Certificate of recovery to sail
Pattycruise replied to Ken Edgar's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
BTW, consider testing your wife, even is asymptomatic, at the cutoff that she is "alllowed to test positive" to sail. So if your cruise is May 21 then work backwards from there and have her tested. If she is positive you have just "gotten it documented" in time to be able to sail. Otherwise if she tests positive within the 10 or 14 days of sailing -whatever the rule-you are out of luck -
Certificate of recovery to sail
Pattycruise replied to Ken Edgar's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Definitely get documentation from an official source if that is the plan to use a recovery letter . You might get a scolding: I had a NP yell at me for going in for testing (they practically donned haxmat suits) and she said my positive rapid test was sufficent to prove I was positive. Well, it did NOT provide me with documentation for my employer that I was indeed positive (and her reply: you should just show them the test! LOL really!!???) Anyhow, I had the PCR done and guess what, it was NEGATIVE. Oh, and this place has done tons of Covid testing and i would expect professionals to treat everyone like they are a positive case, so shame on them. The NP actually called me to inform me my at home test must have been inconclusive.....that was as close to an apology I would get I guess. The reason they allow the previous Covid positive within the set time frame is you can still test positive on a PCR test up to 90 days post positive. If you do not plan to use recovery you might consider using an antigen test-that will only pick up live active infection. BTW-just my opinion but it's highly doublful you picked it up on Sunday and already tested positive, it's likely it was brewing and you just did not pop positive. There are many cases of Covid on the ships, despite everyone testing negative 2 days prior to boarding. We are only negative at the time of the test. -
Everyone's insurance is different. Look at the Walgreens website, see what, if any testing is available, answer the questions and it should tell you if there is an associated cost. (I should hope) I just did this for my friend. I did the booking for her, she is not "computer savvy" and I answered "unable to be socially distanced while traveling or upcoming travel" and it did not indicate it would cost anything. Some Walgreens offered the rapid test, some only the PCR (which can take a day or two for results) CVS had also been offering free testing for travel, then changed their questions and if you indicate no on all of their questions a note appears that says it will be $138. I answer YES to not being able to maintain social distance and suddenly it is a covered test. I see you don't have much time to figure things out. I hope you can find the testing you need soon.

Transport from Venice to Porto Corsini Ravenna Italy
Pattycruise replied to M First's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Is there a way you can do a mock booking for flights on Air2Sea or just even call Air2Seaa to see what they say the latest arrival for the day of embarkation is. Example: I am flying in from X location to Venice on embarkation day-what flights can you offer me? Air2Sea is the standard I use when I book my flights. Example. I saw a sweet deal on a flight out of Fort Lauderdale for a 10:30am flight. When I looked at Air2Sea the earliest flight I could get with them was 11:30....so I knew right away Air2Sea factors in surprises and knows when it can get people to their flight. So I ended up with a very late afternoon flight as I was not paying premium pricing for my large family and I ensured I would have time to get to the airport. Where is customs? is it on your boarding or when you deplane? They factor that in as well. it IS a 3 hour ride from the airport to the port.....that could also be a factor. -
New cruise refund rules
Pattycruise replied to smokeybandit's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
I would love to see the ability to cancel one person off a cruise due to Covid and not have to lose the other person who is booked in the cabin. Especially when the positive person lives in another state and has had no contact. that and the automatic cancellation of reservations attached to that cabin. It's a money loss for the industry, and a PIA for the cancelled people to find something else. I know it's off topic, but it's been weighing on my mind. -
Check-In Experiences - UPDATED 05/11
Pattycruise replied to CruisingNewb's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I note you say you checked later that day and the 11am check in was gone. For those who do not get the time period they want they should continue to check the app periodically (or religiously if you have the time). I had an 11:30 on a check in (did not realize the check in had opened 45 days ahead-what was I thinking?!) and I checked back recently and found an 11:00am check in. -
Wising they would get rid of it for my return trip from Europe! I've already adjusted my flight over so it is only 2 days prior to sailing so I can test at home to board the ship. This will be Spain's loss of revenue for my peace of mind and my loss for not being able to enjoy Spain. At the end, I will test and pray...already checked to see if my insurance would cover anything if I test positive and I was told yes (of course that's as accurate as the agent interprets)....otherwise I am prepared to absorb the extra cost-very unwillingly though! Too bad I can't take a bus home! LOL

I agree with this. I am doing a Barcelona to Ravenna sailing and will be one of those "test cases" trying to figure out the shuttle since I am staying 2 days post cruise. I did hear that you can tell Royal you are arriving day of and provide a flight # to them and they will add you to the shuttle (at whatever price they are selling the service for), but you will need to go to the airport to get it. I am in the midst of trying to do this with my cruise-telling them I am flying out on a small side trip overnight before I spend my few days in Venice. Hopefully it will work, if not I'll need to figure out a plan B. I can't see schlepping my luggage to a train station.

Some ports may be a tad less safe than others. Post the ports and you might get better feedback.

