This post is like watching a documentary with a strong biased agenda. Are crew members’s validating these points? Yes. Is this an accurate representation of the entire crew? Absolutely not. I also noticed several crew members that were either indifferent or didn’t bother to properly wear a mask themselves. Realistically, crew opinions on masks, enforcement, etc are more varied like anywhere else in the world.

I don’t see the value in this discussion and continual brow beating, it’s probably good to just lock at this point.

I did an 80% capacity cruise at Thanksgiving. They are still trying to do reduced capacity in venues and follow protocols, but it’s more smoke and mirrors for CDC. In reality….

For Odyssey of the seas, I was told that 100% capacity for the next two sails.  Around 25% of kids on the today's sail. With 80% capacity, it was pretty crowded.   It's going to be alot of stairs and wait on the line.

Keeping them 6 feet apart. Not allowing them to share any toys or supplies. That's the reason slots are so limited.

They desperately need to change AO rules once the CSO expires. You can't keep treating kids like they all have covid with rules have been deemed obsolete and unnecessary over a year ago.

I am, regardless of how others act.  I  have honestly always approached this subject based on my opnion.  This crew has taught me neither my or anyone else's opnion are the real issue on the ship.  It's not even about other passange4s feeling comfortable,  it's about their jobs.

Matt do you think this new mask policy is sustainable? Don't get me wrong, I LOVED my Allure cruise last week, but it really did dampen my experience having to wear a mask. My whole party decided no more cruises until mask mandate gone. Its sad to see the crew having to tell people to mask up and wash their hands all the time. Not to mention the poor life guards that stand there with a mask in the 85 degree weather!

What is the end date? I just came off the Allure last week and the masks were a bummer, the limited time we had to wear. It seemed like a lot more than not having them on. Drove me crazy, especially when you forget your mask in your room. I couldn't imagine now having to wear one while DANCING and playing in the casino. So if you don't drink and you want to smoke, you can't?

This worked for me. Masked at most 5% of the cruise.

They keep doing this bait and switch crap....first it was the mask free cruises over the summer that turned into masked up alot....now its masked up alot turned into masked up alot more.   I'm just going to do the only thing that makes sense......always have a drink in my hand....even if I'm not drinking it.....once it gets warm and nasty....I'll get another.

With 80% capacity, Main Dining is prepandemic. Tables are only 12" apart.

It is a simple calculation.  Any cruise with more than 70% capacity with restrictions is going to be difficult.

This. pre-pandemic there was no limit on going into a pool or sending kids to the kids club or other things. I experienced first hand on a Disney cruise what it looks like when they pack the ship as full as possible and dont loosen restrictions, it caused us to ditch Disney indefinitely, hoping to not have the same poor experience on RCL.

I’m not too worried about crowds/lines as much as RC still limiting at pool, restaurants and so on with more people on the ship.
It’s going to create longer delays, which will not be relaxing.

    1. Capacity is based on double occupancy 🙄 and I sailed at Thanksgiving. Several employees even referred to the sailing as full. For example, there were no empty or socially distanced tables in the dining room (assigned at least). Kids club restricted bookings to a few hours a day and you could only book a day in advance for entire sailing. Sorrentos line was almost always backed up to pub, ice cream line by pool was min 30-50 minute wait.
    2. It has nothing to do with me liking protocols or not, it’s basic math. For example, it is impossible to move people on elevators at 5 at a time, unless everyone is willing to wait for hours. It’s impossible to socially distance dining when capacity is near full. They attempted to turn people away from shows that were there 20 minutes early with a reservation, of course that didn’t fly.

I also feel that the cruise ship should install temperature monitor before going into theater,  Windjammer or any crowded area.  When you are in the theater and you hear people coughing constantly.  I understand people cough all the time but you just get nervous while sitting in the theater.

I’m on the Anthem. According to the comedian (an excellent source of factual, non-sarcastic information)…the North Star operates as normal until such time as someone onboard tests positive. Then they use it to quarantine whoever tests positive…and after a couple days, if they still test positive, they just swing it over the side and hit the jettison button.😜

Yes, that is what he said. In all honesty even if they open up the inventory, really won't have enough demand. The current protocols in place until March won't work under higher capacity.
