  1. The only bright side I see is I can go buy wine or bottled water to bring back on!
  2. I’d hope you are last off the ship….but that still puts you waiting for an extended period. can’t wait to see what happens. My B2B is in February. im thinking something went wrong with a B2B and that’s why they changed the protocol
  3. Interesting. When I was on Adventure one of the passengers was doing a triple B2B and their testing-I think, was on day 6 instead of day 5. I wonder if you get off the ship to test and you are positive that they no longer “have to get you home” so it’s in their best interest to do it this way. I wonder if they’ll decide to charge for this in the future. are they going to make you select a check in time? of course, you have me to blame for this. I just made Diamond and they killed the happy hour drinking and I booked my first B2B a few weeks ago.
  4. Do a mock booking for the cabin category you have to see the cost of a solo passenger, that is what you can expect to pay if it’s just you in the cabin. you can have your kids in an adjacent/connecting or across the hall cabin, no need to share a cabin with them. if your mom was slated to be in a cabin with one of the kids (or you) , it could be that cabin price may go up if she had her C&A, senior rate, state of residence discount on the cabin.
  5. It looks like the last sailing in NJ on Oasis is Oct 24-31 Then it appears on Nov 3 in Miami. so there’s no passengers when it leaves NJ on Oct 31st?
  6. Ugh, I finally reached Diamond! Lol so this might work for me on some cruises, but other cruises I might be buying a beverage package. How does that work? Can I “buy a drink” ,using the voucher, for a friend?
  7. They are definitely sailing. I sailed Royal in the Bahamas a few week ago. The entertainment on board cannot be reserved until you are on the ship (it’s due to Covid restrictions). Have the Royal App downloaded and ready. I was reading a post on this forum that you can use the app while waiting in the port to board. If that’s true it could mean definitely getting what you want. I’m sure with the reduced capacity sailing it won’t be too difficult to book things anyway.
  8. I don’t know if I would have ever cruised again! I complain about a full day/ night of rocking…I can’t imagine 2 days and 3 nights. That’s waaay too much for me. my very first cruise was to Bermuda and most of the passengers didn’t go to the late show due to sea sickness. We were a large group and a private party where we played bagpipes. We were supposed to be standing still in a circle as we played but instead had to take a step in each direction while we played as the ship rocked. There were barf bags strategically located every 5 ft along the railings in the halls. I made it half way into the late show and that was it. I was hugging the porcelain God all night. When we finally hit calm water I was instantly better. AMAZING! now I bring the Dramamine. It helps with the nausea but not with the mind racing “are we going to roll over.” 2 bad experiences for me with Bermuda….I’m not sure I want to try for a third. Ill be booking some fall cruises out of NY, I hope I don’t jinx them
  9. I had gotten to the point where I brought my own little hole punch to use on the card and lanyards. I got tired of waiting at guest services (pre pandemic) to ask for a hole to be punched. Some guest service people acted like I was asking them to give me their paycheck. One ship said they didn’t have a hole punch, yet later I was at guest services and they were punching holes. Now if I was nasty about my request I could understand, but I believe in please and thank you snd I always use that! I do recall using my hole punch on one of the ships that has a system where you put your card to the door to unlock it (not an insert the card system). Well apparently you can’t hole punch those cards! Lol thankfully I had some ID holders to attach to the lanyards BUT some of our party had the plastic stretch out and lost their cards.
  10. I just read the other day if you booked refundable air through Air2Sea you would get a refund. Those who did not book refundable air or booked elsewhere should contact the air carrier. I cannot find that in writing at the moment. It stuck with me because I had returned a few short weeks ago from flying my family if 6 to the Bahamas to cruise . I’ve no idea if I had refundable air and it’s likely I did not. I did have travel insurance-be sure it covers Covid
  11. Personally I’d love to know which sailings are cancelling.
  12. It might help if you mention the city/state you are in? I had no problem getting testing done at my local healthcare place in NY-(Westchester County). Same day results. RC is accepting either the PCR OR the Antigen(rapid) test if that helps. If I could not find anything in my area I would most definitely do a 3 hour round trip, but I'd be darn sure they are open and could take me! There are some posts on this site about the at home testing kits that are approved, perhaps look into those?
  13. I was in an Owners Suite, Deck 10, Adventure. I should have complained daily/nightly regarding the noise coming rom the pool deck. It was like purposeful dragging and banging. Music was loud too-I could hear the words, not just the music. I'm a late night person so all that noise at midnight/1am didn't wake me, I was up. The 7am noise was more bothersome. This was a Royal Up, so I had no clue what I was "upping myself into" because I did not give it my due diligence. Usually I look at the cabins I am interested in and see what is above/below and next to me. My bad.
  14. I thought I would combine these 2 questions. What are the restrictions/requirements for NJ sailings regarding Covid? How rough is the sailing to the Caribbean? I've done the cruise to the Bahamas (20 years apart) and both times it was VERY rocky-of course it was hurricane season, so there's that-but someone had also said "it is always rocky out of the NY harbor". I'm looking at booking some NJ sailings this fall and figured I find out ahead of time-as opposed to the hard way. Thank you!
  15. I recall “the guy in next cruise” saying it was a $200 deposit per person to make the reservation…meanwhile I was unsure how many would be on said reservation so I gave it a pass. I did book a solo balcony for myself snd my daughter (2 balconies) for February and he took another $100 deposit in case my daughter wanted to add a friend. It does not show on the reservation as a TBD (to be determined) for guest 2 it just shows a deposit of $200 was made. it will be interesting to see what goes on with that. their policies are too “Mumbo jumbo “ they really need a simpler way to lay it out to the consumer
  16. Can you use someone else’s FCC on your cruise cost?
  17. What are the restrictions/requirements re:Covid and the NY sailings?
  18. I know my kids are big bacon eaters, they never mentioned this “appearance of rationing” on Adventure. I’ll have to ask.
  19. I would read this, at least twice, and take notes/highlight everywhere it talks about booking later. I see info through the 8 pages. It’s too bad it’s not in bullet point format to make it easy to understand. I had booked some next cruise reservations and “the guy” was going to sell me one of those “figure it out later” deals but I balked. It appears there MAY be a little more involved than I was led to believe (and you were led to believe). https://www.royalcaribbean.com/content/dam/royal/resources/pdf/next-cruise-booking-terms-and-conditions.pdf
  20. My daughter turned 18 this past February. Her points were 68 and her level Emerald prior to cruising. The recent cruise was just added in, her points are still 68 and her status emerald. She was disappointed. We looked at each cruise she was on snd added up the points. All of the cruises she’s been on (including this last one) total 68 points, a few of my cruise points that she wasn’t on dropped off her points. With the double points she’ll hit Diamond on her next 7 night sailing. she was able to drink on the ship that left out of the Bahamas. However I don’t believe RC would have allowed her to book a cabin without someone over 21 on her sailing/in her party.. So she cannot decide to book a cruise on her own until she is 21.
  21. I thought when disembarking it says you cannot bring anything like that back. I know I was in Aruba (land stay) and they HEAVILY PENALIZE anyone who is caught going through customs if they have shells.
  22. To add: typically their Black Friday sale is very good However I’d make it a habit to book then check regularly. Pricing varies by ship/sailing.
