  1. Updated info in Matt's blog.
  2. One of these days .....
  3. CDC has a "misapplied" authority for this particular industry. They don't control the airline, hotel/resort or other industries. But cruise lines sit in their laps because legislators never took the time (until now) to see where regulatory control should lie. CDC is definitely a stake holder, but do not hold expertise on maritime operations or overall safety. The proposed legislation from the FL senators can right the ship on this.
  4. Guessing we're going to need a lot of sailing under our belts to generate the cash necessary to restart all the capital projects across the fleet. Maybe a 2+ year delay on all the improvements across the fleet?
  5. Costa (Carnival) is launching it flagship Costa Smeralda (3rd ship) from Italy this weekend. So as the lines are unable to sail out of the US, the protocol testing is happening in Europe. Its progress.
  6. Used to enjoy tuning into the ships webcams. Oasis had a few views they would cycle through.
  7. Are we going to reach a salvage saturation anyway? Too many ships turned over for salvage depressing value? Not necessarily a good time for a new company to purchase a ship and sit on it until the gov'ts deem it safe to cruise.
  8. On your mark, get set, GO
  9. Was told she's the high priority for Celebrity start-up. As everyone, still waiting for the word.
  10. Which may have influenced the sell off this morning.
  11. We're late to the game.
  12. You might appreciate analysis presented by Ivor Cummings (bio-chem engineer) regarding what came out of Europe. First real analysis I've seen. About 37 minutes long. It addresses what happened in Europe but he does touch North and South America.
  13. So much for that prediction. Would't have been the best guinea pig to start the experiment with.
  14. That’s a timeline similar to what my TA discussed
  15. Q.What has a bottom at its top? A. A leg.
  16. I see it as US dragging its heals. I wouldn't have thought Europe would be leaning forward first. Now Singapore is moving forward. Time to get out of the wind tunnel and into the air and see how these protocols fly.
  17. Grateful the CDC isn't in charge of the auto industry.
  18. I think Miami alone pulls in $8B/yr on the cruise industry
  19. NY pizza is my favorite. After that any pizzeria that actually makes its own pizza in a real oven (not conveyor belt). BUT when you're at sea after a day of umbrella drinks, wave running, rock wall climbing, zip lining, chefs table, and finally a silent disco - it doesn't matter that it comes off a conveyer belt. And they do make it to order as requested so it can be fresh if you order a custom.
  20. Keeping things shut down is a huge financial impact to FL and other places depending upon tourism trade.
  21. Surprising with all the changes, delays, lifts, shifts etc, we didn't see the later half of 2022 published earlier. (I see that as an opportunity for the line to collect more deposits) Other lines have been rolling out latter half of '22, but from some reason RCG (except Galapagos cruises) are published late in the year.
  22. There are advantages and disadvantages either way. For us, if its a complex reservation (lots of people, special requests, complex logistics) travel agent, if its a simple one, we can take care of it ourselves (but we'll use an agent for most of those cases). For those solo cases, I'll turn it over to the agent if they've been helpful in the past.
