceled a specialty dinner reservation to our credit card 1 too many times. They must of caught it and instead of reversing the extra refund credit they tacked it on to our cruise fare. The web site said we had paid for the cruise in full yet our cruise invoice showed a balance equal to the extra refund amount. I thought it was fixed but after 2 separate calls (at 2 hours apiece) it still isn't right. I actually paid the amount and the next credit card statement showed the "system" refunded it to our CC again. They have now opened an IT incident ticket. I worry the cruise will be canceled if I don't get it fixed by the final cruise payment date.
  18. We have only sailed on Anthem OTS which is a Quantum class ship. We booked a Jr suite (listed as a J3) on deck 10 and it had a full bath with a combo tub/shower AND a half bath (sink, commode). We were pleasantly surprised. We were told at the Next Cruise desk that the 2 bathroom configuration in Jr Suites were only on Quantum class ships.
  19. RCG were to offer departures from Israel but the unrest in the region caused RCG to cancel those voyages.
  20. B2B cruises on Ovation August, 2022 Cruise 1: $1815, Cruise 2: $1781 Total: $3599. The big difference was the addition of resident state discounts granted and then cruise fare price lowered.
  21. If one is awarded a free cruise comp from casino play, do they earn Crown & Anchor nights for the comp'ed cruise?
  22. Reading through this thread the main focus seems to be about drinks purchased from the bar and is the cost of the DBP justified? It was pointed out in another topic that DBP also included fresh squeezed juice at the Windjammer, bottles of water, pop, specialty coffee from Cafe Promenade, smoothies from Vitality and so on. If you buy the DBP just for bar drinks you will have to guzzle quite a few drinks to break even. If you also take advantage of the other included offerings you *might* be able to justify it. One other solution might be to get the RC Visa card and use exclusively for Royal purchases and all other normal CC purchases to build up points. Then use the rewards points to get on board credits. We have had the RC Visa for a number of years and one gets double reward points for Royal cruise costs and Cruise Planner purchases. Being Diamond Plus we can supplement the 5 included drinks per day for each of us with ala carte bar purchases covered by the on board credit we earned via points. We also take advantage of the other included DBP offerings.
  23. My wife and I stock up on water bottles besides the cocktails we consume. Every time we return to our cabin we always stop at a bar on the way to get bottled water. We ask nice and can usually get 2 each. When bartenders see the drink package code on our Seapass card they rarely ring them up. Pop, coffee drinks and juice are nice perks as well.
  24. We will be Diamond Plus after the first of B2B cruises and have been told we will be given DP status for the 2nd cruise but be sure to tell the Loyalty Ambassador that fact during first sailing. Does anyone know if the free or discounted wash and fold deals are on a per cabin basis or per occupant of the cabin? TIA