Your last vaccine, be it the 2nd dose or a booster, must be within 270 days of sailing from Barcelona otherwise you will need to follow the other protocols, which involve additional testing. I have a sailing out of Barcelona on Celebrity. You are considered FULLY VAX if your booster or final dose was done within 270 days of sailing. See if Royal has the same on their website (I suspect they do because this is a "Barcelona thing". Here is a link to Celebrity Page and the European embarkation. https://www.celebritycruises.com/healthy-at-sea/europe-travel-requirements There is a wealth of info in this link, including previously testing positive for Covid and testing to get off at ports and to debark. Pre-Arrival/Embarkation Covid-19 Test Up to Date* Guests: Must present a negative Antigen test taken within 2 days prior to sailing. Testing at the terminal will not be required. Fully-Vaccinated** Guests: Must present a negative Antigen test taken within 1 day of sailing. Testing at the terminal will not be required. Unvaccinated Guests: Will not be required to present a pre-arrival test. Instead, guests will be tested at the Terminal prior to Embarkation.

I had finally found this wonder drug Bonine that everyone talks about on the pharmacy shelf, next to the Dramamine. I compared labels. There are 2 different types of Dramamine, one contains the Dimenhydrinate original formula as you indicated-and the other is Meclizine.(it is their "less drowsy" formula) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dramamine-Motion-Sickness-Relief-Less-Drowsey-Formula-Tablets-8-ea-Pack-of-2/576907151?athcpid=576907151&athpgid=AthenaItempage&athcgid=null&athznid=siext&athieid=v0&athstid=CS004&athguid=00-9ec099ffe6928d51601601dc305167ef-b1d28f3bd7580cec-01&athancid=null&athena=true -
Anyone Else Make This Mistake???
Pattycruise replied to CJS2766's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Did the virtual balcony on Anthem, I thought it was great. -
Some of those banned drugs can be used to make illegal drugs (meth). That is why they are no longer fully over the counter, instead they are behind the counter and you need ID to buy it gets logged into a database so you can’t hit every store nearby to buy. This is NY, not sure about the rest of the country.

Yes, the availability of categories you can bid on may be tied to the current category you are assigned. I can say this from my experience on Freedom. I was with family. One had a JS, one had a OV Bal and one had an interior. The ability to bid on various categories varied based on the cabin they were assigned to.

The baggage handlers are not included in any gratuities, they are independent of the cruise line. IF you choose to add additional tips for the stateroom attendant or wait staff they would appreciate it. Your stateroom attendant will put tipping envelopes in your stateroom the last night for that purpose.

There was a woman on my last sailing who had some braids put in at the Bahamas. The woman quoted $5, she thought per braid, turns out it was PER INCH.Scammers everywhere. The question is, had the police been called to settle this dispute, how would it have ended. I suspect she would not have called the police to say she was being ripped off- and would have settled for $70 before it came that far. (if you were to say you would call them). A big problem would be for the youngins who think they have no say so to speak up for themselves when they are confronted with a scam artist like this.

Depending on the type of Dramamine (meclizine) it is the same ingredient as Bonine. Are you comparing the same ingredients? If you are I might switch! -
I understand what you are saying. I’m wondering what’s going on behind the scenes to cause this. I can’t imagine RC would want to change itineraries that many times. It would be helpful if they explained “the why”.

Believe it or not on my boarding for Anthem at the end of March they did not ask for my vax card, which I keep paper clipped in my passport. I was starting to flip to the card saying “here’s my vax card” and he said, “it’s all good I see it was uploaded and approved”. You and I both know the sailings out of Bayonne have always required showing the card. This was a surprise. I’ll be sailing again from there next week, God willing, and I’ll try to remember to post an update again.

Discounted drink plan pricing
Pattycruise replied to Brian Schultz's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Happened to me over a month ago. Very pleasantly surprised. Must be a glitch they aren’t aware of. -
I can’t imagine you would forget the test results. You can print them and out and put them with your travel documents. For most :passport or birth certificate with govt photo ID Vaccination card Set sail pass-printed or in the app Covid test results, printed, or screen shot or open on the webpage there are no phone calls I personally print all my documents, and check in takes under 3 minutes, unless there is an unforeseen issue.

I’m booked in Celebrity for July (joining family who organized the trip). Celebrity website talks all about cruising from the US. and the CDC and testing. I could not find links about cruising out of Europe. I was specifically looking for testing, figuring the EU had done away with test to enter perhaps the ships did there as well. Anyhow I finally called and was told it’s test up to 2days prior to sailing (fully vaxxed people as you defined it). I’ve now adjusted my flights so I can test before flying and I can use those results for ship entry. Im hoping the US drops test to enter the US, otherwise it will be a long wait to renter the US if we test positive at the end of the sailing, but I’m aware and have insurance for this, and the ability to “wait to test negative”. I notice the ship is not quite full as compared to US sailings. imagine there aren’t many US citizens willing to risk the extended stay. It is definitely hurting the industry. thank you for sharing the info that is difficult to find!

The 4/3 cruise was out of the ordinary . I’ve sailed out of Bayonne numerous times since September, each time they make people wait for their check in time, only when they “ran out of people” did they move to the next boarding time. They also checked boarding times on the app (or printout) before letting you in and if your pass was incorrect they had you step out of line to go and wait.
