The world cruise next year is 275 days, in a suite = 550 CAS points, plus 170 from Diamond Plus= more than 700! Easy peasy! -
Double Points - Results

If you really wanted to, there's a way to go from D+ to Pinnacle in one cruise. The time may have passed for that opportunity, though. -
Welcome! I've been on both ships. I don't think that those ships make much of a difference to a first time cruiser, the shows are all great. For itinerary, I agree with Crimson. Book a 7-day cruise! The boss will understand!

Double Points - Results
Cakemeister replied to Andy & Sheryl Unwin's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
We have three double-point cruises, one in 2021 and two in 2022. All are plain-Jane 7-day cruises out of Galveston. That 21 extra points won't do anything as we are already Diamond and well short of Diamond+, but it's three less cruises I need to take to get to D+. And I'm cheap so that's several K $ for free! I like free! -
Some of y'all have saved more than I spend on a cruise. I saved 4% by signing up for alerts on cruiseline.com.

I pick by cost.

I found a 9-day going to the Bahamas / Perfect Day out of Galveston on the Radiance and booked it. On a smaller ship, this is the kind of cruise I was hoping for on the Oasis-class ship.
-
I'd love to see some more variety of ports. Maybe a 7-day going from Galveston to one of the Florida ports, and then a 7-day back, like they do for Alaska. A 9-day or longer, or even 14 days, would also be neat. I've gotten to where I don't get off the ship anymore.

Yep for both, I played last night (2-26-22)

Will cruising be put on pause again?
Cakemeister replied to PG Cruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
I hope not. I was looking at South Africa and it took about three weeks for cases to peak after omicron started. (11-30 to 12-17, give or take). In the US, it looks like the current spike in cases started around 12/16, so we might have another week or two of awfully high case counts, then it will start going down. Of course, the demographics are different so the time span will be different. covid-19 case count south africa - Google Search covid-19 case count u.s.a - Google Search -
I use a 2% cash back Mastercard for a daily driver, an Amazon card for Amazon purchases (5%), a Chase Sapphire card (not reserve, I don't pay annual fees for cards) for cruise purchases, and a 1.5% Mastercard for places like Costco that don't take MasterCard.

ROYAL'S FIRST EVER WORLD CRUISE!!!
Cakemeister replied to smokeybandit's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
I was planning on retiring in April of '24. Maybe I can bump it up a few months. A world cruise is high up on my bucket list. But at this cost it might be a difficult sell for Mrs. Cake. Matt's information on that front will be very useful. -
We just finished our first Diamond cruise and we loved it! You will too! I just wish the diamond lounge opened at 6:00 am instead of 7:00 so I could get my first coffee there.

We just disembarked from the Independence today (9/12) Last Sunday we got to the checkpoint at the appointed time, I think it was 1:30, and Mrs. Cake's test result was not in order. You have to have something that has your name, date, and negative indication. So Mrs. Cake went to the nearest place that would do a quick test. She got back to the terminal at ten minutes to four and they lock the doors at 4:00, no exceptions. Once she got through the door, the staff was very helpful, even more than they usually are, and we got on the ship toot sweet. Make sure your test results have your name, date of test, and negative result. All's well that ends well. We enjoyed our cruise on the empty ship. I recommend it, there were no lines for anything and great service. Bring some hand lotion and a couple of comfortable masks.

Internet on the Independence is a bit spotty. But it is better than $1 per minute in a kiosk somewhere, so I'm not complaining.

Is there a link somewhere to the single supplement sale?

https://www.emed.com/products/covid-at-home-testkit-six-pack You want the "Ag card" test. They have someone on video watch while you do the test. I got mine through Optum, but your mileage may vary.
