Off To A Bad Start In The Caribbean !!
cruisellama replied to princevaliantus's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Cruise radio news reported the recommended protocols were not being applied on that line/ship, but will create a negative impact to the industry. -
I think we can expect to see the rates wrap the cost in. (But lets them collect larger deposits too to keep the cash flowing)

Heard that little gem of a story earlier - they're not going to be the only ones. ? -
CDC Conditional Sailing Order
cruisellama replied to twangster's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
It's setting up to be a grim outlook for sailing in 2021. Hmm start cancelling and getting refunds, or just keep moving FCC forward?? Getting wary about having too much $$ exposure without a path to start sailing. -
Cruise Radio had a story from 9 Nov that Carnival had removed all 7 day and longer cruises until Oct 2021 from their planning website.

You can't please everyone all the time. Just try to win over as many as you can. RCG has 2 more premium inclusive lines with Azamara and Silverseas - smaller ships, unique destinations, higher crew/passenger ratio. I saw Celebrity as the transition line.
-
Much of all these promotions is to keep those deposits coming in. Marketing departments are pulling out all the stops to sell product without any evidence of when that product will be delivered. Gotta keep the cash coming in to keep things afloat.

What kind of grades does a pirate get in school? High seas!

Great idea. I've been a proponent of that approach since the "nickel and diming" started a few years ago. When we started, things were pretty inclusive but after 20+ years things have become more a la carte. I'd rather pay an overall higher fare for having those included. That's why we moved up to suite level on Celebrity - to get the 4 perks (premium drink, wifi, gratuities and OBC) - Michaels club now Retreat.

Passengers arrive at the departure area at Marina Bay Cruise Centre in Singapore. Singapore: "The fact that you carry your luggage and you bring your passport out, I guess it's just the mindset that you're going on holiday," he told AFP. - Does this mean they do not check baggage? For a shorty, certainly makes sense - carry-on would be easier, but was wondering the protocol for the baggage side. Are there baggage handlers? Do they run bags through a sterilization process like a UV light?

Covid Vaccine 90% Effective!
cruisellama replied to FManke's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
The announcement certainly lifted the market. RCL saw a big bump, down a little today. Still not bullish on 2021 cruising until such a vaccine gets deployed. Maybe my 2021 Nov cruise will go, cynical about the earlier ones. -
So the storm season activity continues into November, which normally yields smooth sailing (if we were sailing). Guess we'd be complaining about those cancellations and itinerary changes under better conditions.

FL cruises that leave on a Monday?
cruisellama replied to RickinSTL's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Celebrity Reflection leaves FLL Monday 8 March 21 for an 11 day if they go. -
Everyone's delayed in C&A progression until we're back on the water. Which is why I don't think the "double points" promotion will really skew anything. It's used to get booking deposits, it's available over a short period of time, and highly probable those cruises still won't occur unless the world situation improves. We may have to cruise from Europe of Asia (if they'll let us in), because I don't see things leaning forward in the US-Caribbean, or Alaskan markets. Would have expected to read about an RCG "Crew Only" test cruise being scheduled by now as a primer prior to the discussed the crew + volunteers (TBD) practice runs.

CDC Conditional Sailing Order
cruisellama replied to twangster's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Will there be an industry beyond 2021 if no sailing? Maybe non-US operations can keep things afloat, but a lot of US port cities who support the industry would feel the sting. -

https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2020/11/06/top-8-things-repeat-cruisers-seem-say-all-the-time Enjoyable blog. My opinion, the diverse fleet operated RCG has the answers to all the repeat cruisers wishes. There are smaller ships which offer a little more elegance in the partner lines like Azamara and Silversea. While there are not "no kids" cruises, Celebrity tends to be a more adult demographic as it doesn't have the big deck toys to serve as a draw. Those who want a floating resort have Oasis and Q class. If you've become tired with MDR cuisine on your primary line, try one of the other family lines. The great thing, perks of your status can be reapplied on the sister line. Sorry note that the mask tan lines won't be fixed by any line in the near future. Just a thought.

Any Summer 2022 deployment predictions?
cruisellama replied to Joe01's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Guess 2022 deployment schedule is pushed to the end of the month per Matt's latest blog. Although trying to figure out port availabilities and local rules is really a crap shoot 2 years out.
